How to turn off automatic updates in Windows 10 permanently
Вставка
- Опубліковано 27 лип 2020
- Windows updates are important, but sometimes they happen at inconvenient times. Windows 10 makes it possible to pause or disable automatic updates, giving you more control over when the updates occur. If you're using Windows 10 Home, you are only able to pause updates for up to 35 days. If you're using Windows 10 Pro, you are given the option to permanently disable automatic updates by editing your group policy. In this video, Mike will show you both ways of pausing and/or disabling updates on both Windows 10 Home and Pro.

NO ONE came here for a PAUSE of updates at all. WE WANT TO TURN THEM OFF PERIOD
This guy is the father I never had
Hahaha, thanks!!
@@mikerodrick5354 You're a fantastic teacher!
@Ed Kelly I don't know dude, all you have to do is skip to the last part. You are like those people who complain about ads when there's ad blocker, videos are made for all kinds of viewers that's why he explains that, otherwise people would be asking why they cannot disable it in the home version.
@Ed Kelly He didn't ramble on. Windows 10 is a maze of gooey weirdness, best to have an in depth explanation
Xdxdxdxd😂
First thing he should say is the most important thing for most users, and what's buried in the text: "If you're using Windows 10 Home, you are only able to pause updates for up to 35 days."
He is TOTALLY WRONG there you can turn off Updates in Windows 10 Home in about 1 minute or less.
The real instruction starts at 5.40.

Thank you!

thanks bro
Wow this is the best how to- tutorials I have ever seen. Even a person who never touched a computer in their lives can follow your step by step instructions . Kudus.
Thank you!!
I was downloading something that was 13gb and I left the computer to install it overnight and the update ruined the download
Extremely frustrating!
@@mikerodrick5354 Indeed, Mike Rodrick ! Very Frustrating.
Me too brother, I was almost done downloading a new game that took all day, then Windows automatically updated without me asking! Extremely frustrating.
no body should update any thing in ur computer i have a windows 2007 computer and it runs fine
I like my modern operating systems. Technology has changed quite a bit in 13 years. Always update your computer!
I hope you are connecting through a modern firewall or security appliance.
Amen. What the F can new systems do that the old ones can't because let's be honest, 99.999999 percent of people only watch movies, listen to music, and surf the net.
My Windows 7 PC runs better than my Windows 10 overall. If it wasn't for planned obsolescence I would never upgrade.
I bet it runs way better without bloatware causing your pc to run slow, or the update crashing and sucking up 100% cpu for weeks. Updates are bs.
This is a nice and clean tutorial.Nice work!!!It's the first tutorial I can follow while implementing the instructions in it
Thank you!!
I have never seen anyone explaining something related to windows so clear!! Thanks a lot man!By the way I subscribed…
Thank you so much for the very detailed explanation, much appreciated
Thank you so much! This was super helpful also, easy to understand and follow.
You're welcome!
Thank you so much! I was getting that stupid and annoying 'Almost time to restart' dialog, which prevented me from controlling stuff like a car in a racing game. But this turned off the dialog as well! You're golden!
You're welcome!
This was really helpful and straight forward so thank you so much for the video👍🏻👍🏻
You're welcome!
Thank you ! I've been having issues with my laptop staying at 100% Disk Space for hours and basically being unusable. Was told to try disabling automatic updates and this worked!
Glad we could help!
Love this! I am one of those people who feels cursed with auto-updates always right in the middle of something vitally important, OR when I am trying to shut things down for sleepy time and forced to stare at a blue screen with an order: "Don't turn off your computer. (ie: YOU may NOT sleep until we are done with you!!)" Thanks very, very much.👍
So happy to help! Glad you enjoyed the video!
Thank you so much! the 20H2 update has been messing with my screen for months! that really helped.
You're welcome, glad it helped!!
This is just lovely work. Thank you for your help. i have lost my structural design licence because of this Auto Update many times. thank you
You're welcome!
Mr. Rodrick, you have GREATLY eased my mind! A friend recently "gifted" me a refurbished HP laptop, upgraded from Windows 7 to Windows 10 Pro. I know he meant well, but all I needed was a Windows system to download the Spooky2 Rife machine software. The Spooky2 generators run the Rife frequencies which need to run uninterrupted, sometimes 24/7 for 11 days! No wifi or ethernet connection necessary. In addition to permanently disabling automatic updates, I've learned how to turn off the wifi connection and setting the sleep mode to "Never." You,, sir, CLEARLY explained and demonstrated how to permanently disable automatic updates. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
A windows update legit fucked up my fulltime business of streaming some products that I make. I had no idea what was going on with my camera, upload speed, etc and tried everything until someone said "roll back your windows update". That literally fixed all my technical issues, so now I want to disable that shit permanently. Thank you for this video.
You're welcome!
You still need the security updates.
Jokes on them, a series of bugs left over from an Android Emulator has left my computer literally unupdatable for months.
OMG, this is such a big help to my IT career. Cheers to Mike for this amazing tutorial.
the hundred twenty three dislikes are windows update technicians employees or a mix of ppl that Loves those lovely inconvenient times that windows decides to update and restart the pc
🤣
Just Perfect. Thank You! ❤️
You're welcome!
Really informative. Thank you sir. ❤️👍🏻
You're welcome!
Thank you. step by step with explanation and easily followed. 👍👍👍
Thanks, very useful! I have a limited data usage network, so this helps me out a lot.
You're welcome! Glad to help!
A life-saving tutorial. Thank you so much😊
I already knew the first one but I like the way you explain things and are helping others so I like! bummer I chose home and not pro when building lmao
Thanks!
This video is informative, thanks
This was a great tutorial, especially for people who are a bit slower, like me, lol. It was easy to understand and the solution provided works like a charm.
Glad it helped!
Like you, Marvin, I have no idea how to do things like this. Other tutorial videos I've watched are helpful to a certain point, until I click on the next part and my screen is WAY different than the one in the video! After that, I'm totally lost. My dad used to tell me, "Rick, always remember, 'Some people are fast, some are half-fast.'" (read that out loud and you'll understand the joke)
@@muchkneaded It took me a while to get it, guess I'm truly "half-fast"!
Thank you so much, very clear!
Thanks alot man!
Helped me to get rid of this long standing problem!
❣️
You're welcome!!
the only one channel that i been back watching to disable permanently update of windows 10 after i format...thank's my men great teacher...

This is one of the best videos on UA-cam, a perfect presentation.
Wow, thank you! Glad you enjoyed the video
Amazing tutorial, perfect!
Thanks!!
Perfect video. Thank you
You're welcome!
Thank you so much. Security is the concern. Microsoft updates for Aug 2021 causesd my computer to turn off in the middle of my work. Thought i needed a new computer. So i rolled back/uninstalled that update and all is fine, but it continue to want to update. So your instructions really help. When you have an older model computers these updates are not needed only security. Thank you again.
MORE POWER TO YOU AND YOUR TEAM, CONTINUE HELPING PEOPLE WITH DIFFICULTIES IN COMPUTERS. sorry all caps. that just shows how excited I am to discover this video. :)
You're welcome, love the enthusiasm!!
Thanks for a clear and concise tutorial.
I loved the feature in Windows 7 Pro, where I could opt to be notified of updates & then see lists of priority & optional updates, & choose the ones I wanted to install (like all the security updates). Is there any way to configure updates in Windows 10 so I get the security updates but not all the other "features" (like Edge Chromium)?
Not really. You can pause updates on Windows 10 Home, and disable them on Pro and Enterprise versions.
new update cause my computer can’t connect wifi.. “ no internet, secured”
Have you tried to uninstall the update? From the "no internet, secured" message, it would appear that you are connected to the access point, but the access point is not connected to the internet. I would troubleshoot the access point.
just use USB Ethernet feature on your smartphone
Update your wifi drivers
If that doesn't work, go to device manager and uninstall the current wi fi driver, restart your pc and it will automatically reinstall a fresh ome
My friend had the same problem but fixed it by resetting some some in the bios so check it online it might help
This is such a great tutorial very clear!
Brilliant video. Thank you!
Thanks, glad you liked it!
Thank you sir it helps me a lot! but! can you also help me by telling the name of the screen recorder that you used to make this video? pls.....
You're welcome! This video was recorded in our production studios, using some pretty fancy gear. For general screen capture software (and free) I would look at OBS (Open Broadcaster Software)
Thanks! That was a very helpful video.
Excellent video, very concise. I'm turning them off permanently (Win 10 Pro) as after the last update (Aug 2022) my PC wouldn't re-boot and I tried everything to get get it back before re-installing from a partition backup. Even Windows 10 repair wouldn't work. Foolishly I allowed it to update again with exactly the same result so now I'm reinstalling the partition and this time turning them off permanently. I'm not even sure where my WIn10 licence number is and don't want to go through re-installing loads of software, some of which is licence protected over the internet and I may not be able to get the licence back again without paying exorbitant sums.
Thank you! Very, very useful.
Thanx a lot.. I found this very helpful
This is really helpful and knowledgeable video thank you for such type of content really appreciate your work
man that guy really puts the hard work in but theres just so much tech/pc/it channels all around youtube that its very hard for people to land in here, beast channel +sub
We really appreciate that! It easy to get lost in a sea of IT training.
Thanks for the tutorial.
Microsoft has made their Windows operating system increasingly more user-UNfriendly and complicated to use for a long time now.
Some things I can figure out by 'tinkering around,' others I can't.
I wish more youtube tutorials were like yours: You speak slowly and lucidly with great intonation Your directions are very very easy to understand. You don't spit or mumble like many other youtube video creators do...nor do you have an annoying or unintelligible voice like many youtube video creators.
You should do this more often...
Very helpful, thank you!
You're welcome!
Great material, thanks!
You're welcome!
Thanks for the tutorial, I'm completely new to all of this, I bought my first laptop about 7 months ago but all I use it for is to watch Netflix etc I don't even mess with the settings but what brought me here is yesterday I got a notification that windows 11 was now available an I started to upgrade to it but it told me some of my apps may not work properly or disappear all together an some features from windows 10 may not be available an I heard from others that regret upgrading theirs so I said I better not an after watching your tutorial I now have updates paused for 7 days, will my laptop eventually update itself without my consent? I wouldn't mind the updates if it wasn't for the possibility of messing what I already have up, things are just fine like it is so I'd hate for something to get messed up and then have to jump through a bunch of hoops just to get it back similar to how it is now lol
Also this is off topic but how do you delete a app on a laptop that's just taking up space? I told you I'm completely new to all of this lol
Thanks! Nice and clear~
You're welcome!! Glad you liked it!
very helpful! Thanks

Hi Mike, I followed your tutorial on how to block windows edge and it works like magic! I would however like to make use of edge now, how do i reverse the process?
thank you for the information. this is what i need.
You're welcome!
I'm back after a year. because my computer can't up date hahahaha. Windows update is sayang that "Your organization has turned off automatic update" and i can't remember how i turned it off hahaha. good thing that i saved this video hahaha🤣 hope i can fix this.
Thank You Very much.
You are welcome!
Heya Mike. My video card went out on my laptop. No cash to fix since the epidemic. Every time I get an update I have to rollback my PC because it wants to update graphics drivers. The last time my sound also stopped working and everything on my PC got super slow. This really helped a lot. At least I can disable it for 35 days each time. Thanks again.
Sorry to hear that. Glad this was able to help!!
DO this and you can actually turn updates off for good. HE is wrong when he said you can't on home.
Open Up RegEdit. Go HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, SOFTWARE, Policies, Microsoft, Windows.
You then need to creat a new KEY (folder). Right Click on the Windows folder. Select New, Key. Name is EXACTLY (WindowsUpdate) with out the ().
In the new WindowsUpdate folder create another folder the same way. Right click. Select New, Key. Call it EXACTLY (AU) without the ().
In the AU folder click (on the right hand window this time. Select New, DWORD (32-bit) Value. Name it EXACTLY (NoAutoUpdate) without the ().
Now double click on the new NoAutoUpdate and change the Value data to 1.
Restart your computer for it to take effect.
Note that you should still do some of the updates manually or at least run a good AV with firewall to keep your PC safe.
Thanks man appreciated
You're welcome!
You r osm man, really thank you😊
You're welcome!
Thank you friend.
You're welcome!
Thank you!
Nicely explained. Thanks.
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you for this vid
Thank you for the video!Windows makes very difficult to locate where to disable updates permanently. Why not make it easy for customers add it to the same section where they have the 7 day option? Instead you have to dig through layers and layers of folders and sub folders.😾
You're welcome! While there are some good use cases for disabling updates, in general, we want to update our systems. There are known vulnerabilities that can be patched against. I think this is why Microsoft doesn't make it as easy as flipping a switch.
The new Microsoft privacy issues want them to own your machine and data. You are in control, not Microsoft. We aren't renting software.
Best video I have seen and easy to follow
Thank you!
Thanks for this advices
My pleasure!

My windows 10 update lastnight.after that i got this blue screen .then theres a qr code on my screen that tell me what to do because of the error that cause by the updates so i try to to do the trouble shoot and uninstall the windows update on safe mood. My question is,do i really have to disable updates?im worried that. nextime i will experience the same problem again on the next update. Thank u in advance
Did removing the update fix the problem? There are ways to prevent the update that is causing the problem, from reinstalling, and still get the other updates to keep you safe.
Thank you so much.
You're welcome!
that was a great explanation, thanks.
You're welcome!
@@mikerodrick5354 Unfortunately, today it's asking me to restart to install some "required update", I went and double checked if anything changed under policy but no, win update is disabled.
