- 2 X Compact Flash upgrades, both internal and external, for the E-MU e6400 Classic Sampler. Also , an additional ROM upgrade that takes this sampler to OS V4.62. This enables Ensoniq ASR-10 direct sample import, amongst other things. Narration by Solomon Lord. Music by Lux Voltaire.
Good to see so many Aussies using E-mus. Akai, Ensoniq and Roland were big here in the mid 90's , but Emu was the bees neez outside of Fairlight.

Planning on adding a Gotek drive to my e6400 classic - will it be ok power-wise? or does it draw too much power. I heard the PSU on these samplers can be a bit fussy!

Cool, tons of info on e6400. Will the Gotek work with a standard e6400 classic (OS 4.2)? Maybe I'm missing something but why not just use the Gotek USB to save rather than the complex CF setup?
Yes, but the gotek usb is not worth the hassle to flip samples in and out when the SCSI devices provide far more flexibility and efficiency in terms of file saving.
G-sus . That is one pimpedout E-mu .... I really need to pimp my E6400ULTRA ... need to do all this . specially a card reader so as to get filles loaded on the the computer ... I used to have it all plugged in via scsi but after changing to mac we don't use the Emu as much...
whats the difference between the 6400Ultra and jsut 6400?.. is it just HD size?.. or is the sound quality different, and has different filters

Ultra has faster processor, a few additions to the OS like beat-munging.

No, unfortunately. It has to be E-mu formatted. Either done on the sampler or via Chicken Systems Translator. These mods only apply to E-mu Classic (NOT Ultra, which can read FAT32 with OS 4.70).
Man,what a mess. I must think 4 times before I decide to buy E6400. ;)
This stuff is not a compulsory upgrade. :)
