Hi, frame suggestion upgrade ?? The mobula 8 is definitely too fragile

@emmanuelcheveau4891 I do have frame suggestions but it requires a complete over haul of everything. The new beta fpv pavo 20.

yo i am going to be buying my first drone i was thinking about the baby ape pro v2 or mobula 8
what would be a better choice u think?

I can't speak for baby ape. I've always wanted to fly one but I built one slightly bigger. If you're worried about crashing alot and hurting the props I would honestly say the mobula8.
But this has several factors for your decision.
      1. Tiny whoop or freestyle frame
      2. Indoor flying or outdoor flying.
      3. H.D or analog.
The mobula8 is now h.d or analog depending on the models
The baby ape is analog but it looks like you can mount an h.d vtx to it. But then there's a weight issue. Also looks like you would have to upgrade the the aio flight controller for that.
Honestly If it is your first drone I would say mobula8 or a betaflight whoop. Both are 1 and 2s compatible. And fun little backyard rippers.
The 1103 motors on the mobula8 are pretty awesome for a newbie.
The decision is yours truly. I believe the baby ape is a good drone spec wise. (Once again never flown one)
How ever the mobula8 is an awesome versatile drone. Easy to work on. (No soldering required for most parts) with abundance of spare parts available
How ever with that said. The baby ape has one thing that the mobula8 doesn't.
The baby ape is 3s compatible. The mobula8 will only do 1 and 2s lipos (up to 450 mah)
Honestly as I'm typing this out I'm talking my self into the baby ape.
If you do get the baby ape get space props. Alot of them. Crashing is going to happen props will get destroyed. And it's honestly the cheapest item on a drone

@@WhiteTrashFPV ok also the thing is i am not going to fly indoor only outdoors and i dont have a backyard so i am mostly going to fly in parks and places where there are no people i really like the looks of the baby ape i heard a lot of positive about it.
also i heard that the mobula 8 frame breaks really easy in comparison to the baby ape pro v2 that is made of carbon fiber.
taking all of that in mind i actually think the baby ape would be a better choice dont u think too?
i also think that its the baby ape is better because of 2s and 3s lipos i dont think i would fly the mobula 8 in 1s outside so i think its good to start with 2s and then later go to 3s or should i immediatly start with 3S?

I agree the baby ape would be a better drone for you.
When I built my folder 3.5 inch it came with 2 straps. One kind of short and one kind of long. (I'm assuming the baby ape is the same way) the short one is to big for 2s.
Even though it says it can do 2s I would recommend 3s
I like the freestyle frames better than the whoop frames too. Not only are they sturdy but I never been a fan of landing on the battery. I much rather have it on top of the drone.
Since you're going to be flying outside. I do think the baby ape os good for you

Ive crashed my Mobula8 and have not broken anything except camera crack line . You must be crashing hard or something

    • @WhiteTrashFPV
      @WhiteTrashFPV  Рік тому

Maybe. It was on my mind. But never really thought to hard about it. Just went okay. Maybe I should get a carbon fiber frame

seems like the mob 8 is not very durable
i crashed so many times on my mob6 and the frame didnt break
i switchted to the meteor 65 frame recently and it too likes to not break it seems
i crashed a bunch of times today trying to hit a small gap and still no real dmg on the frame sofar :P

    • @WhiteTrashFPV
      @WhiteTrashFPV  Рік тому

on both the mob and the meteor65 i have broke both frames... i think plastic isnt quite strong enough imo. how ever with the 65 it seemed to be more malleable. ive cracked the 65 frame but it only happened at a full send. the mobs frame just seemed weaked. course it did tumble from 20 feet once( i accidently disarmed switching to acro lol) but its final straw was flipping in grass.. it had me thinking of switching to a toothpick frame. even for my 65. im new enough and dont want to keep buying frames all the time.... props are one thing but frames is a differnt story

@@WhiteTrashFPV the meteor 65 frame seems to be pretty bendy
i was doing some powerloops into the ground and it survived even that
      and its pretty cheap
i curious to see how the toothpick is doing for you but for me i like the prop guards for flying indoors
imo more weight means more dmg in a crash cause of the extra momentum
i guess thats the problem the mob8 has
you are faster and heavier but the frame is just as durable as the meteor 65
so even if you crash at the same speed the mob 8 will take more dmg cause of the extra weight from the bigger motors and 2s lipo

@@bluefpv3263 its not only more wieght, the frame it self is more rigid. dont qoute me on this, but i believe the 85's frames (happymodel, and betafpv) are 1mm thicker. theyre much more rigid then the 65 maybe even the 75 so they snap more then they will bend as well so in combination of higher speeds, bigger motors, and bigger battery it doesnt stand up as well in crashes. i think they shouldnt make 85's as a whoop nessesarly. but more as a thooth pick or maybe re-enforce the motor brackets mores...
on the toothpick side. im getting more worried about it as i go, i havent flown it yet... the motors will be in about 4 days from now... i realized maybe just maybe i could attach my 1103 from my betafpv 85 on it and the mounting worked.... how ever the motor wires are to short to reach the aio so im just waiting for the new motors to come in...
i ran into another problem with it this morning, the plug in for the 1103 motors on the board are actually touching the frame and i came to the conclusion that my desoldering skill is worse then my piloiting skills at the moment and i couldnt deatach them. i thought about flipping the board over to see if that resolves the issue where i sudden ran into two issues. the atx attenena wouldnt reach the top of the canopy, and the usb port would in the canopy causing me to take it apart every time i needed to get into betaflight so i maybe purchasing another aio for it soon, its current state im worried about jello from the motor pins while still being able to plug in the usb port.

@@WhiteTrashFPV hm if you plan on getting another fc anyway you can try desoddering the plugs there are tutorials on how to do that
desoddering isnt hard you just warm it up and pull the plug out
i wouldnt worry about the remaining sodder tbh its basically alrdy tinned pads ^^

@@bluefpv3263 yeah that was the whole plan this morning i couldnt get it done i might just clip the leads off the plug and try again see if that helps, i removed some solder but not enough
