      In fact, this is only possible because. Unlike Russia, it is very hard to recruit soldiers for Ukraine and even just mathematically there are 4 times fewer people in Ukraine. So drones are the only way out for them. For Russia, a soldier is cheaper than a drone, so it doesn't make much sense

      @JojoJoget Western development started decades before this war started and continues to advance... we had purpose built drones but not in number for ukr to use... any car or atv turned into a drone is several decades old, but as a military platform these weren't done much per gov contractors make billions off of designing purpose built units instead of cheap and easy hybrid platforms like remote car or atv with remote gun operation... nothing ukr is doing is new, it's just they are going the cheap route which our contractors should've done...
      With that said rus is leading in anti drone tech but it's taking time to be deployed in mass to all Frontline units; thus it's not impressive for much ukr to attach less equipped Frontline forces; also remember the attack here failed...
      Though I don't like corrupt ukr I was pissed that they took so long to employ drone units even something as basic as turning a civilian car into a remote operated vehicle... so many lives lost for corrupt gov

Expect autonomous AI platforms to rule the battlefield within the next few years. There is absolutely no reason to have a tank crew actually inside the tank today other than jamming and lag between command and actual action of the tank. And same is true for many other roles too. Once this issue is solved (for example by using AI to fully operate the vehicle), wars will be fought between office cubicles hundreds or thousands of kilometers apart from each other. "Soldiers" will wear slacks and shirts and simply wait for a kill request from one of the hundreds of robots under their "command". They will just look at the picture of the target and either approve or deny the action (kill). The good thing is that fewer soldiers will die, the bad thing is that it will significantly lower the barrier of entry into a conflict so more civilians will die instead.

    • @barbarasalesh4873
      @barbarasalesh4873 12 днів тому +1

      I actually believe this assesment to be wrong in the long run. First of all, all technologies will have adversaries. Something created to effectivly jam or disrupt them. Drones are currently the stars, but so where tanks and planes. Nowadays nighter tanks or planes can just do as they please and the drones won't be able to do so for long, too. Its simple a fact of technological development. At the end shit balances itself out to such a degree that you need boots on the ground the old fashioned way to force a devlopment. Ukraine is a good example for that. They don't hold up because of their tech - but because a shitload of soldiers manning the trenches holding back the orcs. And the second maybe even more important aspect: costs. Tech costs. It will cost more, when stuff gets more sophisticated. But money runs out. And so do resources. Essentialy it will always lead back to man with rifles shoot each other withing visual range.

      I don't think humanoid robots will be coming for a long time. It's just much much simpler, easier, cheaper to have a different form factor than to arbitrarily make them "people shaped"

    The original Star Trek series made an episode about what happens to people when you take all of the pain and suffering out of war essentially it just becomes endless there is no reason for peace and it just keeps escalating and when the terrible battles of the future do reach population centers total destruction without remorse is assured to quote Robert E Lee “it is good that war is so terrible otherwise we would grow too fond of it”

    Add AI to these UGV drones. Deploy them and geofence them, then have them target soft heat signatures. Make them hide while they occasionally wake to search for targets. Add solar panel to let them charge a little while asleep or at least allow them to loiter and search indefinitely.
