@JojoJoget Western development started decades before this war started and continues to advance... we had purpose built drones but not in number for ukr to use... any car or atv turned into a drone is several decades old, but as a military platform these weren't done much per gov contractors make billions off of designing purpose built units instead of cheap and easy hybrid platforms like remote car or atv with remote gun operation... nothing ukr is doing is new, it's just they are going the cheap route which our contractors should've done... With that said rus is leading in anti drone tech but it's taking time to be deployed in mass to all Frontline units; thus it's not impressive for much ukr to attach less equipped Frontline forces; also remember the attack here failed... Though I don't like corrupt ukr I was pissed that they took so long to employ drone units even something as basic as turning a civilian car into a remote operated vehicle... so many lives lost for corrupt gov

Problem for now is that a single soldier with grenade launcher is more effective, accurate and faster than drones, while being able to destroy them... That being said, assault that combine several types of drones that can give distraction, scouting, cover and fire support, with added hunan squad whould be extremely cost effective as its easier to replace a drone, than it is to replace a human.
Ukraine is merely the latest field test, also the West aren’t the only ones testing their weapons, Iran and China are as well. Once the war is over, they move on to the next one or they make sure this war lasts as long as possible.

Ukraine is certainly at the forefront of modern military warfare. Most of us analysts have expected this evolution for a decade. We are just at the beginning. Expect autonomous AI platforms to rule the battlefield within the next few years. Humans take a full second to understand the current battlefield conditions, while AI can act within a few Milli-seconds.
There is absolutely no reason to have a tank crew actually inside the tank today other than jamming and lag between command and actual action of the tank. And same is true for many other roles too. Once this issue is solved (for example by using AI to fully operate the vehicle), wars will be fought between office cubicles hundreds or thousands of kilometers apart from each other. "Soldiers" will wear slacks and shirts and simply wait for a kill request from one of the hundreds of robots under their "command". They will just look at the picture of the target and either approve or deny the action (kill). The good thing is that fewer soldiers will die, the bad thing is that it will significantly lower the barrier of entry into a conflict so more civilians will die instead.
I actually believe this assesment to be wrong in the long run. First of all, all technologies will have adversaries. Something created to effectivly jam or disrupt them. Drones are currently the stars, but so where tanks and planes. Nowadays nighter tanks or planes can just do as they please and the drones won't be able to do so for long, too. Its simple a fact of technological development. At the end shit balances itself out to such a degree that you need boots on the ground the old fashioned way to force a devlopment. Ukraine is a good example for that. They don't hold up because of their tech - but because a shitload of soldiers manning the trenches holding back the orcs. And the second maybe even more important aspect: costs. Tech costs. It will cost more, when stuff gets more sophisticated. But money runs out. And so do resources. Essentialy it will always lead back to man with rifles shoot each other withing visual range.

Well, there are few countries that have a f-load of equipment. In the west, it's the USA. Because they negociated the "if you buy us, uncle sam will be here". Now the promise is obviously broken, it will take years, maybe decades, before new equipment warehouses appear. In the meanwhile, smaller countries have already given what they could spare, and tryed to ramp up the production in a way it makes sense. Or they offer training. Rent. Civilian support.

I hope some agency will provide high end AI software for these combat drones to allow autonomous target identification/classification and engagement. I know by now the US surely has that software and I hope they give it to them.
