I find Dull Knife to be really fun to play. Despite its bulkiness with 210 total HP, you can't rushdown with it without taking severe damage.
You have to strategize how to fight against each target, play passively, THEN strike when you have an opening to deal devastating damage.
9/10 weapon, good job ian

@omoro1893 That's how it was the first time. It was obscenely oppressive. Like, you couldn't fight back, AND they had almost a MINUTE of invincibility that you couldn't do shit about as they drained your Stamina from 150 to 3.
Current Dull Knife is a meta pick, but it's balanced now. Even weapons like Snow Ring and Horror Axe are used more often.
@@christopherearth9714 they had 30 seconds of invincibility and you could decrease their timer faster by attacking them, plus they had heavily decreased walk speed so it wasnt THAT op before. Now this thing has 3 phases and a little bit TOO MUCH different abilities which you can combo and make sans life a literal hell
The only problem for now is that Dusttale Sans is just trash against this weapon, cause his level system don't work with that weapon, you need to kill all the phases to level up. I would say that killing phase 2 is enough to a kill for Dust level system
Yes, i cant even get some exp while fighting agaist 3 dull knife users
but this makes sense. In dt, you die and resurrect once anyway. Here, since you have 1 HP left, it is considered that you have never died.

Eh, their not a major threat. I used both Waterfall and Waterfall Fell and took on 2 Dull knife users that were competent, still won. Even in Snowdin, you have to account for their weaknesses and dodging their attacks.
Dust sans waterfall needs a buff because even thought its a 3500exp upgrade its trash and the snowdin phase is better than it which makes no sense
stuff not noted here:
- Happy Trick in phase 1 blinds sans
- The toast given to all chara's in Depressed becomes a slice of toast instead of toast on phase 2, and the 15 hp it heals splits based on how many chara's are alive. Just you = 15 hp heal, you and another person = 7.5 hp heal, and all three chara's = 5 hp heal
- SUFFOCATE in Miserable phase 3 is a two press move, you send out the projectile and then activate it, you can see where it'll shoot by the cloud on the ground
- I'm pretty sure all four Red Hands hits will guarantee to hit if you just hit the first one
- If you fight Bonewalker, good luck, because he will change you into the AFRAID emotion, you only do 70 dmg, can't change emotion or use abilities, and you have to use Calm Down to go back to normal but it's random when you change back if you don't you'll get text that goes something like "You tried to Calm Down, but your lungs struggled to breathe", but I think getting hit by certain Bonewalker attacks makes you AFRAID again, so good luck ig
- With CRIPPLE in phase 3, it's more like a melee, you get insane speed for like 1-2 seconds to catch up with sans, then you hit when ur right next to him.

Suffocate are useless when you fight with sans that in the dark map like battlebox sans skin or hardmode sans etc you literally cant see the cloud which make it impossible to hit
PS: The knife cutscene happens for everyone, I thought it was only after you’ve already gotten it because I got it very early after it just came out and the cutscene is new

If I was going to make a dull knife weapon, I'd make it work like killer knife. You start on emotion level 1, and can reach 2 and 3 and their respective abilities through damage. Then make it so it works with souls. And give it the Omori did not succumb with brief invulnerability (like 3 -5 second), but you have 1 hp treatment. And maybe if you reach level 4, you get... a full heal? Nah, maybe a 10 seconds of invulnerability? Idk, maybe not but without that... That'd probably finally make it balanced I think. The problem I see is that they keep trying to "rule of cool" it. Keep giving it too much strength. Unecessary. Though, I be okay with the current version staying as long as phase changes counted as kills for dust. I agree thay it's way too powerful though. I got solo'ed as regular sans by 1 dull knife user, granted the player way pretty good. But still. 1 guy managed to bring me all 3 phases down. Ridiculous.
The dull knife is pretty balanced outside of kill couting, If you make every kill count to dust a bad omori knife could basically end the match for you. I think the best way to handle the dust buff is to make the second and third kill count for his passive.

Soloing Sans (with 3 upgrades) isn't that hard though, I think it's fair that they can solo you since you can do that with most weapons (if you are good at the game)
Much as I love it, it's op. The only way it's fragile is if you're always in anger mode. With some skill, I dare say it's the best (non-admin) weapon.

You can also pet the cat at hyperdust bar to go to white space pet the cat till you see it dialouge change to "you feel dizzy"
I feel like as it is now, the three phases make it a bit too strong in some matchups. I like that it has three of them though. It makes the knife unique, so rather than nerfing that, I feel that they should lean into the tankiness and more technical abilities of the weapon. Lower overall M1 damage in the first two phases, Increase mana costs for moves and remove Happiness emotions ability to recover mana, but in exchange, increase the amount of mana you regain from calming down to make neutral useful, and increase the benefits you gain from inflicting status effects.
The mana regen on hit is intentional to carry momentum. You don't want to rushdown Sans into near death, then collapse and have to run away to regain mana. While Neutral is useless, that's kind of the point. It acts as a baseline for all other weapons to go off of while being a pitiful last resort.
How about making being hit while being sad take juice instead of hp just like in Omori? And yeah juice costs should really be higher, but maybe you could get some recovery items for juice so that you don't instantly run out
By the way agaisnt a 3dbb sans, apparently when it enter bonewalker mode you emotion become scared and you cant use your moves or change emotion for some sec,dont know if thats true you can test it 😊, anyway thanks for the showcase!

I think the most emotional and physical damage ive done is when I landed a perfect blaster circle using aftertale on someone using the final stage of anger on the dull knife

If u use at bonewalker you will get scared(this make u not deal too many damage)using calm down have 60% chance of not working if work your emotions will be back
The full knife is actually pretty hard to use. I've killed 3 dull users (all of their phases) with ruins fell

Fun fact: If you kill sans with any weapon when he is roped you still go to whitespace. For example me who had 8 wins and a stick managed to get the achievement
(This also works for morphs, i would know)

No not until you actually kill them, It gives EXP. the first two deaths / phases of the Dull Knife gives 10 while the last one gives 20

I feel like if a sans beats a phase, they should get exp, also they should be COMPLETELY invincible when going through phase transitions.
Btw when sans defeats phase 1 and 2 they get 10 exp and when they defeat phase 3 they get 20 more exp so yeah

The kill passives trigger when you get one to the third life, and again after.
Each phase gives 10 EXP, and phase 3 gives 20.
I think to make it better you should get exp (or kills with dust sans) every life that is used

The hitbox of this weapon is disgusting. Because you can take damage, including from the air, you don't have a good hitbox when hitting it. Also I was watching someone play this knife and his hitbox was literally 10 millimeters away from him.

everything seems balanced to me, it’s just the transition between lives is way too long, making ANY final a sans has USELESS.
(not to mention THREE EXTRA LIVES FOR SOMETHING AS EASY AND SIMPLE AS KILLING WITH EMPTY GUN ONCE)
Funny everyone mentions dust sans sucking against this thing… I obviously don’t wanna say otherwise, but outerdust can hold his own with both his stars and meteor… yes… camping is the start w/ him.

I mean its still really cancer. Not saying its Overpowered, because even 2 Dull users always on my grill, I can still deal with them. I use Dust sans ( preferably Waterfall ) and sometimes the Fell variant. I can say that their not that bad to deal with, since I have the weapon so I know what the emotions are ( Never using it cuz I dont like it ). I 85% of the time win, also I won with Outerdust too. Its just Im always on low stamina and constantly Jumping and strafing like if its bullet hell on steroids.

I feel like Dull knife is pretty balanced just needs a bit of tuning here and there but the one problem I have with it is how low wins it is it's 65 wins so you can use it in low wins severs and there's not a lot you can get in low wins severs that can really counter dull knife especially three of them unless they are bad

Dull knife is balanced just play better. Anger is strong but if you use it you will most likely die in seconds cus of 2x dmg.for miserable just attack he will die cus of his speed . Happy maybe quit hard but still easy if you play defensely.
