In the wake of the Birmingham Quran manuscript news story of 2015, Gabriel Said Reynolds, professor of Islamic Studies and Theology, published a commentary clarifying the unique differences between extant ancient Qur'an copies. He defines the lower text of the Sana'a palimpsest as ”a rare Qur’anic palimpsest - a manuscript preserving an original Qur’an text that had been erased and written over with a new Qur’an text.” Reynolds explains that the lower script of the Sana'a palimpsest ”has so many variants that one might imagine it is a vestige of an ancient version that somehow survived Uthman’s burning of all versions of the Qur’an except his own.” He concludes this finding is problematic because the Sana'a variants ”do not match the variants reported in medieval literature for those codices kept by companions” of Muhammad. So the Koran is the perfect unchanged word of God as revealed to Mohammed, except for the bits Mohammed forgot, or the bits he changed or added later. And his forgetfulness and inventions were all part of God's plan. And as time went by and circumstances changed, the perfect unchanged Koran adapted by ensuring that what was revealed to Mohammed was indeed compatible with later times. In addition, unlike the Bible, there are no prophesies from God in the Quran, no did Mohammed perform any miracles. That should raise some red flags, otherwise anyone could claim anything, as Mohammed did. The Bible has hundreds of prophesies about the coming Savior -Jesus Christ. Some are vague while others are obvious. In addition, the Bible was inspired through multiple men in different lands and over thousands of years, yet it is completely cohesive. And it was written down, versus the Quran, which was passed down orally, which invites inaccuracies. To put such faith in just some inaccurate, inconsistent ideas of what only one man supposedly said explains why Muslim countries are so backward. History shows these are not enlightened people. Fundamentally I describe mysel as an atheist: Culturally I am Christian, being brought up in that ethos now I am struggling to understand Islam, primarily because of the recent event unfolding. Personally I now think that Islam is more a Political system than a religion. I think Islam is a deadly threat to the value systems in the UK. On BBC program entitled "The Big Questions" when one woman brought up the question of Taqiyya, an Islamic started rantong about predjudice. Personally I think rants on such a program should be prohibited & offenders removed physicall by bouncers. I now veer to the view that Islam should be regarded as more of a cult than a religion & as such not protected by freedom of religion. This represents a big shift in my viewpoint. Al-Lat sounds as though she ought to be the wife of Al-lah. Is there any uncertainty as to her position and relationships ? And is anything much known about the other deities in the pre-Islamic Meccan pantheon ? Manat is interesting - there is a god named Meni in Isaiah 65, paired with a deity named Gad - apparently a god of luck. Isaiah 65 is about 900 years older than Mohammed.
The inception of the Qu'ran bears all the marks of having been concocted by man rather than being revealed by a deity. It certainly has similarities with the "revelation" of book of Mormon and the development of the Mormon cult in its early years.
I'd be interested to see people's thoughts to my thought here. I've assessed the claim that Mohamed is the Spirit of Truth and here is my conclusion. It's primarily based on this verse. Mark 3: 28 "Truly I say to you, all sins shall be forgiven the sons of men, and whatever blasphemies they utter; 29. but whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit never has forgiveness, but is guilty of an eternal sin" 30. - because they were saying, "He has an unclean spirit." If A=B, and B=C, then C=A. In other words, Jesus worked through the power of the Holy Spirit, and they said he had an unclean spirit. Mohamed claims to be the Spirit of Truth, who is in fact the Holy Spirit. Making oneself equal to God is blasphemy. John 10: 36. do you say of Him, whom the Father sanctified and sent into the world, 'You are blaspheming,' because I said, 'I am the Son of God'? Mohamed makes himself equal to the Holy Spirit, which is a clear cut case of blasphemy of the Holy Spirit. I won't be the one to judge, but I would never risk committing this sin.

I am particularly amazed that in view of all the inconsistencies and changes that have historically been made to the Quran and that are part of the record Christians understood this religion/ideology as false and cultic. I was thinking of the teachings and injunctions made by the apostle Paul in the Letter to the Galatians. Is it then surprising for Mohammed to find out that Christians would not convert and thought his preaching was anathema. So those who believe in Allah and hold fast to Him - He will admit them to mercy from Himself and bounty and guide them to Himself on a straight path.

Non Canonical Gospels mentioned Jesus speaking from the cradle and making birds of clay, so does the Koran much later, Rabbinic traditions says that Satan fell because it didn't bow to Adam, so does the Koran. Just now I checked about stoning to death. I checked verses of Quran and no where it is mentioned to kill a person by stoning but stoning to death is mentioned in Bible? Yes, it is true the people who were with Mohd which they call them sahaba, few of them were hypocrites no doubt. Those sahabas did so many bad things to prophet's family. There is verses in Quran about sahaba being hypocrites. They must have changed few verses of Quran possible.

Third Caliph Syaidina Uthman compiled the Koran into a book for the first time. He also son in law of the Prophet. He was one of the 10 Muslim whom Prophet had guaranteed would go to paradise. So he was pious and was given the task of writing the revelation. Abdullah the mentioned was taken prisoner. He was brought to the Prophet and asked for apology. An apology was given.

Jesus words do not contradict the truth that God's message is for all people (psalms 22:57, Isaiah 56:7) after all, when Jesus said these words he was in gentile territory on a mission to gentile people. In the wake of the Birmingham Quran manuscript news story of 2015, Gabriel Said Reynolds, professor of Islamic Studies and Theology, published a commentary clarifying the unique differences between extant ancient Qur'an copies. He defines the lower text of the Sana'a palimpsest as ”a rare Qur’anic palimpsest - a manuscript preserving an original Qur’an text that had been erased and written over with a new Qur’an text.” Reynolds explains that the lower script of the Sana'a palimpsest ”has so many variants that one might imagine it is a vestige of an ancient version that somehow survived Uthman’s burning of all versions of the Qur’an except his own.” He concludes this finding is problematic because the Sana'a variants ”do not match the variants reported in medieval literature for those codices kept by companions” of Muhammad. If the recitation by Gabriel took 13 years where are the recordings made then? Why are the earliest remaining Qurans incomplete and different? Where is Mohammad's copy or that of his wives? If the Quran is so supremely important then why has the original - if there was one - disappeared!?
So the Koran is the perfect unchanged word of God as revealed to Mohammed, except for the bits Mohammed forgot, or the bits he changed or added later. And his forgetfulness and inventions were all part of God's plan. And as time went by and circumstances changed, the perfect unchanged Koran adapted by ensuring that what was revealed to Mohammed was indeed compatible with later times.

In addition, unlike the Bible, there are no prophesies from God in the Quran, no did Mohammed perform any miracles. That should raise some red flags, otherwise anyone could claim anything, as Mohammed did. The Bible has hundreds of prophesies about the coming Savior -Jesus Christ. Some are vague while others are obvious. In addition, the Bible was inspired through multiple men in different lands and over thousands of years, yet it is completely cohesive. On BBC program entitled "The Big Questions" when one woman brought up the question of Taqiyya, an Islamic started rantong about predjudice. Christ isnt another god who exists with God, He is a part of God. He tells you in several verses He is He. He is a part of God, they exist as one. They may stand in different places, but they are they same. His followers believe in one God, the God of Abraham. They believe that Christ is the God of Abraham. I am particularly amazed that in view of all the inconsistencies and changes that have historically been made to the Quran and that are part of the record Christians understood this religion/ideology as false and cultic. I was thinking of the teachings and injunctions made by the apostle Paul in the Letter to the Galatians. was supremely successful on both the religious and secular levels. Of humble
origins, Muhammad founded and promulgated one of the world's great religions,

Muhammad, however, was born in the year 570, in the city of Mecca, in southern
Arabia, at that time a backward area of the world, far from the centers
of trade, art, and learning. Orphaned at age six, he was reared in modest
surroundings. Islamic tradition tells us that he was illiterate. His economic
position improved when, at age twenty-five, he married a wealthy widow.
Nevertheless, as he approached forty, there was little outward indication
that he was a remarkable person. Most Arabs at that time were pagans, who
believed in many gods. There were, however, in Mecca, a small number of
Jews and Christians; it was from them no doubt that Muhammad first learned
of a single, omnipotent God who ruled the entire universe. When he was
forty years old, Muhammad became convinced that this one true God (Allah)
was speaking to him, and had chosen him to spread the true faith. For three
years, Muhammad preached only to close friends and associates. Then, about
613, he began preaching in public. As he slowly gained converts, the Meccan
authorities came to consider him a dangerous nuisance. In 622, fearing
for his safety, Muhammad fled to Medina (a city some 200 miles north of
Mecca), where he had been offered a position of considerable political
power. This flight, called the Hegira, was the turning point of the Prophet's
life. In Mecca, he had had few followers. In Medina, he had many more,
and he soon acquired an influence that made him a virtual dictator. During
the next few years, while Muhammad's following grew rapidly, a series of
battles were fought between Medina and Mecca. This was ended in 630 with
Muhammad's triumphant return to Mecca as conqueror. The remaining two and
one-half years of his life witnessed the rapid conversion of the Arab tribes
to the new religion.

Just now I checked about stoning to death. I checked verses of Quran and no where it is mentioned to kill a person by stoning but stoning to death is mentioned in Bible? Yes, it is true the people who were with Mohd which they call them sahaba, few of them were hypocrites no doubt. Those sahabas did so many bad things to prophet's family. There is verses in Quran about sahaba being hypocrites. They must have changed few verses of Quran possible.

They discuss against another group of Muslims who believed (and still believe) that Qur'an is not created but has existed from the beginning. Third Caliph Syaidina Uthman compiled the Koran into a book for the first time. He also son in law of the Prophet. He was one of the 10 Muslim whom Prophet had guaranteed would go to paradise. So he was pious and was given the task of writing the revelation.

There are no gods
It is well known that Yazid, the king of Syria employed a number of scholars from Persia to rewrite the Koran. He destroyed the original Koran , killed all known relatives of Mohamed.
That's a rubbish argument on two fronts: a text being "perfectly preserved" has no bearing on whether the entirety of it is true (i.e. a work of fiction can be "perfectly preserved" but that wouldn't mean there's a Harry Potter, Romeo, etc), and lastly, the koran has been modified from the earliest versions which were destroyed (I believe the reference to these events are in the hadith, one about the donkey eating a page or something is relevant also).
The Greek word which is translated as "dogs" here is kunariois which is the diminuitive of the word and is better translated as "little dogs." The rabbis often spoke of the Gentiles as dogs"(Jesus) says not 'dogs,' but 'little dogs,' i.e. household, favorite dogs, and the woman cleverly catches at the expression, arguing that if the Gentiles are household dogs, then it is only right that they should be fed with the crumbs that fall from their master's table."

You are quite right! people like him promote the absurdities while people like Hamza Yusuf promote the oneness of God as well as that of humanity.
The most obviously MAN made book/ideology/religion, it’s 80% political & as such is a constantly changing & building set of rules not from above but from Muhammad’s own mind, when the occasions came, a ruling or verse that solves any issues would neatly arrive thus solving any problems or enabling any behavior halal the prophet wished to engage in.
How any thinking person can read this material & not see this is beyond me. Even Aisha comments on how allah seems to hurry after he’s wants. She wasn’t stupid at all Aisha hit the nail square on the head there.

I believe in enlightenment that Mr Spencer is providing about facts. Quran is just an interesting Arabic literature based on greater literature bible.
Are you sure you're "read the book"? Are you certain an all-knowing deity would make claims similar to those in al Mu'minun 12-14? Al Tariq 7? Al Kahf 86?
What became of the adult suckling verse and the verse of stoning? Does al Kafirun declare that we worship the same "god"?

What I find most revealing is the statement by MrRidez, "u have no knowledge. read the book". It's obvious he hasn't read "the book" or he surely wouldn't point anyone in that direction. I thought maybe he'd read those few verses and learn to stop making that ignorant request, or he'd be so repulsed by Allah's stupidity, he'd apostatize. German scholar Salomon Reinach has it right, but I consider the Quran to be much lower than mediocre; it's feeble-minded.

In other words he is saying, I have come first for the Jews. Jesus words do not contradict the truth that God's message is for all people (psalms 22:57, Isaiah 56:7) after all, when Jesus said these words he was in gentile territory on a mission to gentile people. He ministered to gentiles on many other occasions also.
