I grew up in the Philippines and I never had to take a hot shower. I was always feeling warm so a cold shower was the most refreshing thing! I think you'll do just fine. You'll learn to live like an island boy 🏝️
You’re right! I’m well on the way. Just takes time to form new habits. Loving the process though. 🙂
Not very long ago, just three, four generations, millions of people in the USA didn't have water heaters, indoor CR and plumbing, telephones, refrigerators, washing machines, even electricity.
@@jamesrecknor6752 So true! Great point 👍
The view is priceless. Nice place bud. Just a fridge, wifi & hot shower, you’re good to go. 👍🏼🇵🇭
Absolutely! 🙏🙂
Are u serious brother? That's $230/ month. Install a hot water gadget and put in a fridge. Man, that's a heck of a deal! Not to mention you are living in the most beautiful island in the world!
Studio apartment in the US can cost up to $1800/mo. If you eat like a local it'll only cost you $2-3/ day. Two hours plane or boat ride you are in the most beautiful islands. If you are in Manila you can hang in the modern cities like BGC and Makati. Sign me up!
I live in Florida by the beach, Jay knows what it costs to live out here. His channel is very new. I have a feeling it'll grow over time. Who knows, maybe someone will be interested.
Well said and certainly no complaints here!!! I was just telling a friend that this is one of the simplest places I’ve ever lived but I’ve never been happier. This island is such a wonderful place. 🙂
You can spruce it up if you like and make it homey. Buy some cushions for the sofa, lick of paint on the walls, bedroom & living room lamps. There must be a way for you to have hot water. The place can be improved and for the price, it’s good. For a year’s rent there is average monthly rent in London
Yea crazy right! I’ll be making some improvements over the next week. 🙂
@@JayOrCruise
No, don't improve it. They're going to increase the rent.
13,000 pesos seems to be a good deal.
The rooster and traffic noise might be bothersome.
Still, what I would give to be in that island now.
Toronto sucks right now. It's the middle of May and it's 18 degrees Celsius!
Man I need to retire in the Philippines someday! My electric bill for this winter is 365. Ugh I need to do something lol
I feel ya! It was a big reason I chose this location vs Florida.
Filipinos way of a hot shower is by adding a big kettle of boiling water in that big pail of water to your desired temp. Then use the "tabo" pouring it on you!!
Oh that’s smart! I’ll do that! 🙏
Things will get better and easier.
That’s the goal right! 🙂
Can't beat the cost. Should leave some extra money at the end of the month to dial it in the way you want it. Ice baths are all the rage right now so you're part of that club. How did you find the place? Word of mouth?
Ha! True true. Yes. Word of mouth. I’ve been asking everyone I meet.
Nice Jay. It's perfect for you and you'll probably be out and about most days. Just a nice and cozy spot for you to rest and recharge. I wonder if you can put the the table with the stove outside since it's covered anyways and that way you'll have open air and cooking aromas won't linger inside. Then if you want a fridge, you'll have space for it. Look at me reconfiguring your space. Lol. You'll figure it out. Take care.
That’s actually a great idea! Thanks 🙏 Reconfigure away! 😂
I agree. 👍🏼
best of luck in your new life in siargao!!
Thanks so much!! 🙏
Wow, way to go, man. That's an awesome rent for everything.
🙏🙂
I think it’s a really good price for the place you’re getting. That said, enjoy your adventures in Siargao and beyond.👍🏼❤️
Thanks! 😃
good luck. nice place. i really hope you'll do well. hehehe
Thanks! 🙏
Take a water bottle and leave it out in the sun. Hot water for shower! We remodeled our ancestral house and had power off for several weeks. That's how we took shower's. All you really needed was 2 gallons to get the job done.
Love this idea! I’m definitely doing that! 🙏
Been dying to see SIARGAO... Been watching so much vlogs about it.. Wanted to teleport right freaken' now😂
Come on kev! Like we say… nothing to it but to do it!! 🙂
@@JayOrCruise Thanks so much. Im taking notes on some the places you've been too.. Thanks so much for sharing this. You're a life saver. 🙌

Thanks for sharing
Appreciate it! Thanks for watching.
Love the view from your balcony! I just went home dec and I do miss my hot shower when I’m there! The cold water sure wakes me up up though! 😄
👆exactly! Sometimes we just need a little hot water 😂
all in?? 13,000 including the electricity? time to never turn off the AC then 😂😂😂😂

😂🤣
Oh really?? Nice! I’ll take a look! Thanks

👆he gets it
Jay that’s a pretty good deal living in Siargao. You got a nice mountain view but where is the ocean? It’s good also that you’re not on the ground floor just in case there’s flooding. You should’ve seen my face when you said no hot water 😂 Did you have a contract to sign? Have a nice day 😇
Have a male cat 🐈⬛ Cat kills cockroaches and rats 😂
Ocean is 2 minutes away! The rentals up here are pretty scarce so I feel pretty fortunate to have found this one!
Oh and no contract. I just pay them month to month.
🤣👍
There’s nothing like having your own pad, further cementing your roots in the island.
That’s right! Starting to feel like home a little more every day 🙂
Wow nice apartment, you can purchase a heater worth 3-5k in hardwares.
Thanks! I’ll look into it 🙂
Was that a cockroach 😳😳😳😅🙈 beautiful view though. Enjoy 🙏
🤣 yea I saw that after. Too funny. Don’t worry. It’s not infested or anything. Just a random bug.
OMG…the closing scene of the motorcycle loaded with the family is sooooooooo PH.
😂🇵🇭
A water heater just for the shower is quite cheap. If you have good internet the laptop works fine as a streaming TV also. Maybe you can rent a fridge from someone? 15,000 pesos? That's a joke! Landlord would never ask another Filipino for that high of a rent. All of us foreigners are supposedly rich!!
Appreciate the insight. I’m not sure where you’re located but here rentals are pretty scarce. Nice rentals are rare. I looked at a the ones available in this area and I feel lucky to have found this one. 13k works for me. Supply and demand you know? 🤙
How much is that in US dollars? Thanks!
😎👍🇺🇸
🙏🙂
Each time a rooster crows, you should get 1000 Pesos off of your bill. Its the worst part about island living
The rooster crows every 15 seconds….good luck!!!! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!…I would shoot myself if I lived there.
😂 Russell is a good manok!
Your a young man & I'm old (73) - but I'm not impressed with that price for the furnishings - after watching many other videos all over the islands. Especially where it's at in such a remote area ? -- Very hard to transport a fridge when you move too ? --- The roosters welcomed you there & I have to wonder if barking dogs are next ?
Dude, damn you need to come home and get a job if that's all you can afford.
🤣 I’m good dude but thanks.
All he can afford? What a breath taking view on a budget 😆 who cares bro you sound mad he spends less and probably has a better view then you 😉
I think you may be paying 1500 peso to much.just my guess.
I have looked all around this area for the past month and asked everyone I meet if they know of anything to rent. I’ve seen 10 different places and this is so far the nicest place, with the most amenities for what I’m paying. So much so I’ve extended another month. IF I find anything that’s a better value, I’ll post an update!
