Retroarch is good actually to be paired by other emulators, I found retrobat to be frustrating when setting up controls in game. After exiting it will override your setting again. I found a solution for this problem, I deleted the pre-installed RetroArch (since it is outdated) on retrobat and installed RetroArch manually on the same directory. Then open RetroArch for the first time, set-up the directory on the save states to be on Parent directory of the Retrobat. Then now the problem was solved, retrobat won't no longer overrides your settings. The only problem I got here is how to make it portable.. because if you insert the flashdrive on other PCs the directory for saves will not Update according to the Drive Letter of the Flash drive ( I guess?), I'm currently searching a solution for this problem.
Retrobat is the only one i have tried and only 1 i intend to. Its simple works well with with what i want which is 16 bit era up to ps2 dreamcast. Teknoparrot i imagine will get easier to run as retrobat is updated and improved. Hopefully by the time i get round to it it will be as easy as adding snes roms
I used to love launchbox and used it for 2 years even got big box but the lag spikes kill it for me. Make it almost usable, with frozing up my pc every 10sec for 3sec and then goes back.
@@JustJamie1983 Yeah I used ssd for a long time then I move it to a nvme, like the idea of having 12k games in my pocket. I did see that launchbox uses 3gb of ram where just using bigbox is only 600mb or ram. I don't see any lag with bigbox.
Great video, thank you. I have used LB/BB for years, but I really like Retrobat. The thing I'm not sure about is how to use roms and artwork from other devices. I have a 14TB HDD of roms and media on a NAS and not sure how to use that on multiple PC's on my network. I also wish I could find more information about theming it as I have done tons of theming and artwork for LB/BB. Any suggestions?

Yo J. Do you know of any software that organises your roms and art work for multiple front ends? So create a database like rocket launcher, and once you created all your box art, videos, thumbnails etc etc, you can then use batocera, retrobat, hyperspin, launchbox, quickplay, emulator Station, and the list goes on. Save keep scraping every time you use a different front end. Tnx bud. (Keep up the good work).

For some strange reason, Launchbox refuses to download on my mini PC. It's always really slow then crashes. I tried copying it over from a different computer, but it kept having technical problems and I have no idea why, as there was no guide or walkthrough to what I was experiencing on my computer. I am on the verge of giving up and trying something else, unless someone is able to identify what I'm doing wrong. I strongly believe it is an issue on my computer's end, possibly due to my Windows 11 security setup, but I don't know how to work around it.
@@JustJamie1983 Apparently, it was because of a debloat software I had installed a while back. I tried to recover my computer through a restore point, but it was lost. So I did a soft reboot of my computer and I think it's working again. Sorry for the misunderstanding.
I tried to use retroarch butt it was way too complicated. Now I just play every emulator by itself and then add them to steam as non-steam games. Works great when playing from the sofa in big picture mode.
I’ve always been a fan of retroarch, but on my Red magic gaming phone the air trigger takes a screenshot and interrupts my game, and I can’t figure out how to stop it, so I just use stand alone emulators now.
I kinda wish someone would make the 'smart' side bezels that show what the emulator's controls are and change when you change preferences. I mean the side bezels is just wasted space anyway, once controlling the front end with button combos and such becomes second nature you can change it to something else.
@@JustJamie1983 When I first used RetroArch I could not for the life of me remember all the button combos to do everything, like save/load state, exit to menu, stuff like that so I make a custom bezel just to list that stuff. It helped a ton and I suggested it to the community, on what I think at the time was their reddit, and no one liked the idea of having bezels that show commands and such because the front end was so easy to use. Some people that replied were actually kinda rude so I haven't used RetroArch if it wasn't pre-installed on a handheld since.
Which frontend can auto-launch upon Windows boot and doesn't need kb and mouse? I want to use paired wireless controllers right away. I currently use Batocera but it's Linux-based so ps2 emulation is pretty bad.. Looking for alternatives

@JustJamie1983 not even nes emu launches the games so does MD emu and snes9x plus. All front ends work and launch just fine with these now how about getting them to do that with the other emulators. I'm not asking for anybody to remake anything just make the ones that exist already actually work and not just open up the standalone emulator app. If all the old ones work why can't they do it with redream yaba sanshiro duck station and Aethersx2. That's what needs to be worked on for android users. But it seems launch box is only being developed for pc while android users get the bread crumbs if any and every other frontend acts the same way. Like I said show me a front end that actually launches the games like the Nes.emu, MD.emu and Snes9x Plus. Otherwise they are just wasting my memory space since I still have to use the stand alone interface to pick my game again before it even plays.

There a subreddit with folder with all the files setup for retroarch
No links please.
