Yeah, but on the plus side, you can always find parts or another vape and just put the soldering tip in. Also works better than my gas one and it lasts longer. Still depends on what you are doing. It's good for small things.

You could make one better, looks like these guys took a e-cigarettes battery and added a machined soldering iron tip. Even the charger looks the same.

Ali Ajeel there is a video floating on UA-cam where the poster used a tip from another 5 volt soldering iron(replacement tip). He soldered it on an old carto. Then added a brass coupling of sorts.

Just bought the same model on Amazon and it did not work. I have to return it. I requested a replacement one. Not a good start but will give it another try. I would use it on location with my slot cars and RC airplanes. I only need it for minor emergency repairs.

they last about 10 minutes and barely makes correct solder joints unless you can modify the battery to go above 5 volts

Battery is abysmal. Can solder decently if you change the tip for a more powerful one but lasts even less time
