@@Ken77114 Aren't we lucky to have seen him live.I saw him in the "Frolics Ballroom" in 1957 and something happened that I haven't seen on UA-cam. Jerry got on top of the piano leaned down with his long hair over his face and played piano. Ken,I'm now 85 and served with Elvis in Fort Hood+Germany.
Exactly fifty years ago today on March 22nd 1970 "Once More With Feeling"* by Jerry Lee Lewis peaked at #2 {for 2 weeks} on Billboard's Hot Country Singles chart, for the two weeks it was at #2, the #1 record for both those weeks was "Fightin' Side of Me" by Merle Haggard... Between 1957 and 1989 the Ferriday, Louisiana native had sixty three records on the Hot Country Singles chart, twenty eight made the Top 10 with six reaching #1... Four of his sixty three charted records were duets, two with his sister, Linda Gail Lewis, and one each with Ronnie McDowell and Dorothee... Jerry Lee Lewis will celebrate his 85th birthday in six months on September 29th, 2020... * "Once More with Feeling" was Jerry Lee's fifth of five of his records to peak at #2 on the Hot Country Singles chart... And from the 'For What It's Worth' department, the remainder of the Hot Country Singles' Top 10 on March 22nd, 1970: At #3. "Tennessee Birdwalk" by Jack Blanchard & Misty Morgan #4. "My Woman, My Woman, My Wife" by Marty Robbins #5. "Is Anybody Goin' To San Antone?" by Charley Pride #6. "Occasional Wife" by Faron Young #7. "I'll See Him Through" by Tammy Wynette #8. "Country Girl" by Jeannie C. Riley #9. "If I Were A Carpenter" by Johnny Cash & June Carter #10. "All I Have To Do Is Dream" by Bobbie Gentry & Glen Campbell
THE most electrifying 🎹 performance by ANYONE under 3 mins: so cool😎, confident😤 & explosive🧨! Killer here OWNS Kristofferson’s piece🔥, & J Cash’s intro satisfies as gracious & righteously awestruck, 🚀 sending JLL into the untouchable stratosphere!👏 🎉
Thanks for posting. This stellar performance should have made the JC Show expanded dvd set released a few years ago. Their must be a better ‘source’ though?
Killer in his prime. Pity, he never identified himself with his big hits of that time - always called it "beer drinking music" and rarely sung them live...
JLL furnishes here what Nick Tosches would call a "magisterial" (perhaps even a "feral") performance.......At 1:38, watch "ole Jerry's eyes" - - then brace yourself for a feroociously intense outburst of energy starting suddenly at the 1:58 mark. WA-HOO!!
Dont know if feral is the word I'd use, but he definitely has something.... which he might say God's gift running through him. I always like when he keeps a different beat while banging on the keys ... like st the 2:00 mark and 2:09 mark. And of course how he likes slamming the key cover to let you know hes comibg at you.
Listen to him wail, and watch him dominate the keyboard. The man's a genius..no one else comes close.
Jerry Lee was on top of his game here. Soul and feeling in this song. RIP Killer...
another great performence by Jerry Lee that i've seen for the first time. Saw Jerry Lee in Allentown,Pa in 1957
Wow! Saw him in Eugene, Or., 1959! Talked to him from front seat! Now I’m 82 and The Killer is Home! 😎🌷👑🙏

He really means it there...... fuck man. Most sarcastic song in the world and he fucking means it
Clean the garbage out of your mouth before talking about the killer.
Not like the Killer didn't use foul language from time to time.

Top performance.

There's the birthday man. He doesn't know rest.
That’s our Kris Kristofferson’s genius in those lyrics n music. KK does a fab version of the vocals too.
No one makes a song his own like "the killer" does.
Only one more.thats waylon Jennings. Once he sang a song he owned it .waylon and Jerry Lee.
The killer introduced by the man in black

It's one more time with feeling, for sure.
Yeah he really goes into overdrive!

The best break up sex song ever written and recorded.
