@Cody I'll have to listen again then. Maybe I was in a shitty mood or something, and I've never revisited. I shall now. Maybe it was just because "is this it", was so outstanding. Difficult second album syndrome, they couldn't outdo it, so even if it was as good, perhaps I was disappointed? I'm looking for it now.
A parallel can be easily drawn between the first 2 albums of both Oasis and the Strokes. They both wanted the third album to be the next masterpiece, which would allow them to make other markets, too fast. That is in part why they unfairly dismissed Raphael during the First Impressions sessions. They had departed from their roots significantly. They wanted to be a bigger thing while being unaware that they were actually the greatest thing already.
Eduardo C, Defo Mate! As Noel said He's Saving All Around The World for the 3rd Album! Coz he can get a Bigger Orchestra etc! You Know Man! I don't know much about The Strokes But! But I know that the Bands 1st 2 Album are There Best and So Fresh/New/Raw/RnR/Exciting etc! Cheers Man

My cousin was a promoter straight out after uni and she helped with the first UK Strokes tour. She said that she'd never seen a buzz like it - they were having to cancel smaller hundred seat venues and go straight for bigger town hall venues. She also managed to lose Julian in Manchester, which was a strange one.
This is GREAT content, James. I'm so glad to see you branching out into some American areas as your detailed approach is second to none and deserves more exposure. The Doors / Nirvana material would be great! Would also LOVE to see some of your now trademark deep delves into British hard rock / metal like Black Sabbath / Motorhead / Deep Purple etc. Maybe you could do a 'Classic Album Deep Dive' every month and really go deep into classic rock records British and American? You're clearly a really knowledgeable musician and content making so hope you continue branching out and getting more and more exposure!
What happened during those 3 minutes before Pete Doherty was kicked out of the dressing room? It seems like it’s implied you guys both know but I have no idea why that would happen? Idk any theories would be interesting to hear
he probably either tried to shoot up in front of them or offered them to, assuming this cool NYC band was just another band out of the velvel underground chapter.
Gordon seems like a really sound guy. Concerning the Strokes, I never got them. I tried really hard to like them, there was so much hype around them but I just couldn't get into them, they did nothing for me. They just came across as a bunch of rich boy posers with a bunch of o.k but not great songs. I thought there were a number of much better bands around at the same time or just after who I liked a whole lot more.
The first two Strokes albums are masterpieces
Is this it, definitely. Room on fire ? Not so sure.
Agree with both, Room on Fire got so much stick but it's probably my fave strokes record! Just my opinion ofc ha
@@jezjukes Room On Fire is the most underrated Strokes album. Feels like a volume 2 to this is it

@@jezjukes I mean everyone has their own taste, but as a strokes fan Room On Fire is pretty damn close to Is This It for me personally
Never heard of this guy before but he really seems like the coolest nicest guy ever.
What a lovely guy, great interview! I'll be checking out the bio for sure
Such a charming bloke, and a wonderful story! ✌️
Love Gordon! I never get tired of listening to his stories ❤❤❤

@@eddysandland58 right on! ✌️
It’s weird how Julian wanted them to be big but at the same time didn’t want them to be? He would contradict himself, I mean.

Oooh what a treat James thanks!
I love this Gordon guy, so typically American rocker❤

Epic interview. Soooooo underrated
Great channel. You interview some proper legends 👍

Nice video James. Wasn't sure who Gordon was before I watched the video, but he seems like a really cool guy.
Another great interview
Good work James

Great interview and we dont get enough interviews with producers
Keep up the brilliant work, cheers
iS THIS IT was one of my favourite albums for a long time defiantly a masterpiece
Great interview James. I'll be defo checking out Gordon's book!
Another great interview,James
Great interview
Cheers James 👍🤟
Love Gordon. Seems such a nice guy.
really enjoyed that interview. the first Strokes album is such a classic album
He sounds like an absolutely great guy. Really loved that noughties UK-Euro Indie scene. Far far more superior than the American Emo counterpart.
Excellent interview James! I love the early Strokes stuff.
I cant hear you say "Rock and roll world" without janie jones starting playing in my head 😂
This guy is awesome!
What a sweet guy!
James, i wish i could subscribe twice
He seems like a proper nice bloke 👍🏻
Everytime I see this video pop up I think it's a video about the show community cause that dude looks like Abed with long hair.
Love The Strokes and Oasis! Would love to see more videos about The Strokes :)
great interview ! fucking awesome
I can see why Gordon and Julian clicked. Look at his room decor, same vibe as Julian’s lmao
Hey James
Do you think the recent news that Noel will probably be divorcing from his wife makes an Oasis reunion more likely?
I notice noel is divorcing Sara. Quite significant news for this channel. Also a huge surprise. Thought they were really tight. James - any theories?

Anyone knows what happen with Pete Doherty and The Strokes?
What has Pete to do with The Strokes????
Sorry reacted to early.🤦♂️🤣🤣🤣
He offered acid to Nick Valensi but nick refused
Doherty probably taking his works out in front of The Strokes!!
Gordon seems like a really sound guy.

So there's no connection between the Strokes' studio sound and the Velvet Underground... interesting 🤔
