At first, the harsh spotlight from above bothered me because of the shadow on the snare... then I realized I could catch your technique by watching the shadow... Neil always said this was his hardest song to get right every time because of the speed and complexity, though the casual listener would never know. Again props to you... Always a treat to watch you play.
I can only play this song once a day because of the speed and my arm is dead by the end It’s incredible how good this guy is because he probably does tons of takes in one sitting.
Okay, Sterling... quick question for you. Neil always stated that this (Tom Sawyer) was one of his most challenging songs to play. Which Rush song was the most challenging for you to learn and play? I absolutely love ALL of your covers on Rush... you are flawless !!! 😎
Sterling I Have watched Several of Your Videos now. You Are by Far the Best Drummer on this Channel.Trust Me.!!! I Watched Several very Good drummers on You Tube. You Are The Best Man.!!!!!Your Beats Are Fantastic. Its Like Listening to To The Albums. You Are Spot on Brother !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@@Colebenson98 No, it is pretty much note for note. If you look at all of his other videos he gets every Rush song down pretty much as perfectly as he can. (Not counting the pitch and brands of the pieces, though)
I just want to know 2 things. 1. How to get it so perfect every time 2. What job do you have, because he must make a ton of money to both afford equipment, and be able to take care of it
Great freakin channel! Most of the cover channels seem to focus on one time era from rush. You cover near their entire catalog. Classic rock. Prog rock. Synth era. Newer stuff. All fantastic.
Neil Peart once said this was the most tricky song from him to keep up... and you my friend nailed every single note!! Neil would be proud!! thank you for all your efford and the videos!!
Sterling- love the channel. And your moving tribute to Neil after his death (posted 1/11/2020) had me in tears. I'm sure you've been told this before, but you remind me of a young Neil Peart. DO NOT CUT YOUR HAIR! LOL...keep hitting the skins, my friend. Cheers.
I should have mentioned this in my comment in his "LIMELIGHT" play-through video. A lot of NEIL PEART's drum lines and, compositions require a lot of energy. "Professor" PEART even stated himself, it is so easy to get ahead of the tempo, and play too fast. That is why it is important to listen to, and keep timing with the vocals & bass line. This song remains my most favorite song of all-time from all genres. I can listen to it 1 million times and, not get tired of it. #RIPNeilPeart #TheProfessor 🤘🤘🤘🤘
It looks like some tama snare... either artstar or imperialstar replaced head with reversed dot. The sound makes it seem like a 14” x 5”?? Not too sure but that’s as close as I can guess.
Love your work.. much respect. Noticed your right palm isn’t facing the drum heads. Your thumb faces up at the ceiling. Obviously - not prohibiting your playing. Just curious. You have your own style that works, I do as well for my left hand due to an abnormality in my thumb. - is it just your preference or any reason behind it? Love watching all of these. And really love seeing the view from above!! Peart was a master at composing - so cool to see all of this done at that level ! Cheers!! Ps: love seeing lots of activity and comments here. It’s a great ode to Peart - percussionist / composer masterpieces.
Sterling would love for you to add some LED lights somewhere that will illuminate your footwork. Would love to get a better look at your pedal mastery. Can hardly see anything clearly below your hands. This would be hugely appreciated!
I too video/film myself playing along with "covers", and wish to optimize my audio production. What's your go-to audio setup? Panning, and such....... How do you "produce", and "stream" the audio of these video's? I ask because your efforts have payed-off (regarding followers). Congrats BTW.....
i see you've remastered some of your drum solos. when's "The Big Money" remaster :). I think with your new and improved setup you can get some very similar sounds
Lol let's not get carried away. Maybe best Rush cover drummer on UA-cam, maybe. Making comments like yours is super silly with people like Samus66 and El Estapario Siberiano out there
@@666Lachrimae666yeah I forgot to specify but we are talking about different drummers who play different styles of rock. Sterling plays progressive rock while El Estapario plays heavy metal. Both are really good drummers though! I would also love to see Sterling Fuentes just some freestyle too!
Absolutely to the fuckin T man. Full respect. If you were thinking of going into other bands, I suggest that you try Nick Mason's work on Echoes, Dogs, and Pigs (3 Different Ones).
this is fire man! I really loved your videos! I would love to offer you a big opportunity regarding your talents. Do you have an email address I can reach you on?
This dude hits every note perfectly

My right hand hurts just thinking about this, man.
This guy is good, I wonder if he’s ever done any other Rush songs............,
He has done them all i think... if you havent seen it check his Xanadu out
I can only play this song once a day because of the speed and my arm is dead by the end It’s incredible how good this guy is because he probably does tons of takes in one sitting.
the ride in 3:00 is sickkkk, most of the drummers sleep o that cymbal arrangement but it adds so much to the song.
Dude, you nailed Neil like nobody else I've ever heard!
Usually my right hand is cramping half way through playing this, but you just made it look easy! Awesome job!

The kick drum is nicely mic’d up in this video. Great presentation 👍

finally someone that does the into correctly
Not Just the intro but the whole song note by note
@@Breno6181 of course that too. But I was just complementing the intro. I know you know, not to many people get it

well my dad still has pieces from his drumset from the early 90's so some stuff might be old but he cleans it yk but i agree with you
Why does everyone care so much about what someone does for a living? Don't be so nosy.

This is perfect, even down to the specific cymbals and toms you hit

Never ever seen a best cover of that song. And probably I´ll not see. Congrats.
Superb job. One of the best covers I've seen yet of a song Neil himself found challenging to play correctly every time in concert. Well done Sir!
What impresses me is not the technique, but the amount of parts he can memorize. I can barely remember which side to hold the sticks...
Excellent cover sir! I applaud you 👏
Neil Peart always said this was hardest tune for Him to continually play the same! Well done Sterling!👍🤘🤙✌
True, because everyone knows it so well he said it caused him stress
Almost every Rush song, hehe..

You know RUSH might be looking for a new drummer? Rest in peace Neil. You are missed deeply.
Amazing as always!
Bravo beautifully played👍👍
A+ FOR EXCELLENT. NOTHING MORE NEEDS TO BE SAID
I can see you moved your cymbals and splash to be more like Neil’s early drum sets
