Thank you for all your knowledge, Reid! I used a lot of what i learned in your videos at my LGS and went 3-0-1 with rakdos transmogrify. The little details really matters! Amazing content!
When it comes to the mental game, I find it useful to never expend my mana until the absolute last possible second. If I pass the turn with two plains up, maybe I have a get lost in hand or maybe I’ll crack that carrot cake. My opponent shouldn’t have that information until the last second.
I think the section on intangibles is great for a new player, but we should remind them not to fall into the trap of trusting it forever. As you get better and want to start to attend competitive magic events you will meet players who can trick you with those intangibles. Just like in poker, you have tells, but the best players can learn their tells and hide them or even fake a tell to use against you.
I found myself thinking “duh” to pretty much everything in this video, I take a bit of pride in my skill as a magic player, but I feel immense gratitude to people like Reid Duke and organizations like ChannelFireball for getting me to where I am. Thank you!!!
