Nice to see freakout with you. I followed her and her sibs and mom on the AT. Even though she is a little sad because she misses them, I think she will find that this hike will cause her to grow in ways that she will be thankful for…she will feel a sense of accomplishment that is hers alone (with a little help from you) and it will build upon her independence and confidence, even though you can tell she has a quiet confidence already and is a skilled hiker. I always find it interesting to watch PCT thru hikes because there seem to be many more variables than on the AT to deal with. Seems like the weather is vastly different each year and its amazing the variety of landscape and terrain …and the logistics are more challenging; I believe. Longer spans between towns and resupply and water sources… rooting for you two and prayers for health and safety as you make your way to Canada.
I think you & Freakout make a good team! I know her mom/family will enjoy the short video journal as a way to travel along with y’all on this new adventure!

Good day! We skipped the creek crossing at the underpass. Kind of cheated. We walked all the way up to the water to assess, then decided to use the overpass and came back down to the water where the trail was. ;P That was a cool looking little historic town at Lake Morena. It was closed as we went through. I kind of wanted to check it out. :)

I followed some PCT thru hikers last summer...there are places where the trail is not marked well at all!!!
