@IvanDiaz-fl6ff I gotta disagree. Think Vassell has one of the prettiest shots when it goes in. It's nothing but net when he's on. Plus, he's a 2 way guy too. So you got Wemby lock down defender, Sochan can guard 1-5, Vassel 2-4, then Castle 1-3 on the floor. No way I trade Vassel. He's one of the corner pieces.
Dude, every team has role players. Keldon does a lot of things well. More things well than he struggles with. Who said the only reason to keep a player is if they are a star or have the highest ceiling. I think the fact that Keldon was our leading scorer when we were tanking inflated everyone’s expectation of him. He was the 30th pick. Like what did you expect. An All-Star?
Wtf are you talking about. Why would we need a top three pick? Why would we want another center? Like I would take it but if we got flagg we should just trade him.
Generally I'm kind of sick of all the 3-point talk from many media pundits who are missing the point entirely. In-game reps are the best way for a young player to develop new skills. Same as the Sohan as point guard phase. Yeah a 4 like Sohan is never going to be a great point guard but now the Spurs have a role player that can facilitate when he picks up a rebound instead of passing it backwards and freezing the break. Wemby taking a ton of 3s is an investment in the future. After this year he will be very comfortable putting up 3's from anywhere and hitting them at Trae Young or Damian Lillard percentages while he develops whatever skillset he decides to work on next season.
I think the main point should be that Wemby is far from being a finished product and the Spurs know that. So let them figure out what his limitations are while there are not competing.
Love hearing outside perspectives about my Spurs. The local SAS discourse can be so negative sometimes so it's cool to see people outside our bubble take notice and be optimistic/anticipatory of Wemby and our future
I was listening to a podcast and the guy said Wemby shouldn’t be taking threes at all because of the “less than average”and he needs to post up like how KD does. the man makes his three just as much if not more than his teammates, Not to mention taking the stress of banging in the paint off his body by just shooting 3s so I’m glad you agree for him to keep taking them
Apart from not passing at a high level, Wembanyama can do everything at 7:4. He can't get low enough to keep a tight handle but the fact that he plays like a perimeter player at his height is incredible.
Anyone mad about wemby shooting 3s doesn’t understand the sport. Imagine a player with curry level gravity because his size and range that can go and be the best defensive player in the world on the other end. Not to mention one of the best lob threats in the league and he can use his 3 pt threat to pump fake into a drive or middys. If wemby hits 280 threes in a season by the time playoffs come they have to guard him at half court. That opens up the court so much. They can literally run a 5 out with zero players in the paint while they have a 7’3 player on the court
Wemby’s hitting a higher percentage of threes than Shai and since Nov 1st he’s hitting 38%, which is better than Lillard. It’s a genuine weapon in his arsenal already
Unless a star specifically demands a trade to SA I wonder if they'd even be willing to drop significant assets, for fear that player would want out. Even accounting for era with your comments about the Spurs almost always having their first, that org doesn't feel like they believe those types of trades will work out for them, though maybe Wemby changes that equation.
It’s a shame I’m sick of sports betting and advertisements so much fucking advertisements. Regardless I’m going to have to get my ass to a Spurs game while I have the opportunity. This is the next GOAT.
Just a hook, he doesn’t even need to extend his arm that much he’s waaay bigger than any player except when he play against Zach Edey, Porzingis or Donovan Clingan, but he’s still taller and longer than them + way more athletic and agile
Wemby's 36% from three is not mathematically better than the percentage he would have on close twos... It'd be like ~50%+ Threes are not always the analytical answer. If he's too weak to post, he's still a P&R threat. (Look at Chet)
He has hard time diving into the lane at will due to his absurdly high dribble with being 7'5" and being much thinner and having a higher center of gravity than paint defenders. That doesn't mean he can't score in the paint (he is shooting around 85% on point blank suits this year), but that he would struggle to do so with his 32% usage rate. I think the idea is getting him reps at shooting the 3 in games while also allowing him to keep his usage rate really high. He's so tall and fluid that he can get his 3 off anytime he wants. He just needs to keep working on it to be 2%-3% higher on his makes.
Hey funky, I was curious about whether or not victor wembanyama is too tall to have the right leverage even if he put on a reasonable amount of weight. Idk if you have been access to shooting stats for guys like minute bol but everyone I’ve talked to agree that guys at wemby’s height were always too skinny to be in the paint like people want wemby to be
@ I wanted to research guys like Ralph Sampson and minute bol because my family members don’t remember them being strong paint guys but their shot diet data doesn’t exist since they didn’t track that before 1996
Spurs are way ahead of schedule. No one expected them to be this good right now. I don’t think Fox is the type of player you really need. He’s overpaid for what he does well.(he will be overpaid once he gets the contract extension he is expecting. He is a below avg. 3pt shooter and shoots a lot of them, and isn’t even really a true point guard. Only averaged over 6 assists twice I believe) Honestly with who is already on this team: -Wemby -Sochan -Castle -Vassell -Champagne + whoever they draft(minimum 2 draft picks potentially 3 with the bulls top 10 protected) in this draft I see them just using the cap space to get high end role players like the Thunder did this offseason or to take on more expiring contracts for picks. I just don’t see a lot of stars, who want out, that are worth the money they are asking for. Like realistically there’s only like 5-8 (maybe) guys who are worth $45-60 mil per year. But there’s a lot of guys who want that money or are already getting pretty close to that money(Markkanen, Ingram, Zion, Siakim, Sabonis, Lavine, Lamelo, Anunoby, Porter Jr, Jamal Murray, Adebayo etc). Not saying these aren’t good/great players. But you better be pretty damn sure they are the missing piece for your team if you’re gonna trade for them, with those contracts. (Hence why players like Lavine, Markkanen, and Ingram weren’t move/haven’t been moved yet)
Wemby is great and ppl gotta stop discrediting the spurs team in general saying he doesn’t have help… if you watch them they’re decent… if anything magic has no help rn
Before I say anything, understand I am holding Wemby to an unrealistic standard because he has legit GOAT potential. That said, I'm concerned that it seems whether he is having a good game or not is 100% contingent on if the 3 ball is falling. If it is, his inside game works too, but if it's not it feels like he ends up on the outside chucking up shots that go nowhere.
This is about the only basketball UA-cam channel I listen to now, since it's not sponsored by DraftKings or whatever. The day you take gambling money is the day you lose this subscriber. As for the threes, they are disgusting. I think a lot of people watching this channel are very young and don't know how basketball used to be played. Shooting threes are not cool in my opinion but I guess people could differ on this. However, defending wimby taking threes is not the same as affirming the aesthetics of the three-point game. In general. Nobody who hates threes is trying to blame wimby, instead. We are saying the game itself is dog shit now, because it makes great players like wimby shoot threes, which are boring and essentially anti-basketball for a lot of us.
Idk if it's just cause I'm a mavs homer, but Lively has had his number for 2 years in a row? Is he just not comfortable against those type of centers or is it just flukes?
I hate this jack up a 3 era but wemby shouldnt stop. I just think he should take less. Missing 8 threes in a game is a lot of wasted possessions when he can just pop a midrange and try to grab his own miss if he misses
Missing 8 3s is not a problem because bigs of the other team must come out of the paint and there will be easy O rebounds for Spurs... and many second chances close to the rim. His team mates must just use the lanes he opens when he shoots from deep. Anyway 8 missed 3s are far from what he averages since november. Ok he won't make 8/8 like Curry did but look at his ratings in december.
@Christian-uu8nl yeah but that's IF they can get the offensive rebounds. I still think when you are having an off night with the 3 ball you should stop after 4 misses because that's just wasted possesions. Especially since wemby likes the trailing 3 with 18+ seconds on the shot clock. When you are hot fire away but he's had many games this season with 7 or 8 misses
The spurs have 30-40 million more cap space to use before all in. Meaning they will trade for, sign or draft wemby’s co star soon. Vassell isn’t a great #2 option offensively but he will be a great #3 once Wemby gets his co star. Dynasty loading. Most picks over the next 7 drafts
Due to the amount of 3's he attempts per game and the percentage he is hitting them, his fg% is that low. If he was attempting say half the 3's with the same % his fg% would be over 50. Try it yourself. Simple math. Good luck.
Wemby shoot alot of 3's thats why. Take AD for instance who only take 2 3's a game and shoot it at a 31.3% clip. If AD takes 9.5 3's a game and shoot it at a 31.3% clip his field goal percentage will be lower than Wembys.
Jacking a bunch of bad 3s is breaking the game. He can easily shoot 70% in the paint. It doesn't even make sense mathematically. Nobody likes this basketball.
You obviously haven't been watching Wemby inside. He can't get position. He losses the ball a ton. He should be playing away from games in space until his offensive game matures. Its not like the Spurs are the Pistons. They are a calculated organization that is probably the smartest in sports. They know how to develop him
He’s not shaq he’s developing a 3 while he grows into his body then he’ll be unstoppable inside and out. And 3’s help the real dpoy get back on D much faster
Are you expecting someone shooting 9 threes a game to be shooting 50% from the field??? Or are you talking about team record because they literally are at .500 right now
@@nathanwashington9784 He's talking about the team record. A record better than KD/Booker's team, and basically the same as Golden State (Steph) and Timberwolves (Ant) and Denver (Jokic). He's just a stupid troll

He’s incredible funky
Wemby winning 5 chips stright watch what i tellu
Funky getting the bag salute!
😂 no. Lmao
Yeah, he’s pretty good.
That’s the most hardcore video title I’ve ever read
There's about 18 youtube videos with the same title from other people these past few weeks and frankly even last year
@ so what, haven’t seen em
I think that's the point ,
I think he is making fun of UA-cam titles. it's called sarcasm...
he's genuinely absurd man
as a spurs fan it feels so weird for the team to be getting attention after getting used to the past seven years
Wemby get a sky hook basketball is over
Just a hook, he doesn’t even need to extend his arm that much he’s waaay bigger than any player except when he play against Zach Edey, Porzingis or Donovan Clingan, but he’s still taller and longer than them + way more athletic and agile
Why? That’s two points. Wemby shoots 40% from 3, it’s over. That will open Grand Canyon sized drivilanes.
They're in a great spot.
Sochan is what Ben Simmons wishes he was
ESPN hates the fact that he is French, it's sad.
All he needs in the post is the sky hook once he has that and his threes are falling and he improves his loop catching Goodnight nba.
Wemby's 36% from three is not mathematically better than the percentage he would have on close twos... It'd be like ~50%+ Threes are not always the analytical answer. If he's too weak to post, he's still a P&R threat. (Look at Chet)
Chet has Shai to p&r with tho, Wemby has Chris Paul.
Id love to see derrick white reunited with the spurs tbh
Ayyy funky sponsored vids
Hey funky, I was curious about whether or not victor wembanyama is too tall to have the right leverage even if he put on a reasonable amount of weight. Idk if you have been access to shooting stats for guys like minute bol but everyone I’ve talked to agree that guys at wemby’s height were always too skinny to be in the paint like people want wemby to be
I agree. His center of gravity is just too high; he could put on 30 pounds and he’d still be easy to power through in the right situation
@ I wanted to research guys like Ralph Sampson and minute bol because my family members don’t remember them being strong paint guys but their shot diet data doesn’t exist since they didn’t track that before 1996
@@tysonmaddox1090 yeah unfortunately. And guys like Porzingis stay out of the paint a lot of the time
Day 1 of asking funky to talk about the cavs
Zion Next to Wemby would feed generation
I just want Zion healthy even if he is playing with Bronny and Emoni Bates 😭
for the 25 games zion plays it would be incredible
zion should feed wemby
It’s a damn shame, games with both teams having a healthy roster feels like a rarity nowadays
Nah we don’t want that lazy foo
I think he is trying to be KD in stead of Giannis rn
Spurs are way ahead of schedule. No one expected them to be this good right now.
I don’t think Fox is the type of player you really need. He’s overpaid for what he does well.(he will be overpaid once he gets the contract extension he is expecting. He is a below avg. 3pt shooter and shoots a lot of them, and isn’t even really a true point guard. Only averaged over 6 assists twice I believe)
Honestly with who is already on this team:
-Wemby
-Sochan
-Castle
-Vassell
-Champagne
+ whoever they draft(minimum 2 draft picks potentially 3 with the bulls top 10 protected) in this draft
I see them just using the cap space to get high end role players like the Thunder did this offseason or to take on more expiring contracts for picks.
D fox or one of the ball brothers end up in San Antonio
Bro talks way too fast 🤣
Idk if it's just cause I'm a mavs homer, but Lively has had his number for 2 years in a row? Is he just not comfortable against those type of centers or is it just flukes?
Funky is there anything you don’t like about the NBA?
Dont use honey ‼️‼️
100% disagree. He should’ve average 40 on 60%+ efficiency but he wanna be Curry lol
You know why he does though?
The spurs have 30-40 million more cap space to use before all in. Meaning they will trade for, sign or draft wemby’s co star soon.
Vassell isn’t a great #2 option offensively but he will be a great #3 once Wemby gets his co star. Dynasty loading. Most picks over the next 7 drafts
Ok.
copy rusty buckets wemby title lmao
We broke him last night jus sayin
You broke nobody. His team mates did... like they did in the previous game against 76ers.
He still needs to work on his shooting. Dude is 7’5” and not even shooting 50%
Yeah and Lebron got an mvp caliber player as his sidekick and still got swept by Jokic 😂
@@Fawnswine that’s the problem. He takes too many bad threes
@@boredommademedothis that’s what I’m saying
Sorry the man is 12 ft tall and boneless can't give him nothing yet
😂
And nobodies even watching
They are though
First?
Jacking a bunch of bad 3s is breaking the game. He can easily shoot 70% in the paint. It doesn't even make sense mathematically. Nobody likes this basketball.
You obviously haven't been watching Wemby inside. He can't get position. He losses the ball a ton. He should be playing away from games in space until his offensive game matures. Its not like the Spurs are the Pistons. They are a calculated organization that is probably the smartest in sports. They know how to develop him
It will open up his game
And get injured
The Spurs are trying to develop his three point shot. It's clearly working because teams are starting to respect his three point shot
He’s not shaq he’s developing a 3 while he grows into his body then he’ll be unstoppable inside and out. And 3’s help the real dpoy get back on D much faster
Pitty he isn't breaking .500 or the ratings
Are you expecting someone shooting 9 threes a game to be shooting 50% from the field??? Or are you talking about team record because they literally are at .500 right now
@@nathanwashington9784 He's talking about the team record. A record better than KD/Booker's team, and basically the same as Golden State (Steph) and Timberwolves (Ant) and Denver (Jokic). He's just a stupid troll
Pitty you don't have a job
@@nathanwashington9784 ya and his shooting from 2 is really good 60%
Oh squirrel you are nuts.
get your bag my boy 🔥🫡 FUNKY10
