The steam’s big picture mode can be a good alternative. Though for non steam games you need to manually add them to the library and config the art works
works fine just your stuck with allt the work arounds and just one basic theme basically , playnite is fire but i have a feeling it just runs extra background task during gaming and it takes like 500mb , which id say is alot if your running on like 512 gbs
What about resource usage? How much ram snd background processor use? These launchers dont circumvent the game store launchers, you start a Steam game and Steam still starts. So now you have 3 launchers runing, this one, ArmoryCrate, and Storefront launcher. This may be ok on a desktop, but Ally is resource limited.
Im glad you asked. It of course depends on what theme you have, and i also have to say that Playnite is much more resource friendly than Launchbox from what ive seen. I would say, as i said in the video. For an emulation system Launchbox is great, but if you play resource hungry games, go for Playnite. The good thing is that Playnite for instance draw whatever power it needs, such as loading a storefront when it needs it where Armoury crate Launcher instead dont seem to handle switching between different store front launchers as delicate. Playnite: With the PS5 theme (its got music playing) It loads about 0.2-1.2% on the cpu in idle and 192.2MB Ram. With a theme that has got no music playing, its loading close to 0% cpu in idle and are using 182MB ram due to art etc getting loaded into ram. Here ive checked other themes and can come down to close to 100Mb ram load and close to 0% on CPU. One big difference between Playnite and Launchbox seems to be down to Playnite loading assets such as thumbnails etc when it needs them and Launchbox loads them when you start the application, but i cant say for sure here. What i know is that Launchbox draws much more resources than Playnite, but once again. Its perfect for your emulator and rom collections. Also, when you start a game, Playnite minimize to the systray. The image rendering scaler can also be adjusted between good image quality / hig memory usage and good quality / low memory usage. Hope this helps :)
Mine won’t let me redeem my Xbox game pass any ideas on how to fix this? As I don’t have any pc games I was planning on mainly using that to play games until I got a bigger steam library
In playnite/Launchbox? Its kinda tricky to answer since i dont know your full setup. It can be many different reasons, but explain a bit more and i will try to help as good as i can.
If anything, this video shows Armory Crate is even worse than people say since two viable alternarives exist. Playnite is even FOSS, it literally would cost ASUS nothing to use it (it's not like Microsoft is putting their weight behind ASUS either). We'll have to wait and see if Lenovo's default inplementation is any better with the upcoming Legion Go

Play nite is fantastic, thanks for the recommendation. How do I stop Armory Crate from launching??
It truly is. There is a setting to make AC not auto start if you look in the AC settings :)

How do you fix a game when the screen goes black and crashes?

Where did you get that nintendo switch theme? What front end did you use for that?
That's one of the themes you can download for Playnite
Can someone please explain how to add nonsteam games to big pic mode plzzzzz
It would be great if you can share with us how to setup thr playnite on an external hard drive.
Watching from philippines!
My playnite is kind of laggy, any tips to make the experience better?
Thanks for the video! Can I use the Armory button to open Playnite? If yes how?😊
No problem :) nopes I don't think you can unless you use a third party app, but don't know anything about it unfortunately
Does it require the launchers to be installed and running in the background?
Yes, but you can close them down when you don't need them

Great video keep it up 👍
Thanks so much! Appreciate it!
With PlayNite, some of the artwork is cut off in a lot of the game’s thumbnails.
This unfortunately screws up the aesthetics aspect of this software.
PlayNite made me feel like a genius lol
What about RetoBat? That is my usual goto for other windows machines 😎👍
I can hear the swedish sort of accent, you sound familiar dude.
It's hard to get rid of 😊
