Huge update! As of June 25th (2 days after this review) Sigma has announce the 2.0 firmware update which includes: - ProRes RAW over HDMI - Blackmagic RAW over HDMI (WHAAAAT!) - DCI 4K over HDMI - More frame rate options in HD and 4K - And more. What is the difference between file sizes between GH5 10bit 422 400mps vs BRaw vs ProRes 422? Thinking the Sigma FP is looking more tasty after this update

Stop whining about not having compressed RAW. Enough is enough. To add compressed RAW, the camera's processor needs to do a lot more conversion, and that drives up the HW spec, size, weight, and cost. The spec creep will kill the fp. All for what? So you save some money on external storage? A camera like this can easily last you 10 years, and right now, you can buy a 2TB external SSD for roughly $200. And it'll be even cheaper in the foreseeable future. So stop whining already. It's a part of the package, the nature of the beast.
RAW can never be 4:2:2 if it's stored in a mosaic format like CinemaDNG, because no chromatic sub sampling has occurred to the image. It remains 4:4:4 until after the debayer. People often confuse the bayer sensel resolutions with chromatic sub sampling, and they simply are not the same. With a mosaic RAW at the end of the demosaicing process one will have a 4:4:4 color image and at that point those colors can get chromatically average to a lower chromatic resolution like 4:2:2 or 4:2:0.

Chromatic sub sampling (4:2:2) removes 1/2 of the chromatic colors from an image, but can only be done with chromatic color when luminance has been separated from the color information. Thus because this stores the RAW Bayered information, any initial image from it will always be 4:4:4 and can not be 4:2:2.

Thanks - fair review - We have owned so many cameras from Sony to RED to our main love - Canons - but this has made me excited once again to shoot ( NOTE we only do video and only do raw ) I just wanted something the size of my phone that had results to match our C200. This is it.
Really good workflow a lot of fp owners are now using for cDNG clips we want to keep is converting direct from the SSD using software called SlimRaw, with lossless compression it more than halves the file size but retains full quality of the raw.
The FP can also be used as a USB Video Class (UVC) device; meaning it is recognized as a webcam when connected to a computer without the need for special software. I have one arriving tomorrow. I figure it’s nice for trips as I can stay connected without using the crappy built in MBP camera.
Yeah man, I think it’s just a case of the wrong market. Nobody is asking for a point and shoot sized cinema camera. I think if Sigma would have made this camera more of a hybrid size like the BMPCC, or even focused on bringing a really affordable true cinema style camera to market, (think Kinefinity or Z cam) I think they would have faired much better. The most practical application for a small camera like this is mounting it on a drone. But the market that this camera is geared for isn’t going to be buying a drone without an onboard camera so that’s kind of a DOA idea as well
I think there's a ton of negativity surrounding this camera rn. I mean I get some of it but I'm still so interested in this camera. Great video Caleb! :D
Coincidentally they fixed the Sigma fp with the upcoming Firmware 2.0. They will support Dual Native ISO, external Recording in ProRes RAW or BRAW 😍, Timecode Support for the Audiofile in Cinema DNG etc. They transformed that camera from an obscurity to a really interesting option for indie filmmakers.
Cool. I had heard about the Sigma FP, both pros and cons, but not in such rich real-life detail. sounds pretty amazing and I love the dynamic range - and what you did with it. Looks absolutely cinematic. That price tag. I had no idea. I can totally see myself mount one of those along with an SSD on the side of a car and that sort of thing... external recording over USB-C is one of these game changers! If I'm not mistaken white balance becomes irrelevant when shooting RAW as it's really just a bit of metadata stored alongside the well... raw sensor output. So you can align it as part of your RAW processing. Might be a bit of reconciliation regarding the cumbersome menus. ;)
Yes, please, BRAW would be so great on this Camera. I bought it in November kinda speculating, that Log and something like BRAW would come per Firmware. Really risky to be honest, but i love the Idea to have a beast of a camera hat i can easilly carry around with me
Crazy Comment of the Day • Sigma fp is the best full frame Webcam for the $$$ • that was the one feature I could not believe the Sigma fp has which is direct USB-C to PC as a webcam • this was something that happen before Canon & Panasonic came out with "Web Utility Apps" & a $2000 webcam who doesn't want that?!?
I really enjoy the image I'm able to get out of mine, but I did indeed need to start learning Resolve to be able to make any headway with it. I did a dual fp camera interview recording... recorded for 27 minutes, ended up with a terabyte of cDNGs and it took 2 days for After Effects to process them into a ProRes file for me to edit in Premiere. So DEFINITELY Resolve is more than a recommendation. It's a must. 😅 Totally agree with you, a LOG profile with a LUT for monitoring would be ideal, and a compressed RAW format that doesn't result in thousands of image files would also be lovely!
This is the most underrated camera on the market, if they revise it in the the future to USB 3.2 gen 2 it would seriously be the ultimate cine pocket cam. This thing could even be better than using a go-pro if someone makes a waterproof cage.
The issue here is not the camera. The issue is the user. This is an all new system, new UI. Not the canon, nikon, lumix, sony UI standards we're used to and like any learning curve the process of learning can frustrate some understandably. And sigma is just getting started... I upgraded to the FP L with reservations of course but I was ready to deal with the learning curve. This camera is a gem. The dynamic range is insane. 9k DNG photos. 4k 12 bit DNG uncompressed data. But as artists we need what suits the project. So use what suits your needs. It could be any camera in the world.
I think the latest firmware is like 3.2 or something, and of course you can load it up with Blackmagic software. I think it is time for a new review, yes?
Yeah that's what I thought... as an fp owner and supporter I was a bit worried by the title but his points were all very fair and great that he actually showed how to get the best from the cDNG in Resolve... I've seen a lot of people who don't realize that step of using BMD in the raw settings to maximize the dynamic range.
You might want to explore SlimRAW for an alternative workflow. SlimRAW will take an uncompressed DNG sequence and allow one to convert into a Compressed sequence with up to 12:1 compression. The reason no one can do this in camera is because of RED's Redcode patent which doesn't allow compression of ANY mosaic based RAW format in camera with out RED being involved.
@@TylerMcCool The patent will expire in, I believe, 2028; however, that is still a long way off, and honestly I think the patent should never have been issued in the first place, because all they did was extend what had already been happening with stills cameras and applied a frame rate minimum to it. This is why most still cameras can't acquire compressed raw frame sequences beyond 1 or 2 seconds at speeds above around 24fps. It's not that they couldn't, but they can't due to this patent, even though this was obviously going to happen with all cameras, and thus predictable which, again, should have made the patent invalid.
@@billyoung9538 agreed about the validity of the patent.. Even more disappointing was the Patent Office's denial to even bring it to court from Apple's challenge to the validity of the patent (this was about 2 years ago I think).
Bought one within the hour of watching this... then an hour later the fp L was announced! Lol. All good though because the pricing was already reduced and I wouldn’t want the L anyway. Don’t need autofocus, 61 MP and total loss of lowlight capability. For Cine fp original all the way.
I kept on seeing your video thumbnail over and over again.... and had to have a look!!... I was interested in the BMPCC4K but now this is the one for me...much appreciated Thanks...Laurie
You need to post an update 2.0 video, Caleb. Test if the "no color profile" is usable for monitoring for shooting RAW. And if this is a "usable" alternative to LOG.
Just discovered your channel and every video here is AWESOMEly helpful! Wish I'd found you before I bought my Sigma fp. But since I've got it now, I'm wondering how to find and purchase your set-up guide for it? I couldn't find it on your website...
There is a *quasi* LOG with the new firmware, it's "Color Mode = OFF". Documentation is unclear, but it's legit. Thanks for the review! Biggest problem with MOV using this camera is there was previously no way to disable sharpening altogether, so the lack of AA filter caused nasty artifacts. Color Off fixed this, but it would be great to have some of the (lovely) color modes, just without the sharpening.
Bauxite does that mean he is psycho now ... from trying to keep up to date with everything? Just like the changes in a lot of workplaces for most of us.. I am beginning to think that being a complete novice with any cams , and a senior, my new Sony as6400 will get to me pro level in next to no time.... with no onset of any psychosis. wheeee
You could also use SlimRAW as a way to store CinemaDNG in multiple RAW compressions (like 3:1... etc) when you do DIT instead of storing uncompressed CinemaDNG RAW files which are ridiculously huge.
Figuring out the minutiae involved with picture profile settings will be the make or break for using this camera, especially professionally. There is limited online guidance (mostly on message boards) available, so it will be a matter of trial and error before finding the right one.
This camera is for a low budget indie filmmaker that fully intends to shoot RAW 12 bit. $1800 for a full frame 12bit cam is an incredible buy for digital cinema creators. I don’t think any other 12 bit full frame cams exist at this price point.
@@flamixin It looks compressed because it was graded. Caleb should have graded it to looks as close as possible to the FP's 8-bit profile. Regardless of how it looks, the S1 will give you a lot more space to work...math doesn't lie, there's a huge difference between 4:2:0 8-bit and 4:2:2 10-bit :)
Hey Caleb On the menu settings, I feel that the menu system is the easiest I've ever used it's just 4 pages but..... all you have to do is hit the secrete button to get you at the top menu again instead of scrolling thru ! Great video regards, Rick
This seems very reminiscent of the release of the Blackmagic Pocket Cinema camera, and how it just felt like a RAW sensor in a tiny, strpped body but with limitless potential. Still love my pocket even though I never use it and this has all the same crazy appeal!
The image quality out of fp is just so great! Paired it with zeiss , voigtlander or leica lenses. And its really amazing. I shoot fp mainly with manual lenses, and quality and rendering i get i never want to go back to modern autofocus lenses like sigma , pana. Rendering is so different!
Totally agree. I do the same. Let’s not forget the Ext. TC in which allows you to shoot high quality off board audio. The metabones cine adapter C/Y to L is my go to: it holds the lenses well without movement on focusing. The POWRIG D-Tap battery replacement allows me to shoot for hours with mini V-Mounts. Love it.
Awesome review! This camera needs BRAW and a Blackmagic menu and with that, it would be the perfect Gimbal Camera, literally the perfect Gimbal Camera!!!
Off-topic, but can someone explain what is happening with the background light where there's a sort of striped pattern cast on the wall (example, 9:01)? I get this in my stuff and I don't know what causes it, what it's called, or how to fix it. Would love help!
Very nice review! I wish to get one... some day. Amazing raw quality 🔥 And really only Spencer and you done reviews about this little beast of a full frame.
No one talks about it but this camera is perfect podcasting - streaming camera cause it allows you stream on Facebok Live, UA-camLive, Zoom and other sites by just plugging in a USBC cable. This is a great option considering right now it is almost impossible to get a capture card
The standard profile from the Sigma FP seemed really sharp to me compared to the Panasonic S1. I didn't really think their standard look looked that bad.
Cinema DNG Lossless RAW for DCI4K/30p is stated as 270MB/sec , from Blackmagic Design. Unless there is a different compression in Sigma's cDNG Lossless RAW , then Sigma should have like 42MB/sec less bitrate. Thank you for your informative video.
Its funny because if you put in the same situation the red and arri are a shit too cause the workflow, i think this camea seems to be great, because you have to compeare with real cinema cameras not with sony alpha ones. If you are filmming weddings or even documentaries this camera is nos for you but neither do a red or arri 🤷🏻♂️
Sigma did a firmware update to V2.0 on June 27 which now allows it to shoot Prorez with the Atmos recorder. I don't fully get what that is, but now it can do Prorez
The small size probably limits the hardware, which means they can't do any compression on camera, so thats why H264 are limited and there is no compressed RAW. Its basically just dumping the data from the sensor to the storage, which doesn't need that much processing power.
As always very unbiased honest review. I almost picked up one when I saw an incredible offer in Dubai ( selling new FP for usd 1300) but didn’t cuz of the bad reviews. Btw, I’m still waiting for ur fs700r experience, I understand it’s not a popular request but still hoping 😁 thanks mate
1:57 Want another reference? my smartphone can record 4k RAW 10Bit at 200MB/s. My smartphone could also record in 8K RAW, but it needs a mod on the system and it needs root and I also don't know what to do to make it work, I know there's a way because someone has already done it, it worked and published a screenshot
I'm aiming for Zcam E2 and sometime I hesitate with FP. Now, my path is clear. Bye FP, see you in the next upgraded models :S Thank you for review this camera out.
Thank you Sigma for offering this camera just as it is. There are so many unnecessary reservations in this video, it's striking. This camera is so special and what makes it so is the uncompressed dng's. That is the very element giving it so much latitude and color information. Who cares about the file size? Storage is super cheap these days and in return you are getting uncompressed raw that in the words of this professional cinematographer who tested it against five figure, professional cinema cameras (ua-cam.com/video/D-nXKap0A78/v-deo.html), has more color information than the Sony Venice at a radical fraction of the price. He gives his evidence in the interview posted. The very reason that color is available to people like us is the large file sizes of the dng's, which itself is easily offset by cheap storage (1 TB for $70), thereby making it not only a non-issue, but a gift that was tested to offer better color than a $60,000 camera. Why gripe when there's no reason to? It doesn't make sense. If you want small files, go Sony or Canon. It's like saying I love owning my Lamborghini, but why does it guzzle so much gas? Because that's exactly what makes it so special and the very fact you can afford it proves the price of gas null and void, so the argument then becomes a confusing one to make. I've owned most Blackmagic cameras including the Pocket 4k when it offered offered dng's. I've shot tons of braw, used Canon cameras and currently own a Sony A1. None come near to the level of quality offered by true raw dng's, giving me more than enough incentive to switch over. Why don't more manufacturers offer this? Red won't let them develop compressed raw, though that may change in the future with the recent Nikon decision. Since storage is cheap and the quality is so high, where is the detraction? Thank you again Sigma for offering this camera just as it is. Develop the next with no other options but raw video and stills and corner the market, thereby developing a customer base with people like myself who are more than willing to invest in high quality raw imagery.
Maybe worth to redo the whole thing after he firmware update. For me this seems to be one of the few compact full frame cameras. Sadly there isn't any small L mount lens. I am looking for a stills camera that fits my pocket but I doubt this will be is. They should do a 11MP version for video only. I already own an OG BMPCC and this seems to be he 2nd gen which the 4K and 6K wasn't.
Seems like a totally usable camera TBH. Having lots of expensive storage handy is common for any professional. The next model of it will be absolutley killer if they have a flip out screen, 4k 60fps, XLR ins, CFAST and better menu nav.
Can you explain why you think the compressed FP's footage is poo?(starting at 7:49) I think its like an order of magnitude better than the Panasonic S1 which is good but looks like poo next to the Sigma FP.... or did you mix up the labels? I see you wear glasses, is it possible for you to be also colorblind?
9:13....what’s weird is you keep showing this clip to illustrate bad 4.2.0 8-bit footage on the FP, but oddly I find that clip to look better than the S1 counterpart. It seems a tad more detailed and your skin looks much better than your grades S1 skin to me. Am I crazy?
Would be nice is he actually did a long term review. I’ve been watching UA-cam videos shot with this camera and I have to say they are quite beautiful. I think I might get one. Also I heard they were coming out with log in the next update.
but ... but... but ... but what is the dynamic range? but what was the compression ratio on braw when you compared the codecs? and how big are the dng raw 10bit files compared to a probably compressed prores raw and braw? but when you implement a log profile you have to have 10 bit or more to really use it properly and you showed us beforehand that it can´t do that... but you showed us a studio shot to demonstrate the limitation of the 8 bit standard profile (dynamic range test)? the thing is I would much rather have big cinema dng files than losing the ability to change my raw settings... cinema dng is not as bad as some people say in my opinion. and by the way... a lut is always combined with losing data so it all comes down to the 10 bit compressed codec and it remains the question if the tiny hardware has the compute power to compress these files without overheating.

Thanks - fair review - We have owned so many cameras from Sony to RED to our main love - Canons - but this has made me excited once again to shoot ( NOTE we only do video and only do raw ) I just wanted something the size of my phone that had results to match our C200. This is it.
Despite the cons, I am *absolutely* picking this camera up. Thank you for the lovely, honest review!!:)
Yeah, def the best option for a webcam.
Interesting as hell I was wondering why nobody else is really making videos about this camera
Yeah, this camera is so close to great but so far!
Caleb, thanks for all the great content on gear over the years man. You definitely have helped me out with my freelance career and my channel.
But the market that this camera is geared for isn’t going to be buying a drone without an onboard camera so that’s kind of a DOA idea as well
All in all, it’s just a weird implementation of a cinema camera lol
I think there's a ton of negativity surrounding this camera rn. I mean I get some of it but I'm still so interested in this camera. Great video Caleb! :D
Coincidentally they fixed the Sigma fp with the upcoming Firmware 2.0. They will support Dual Native ISO, external Recording in ProRes RAW or BRAW 😍, Timecode Support for the Audiofile in Cinema DNG etc. They transformed that camera from an obscurity to a really interesting option for indie filmmakers.
12 Bit CinemaDNG Full RAW for $1500?!? That is a unicorn right there
Yup! To the point they raised the retail price to $1900. Still a great deal.
Might be a bit of reconciliation regarding the cumbersome menus. ;)
8:00 I’m not videographer but in this compare the Sigma FP image on left looks better.
In this paticular situation, yes. but move into a more demanding scenario, it will be worse..
The magic of the 4K 1:1, one of the reasons I bought the FP instead of the S1 or any Sony full frame camera
Yes, please, BRAW would be so great on this Camera. I bought it in November kinda speculating, that Log and something like BRAW would come per Firmware. Really risky to be honest, but i love the Idea to have a beast of a camera hat i can easilly carry around with me
Sigma teamed up with Atomos already for ProRes Raw.
SIGMA just added BlackMagic RAW with the Video Assist 12G connected...! ua-cam.com/video/onsq3_ZKRX4/v-deo.html (likewise Atomos +prores)
I got one and I gotta say I love it!
Totally agree with you, a LOG profile with a LUT for monitoring would be ideal, and a compressed RAW format that doesn't result in thousands of image files would also be lovely!
Finally a review that's logical, informative and good. Thank you. Enjoy your channel.
You are the best camera/video tutorial channel that has ever existed,
This is the most underrated camera on the market, if they revise it in the
the future to USB 3.2 gen 2 it would seriously be the ultimate cine pocket cam. This thing could even be better than using a go-pro if someone makes a waterproof cage.
Finally someone dishing out the competition!!
I might switch to sigma because they are such a dedicated company.
I bought this yesterday, worth every penny. At one point I felt guilty for buying this at a steal price. Sigma Fp is amazing!
Huh. First time seeing this camera. Lots of potential with the fixes you mention.
btw, thanks for showing that extra aspect to editing it with DaVinci Resolve! This is the best through vid on this camera I've seen on here in months.
The reason no one can do this in camera is because of RED's Redcode patent which doesn't allow compression of ANY mosaic based RAW format in camera with out RED being involved.
it makes me hope red goes out of business.. so we can all have compressed raw.. or maybe someone acquire them in the future.. a man can dream
Even more disappointing was the Patent Office's denial to even bring it to court from Apple's challenge to the validity of the patent (this was about 2 years ago I think).
those mirrorless with cumbersome menus are the right choice for stationary tripod cameras (set and forget), and for aerial filming with drones
About the menu, Sigma uses a Quick Select (QS) button for most quick to change settings. You really never have to go into the menu. 😂
Bought one within the hour of watching this...
then an hour later the fp L was announced!
Lol. All good though because the pricing was already reduced and I wouldn’t want the L anyway. Don’t need autofocus, 61 MP and total loss of lowlight capability. For Cine fp original all the way.
Save yourself a $1000! (CDN)
Title: "this camera is terrible"
10:16: "this camera is amazing"
Bauxite does that mean he is psycho now ... from trying to keep up to date with everything? Just like the changes in a lot of workplaces for most of us.. I am beginning to think that being a complete novice with any cams , and a senior, my new Sony as6400 will get to me pro level in next to no time.... with no onset of any psychosis. wheeee
clickbait
Title : this camera is terrible, but I love it
You could also use SlimRAW as a way to store CinemaDNG in multiple RAW compressions (like 3:1... etc) when you do DIT instead of storing uncompressed CinemaDNG RAW files which are ridiculously huge.
Figuring out the minutiae involved with picture profile settings will be the make or break for using this camera, especially professionally. There is limited online guidance (mostly on message boards) available, so it will be a matter of trial and error before finding the right one.
7:49 Honestly, the FP image looks more visually pleasing
9:07 Same thing here
I was about to say the same thing. I get what he says about baked in at a lower bit depth. However, It looks so much better than the S1.
It is way oversharpened and magnifies skin defects. It doesn't look like as good a starting point.
Hey Caleb, will you make a video course on the sigma fp after you’ve tested the new firmware?
You break things down so well man, Awesome video!
Thanks Joshua!
Small Tipp about the menu. With the top wheel you can switch directly to the next tab without fiddle around on the small wheel
This camera is for a low budget indie filmmaker that fully intends to shoot RAW 12 bit. $1800 for a full frame 12bit cam is an incredible buy for digital cinema creators. I don’t think any other 12 bit full frame cams exist at this price point.
But the rolling shutter is abominable? How do you get around that?
9:08 is it me or the FP shows better iq than the S1 in this comparison. Skin color looks more appealing and there is much more detail.
I was thinking the same thing. Says it looks like poo, but I think it looks better 🤷🏻♂️
Yeah. Agreed.s1 looks “compressed”.
it's a day and night difference, especially at 200%
@@flamixin It looks compressed because it was graded. Caleb should have graded it to looks as close as possible to the FP's 8-bit profile. Regardless of how it looks, the S1 will give you a lot more space to work...math doesn't lie, there's a huge difference between 4:2:0 8-bit and 4:2:2 10-bit :)
Astral'o Pithecus Yeah this is a good case that manual grading beaten by factory settings.
I love that you added chapters!
Hey Caleb
On the menu settings,
I feel that the menu system is the easiest I've ever used
it's just 4 pages but.....
all you have to do is hit the secrete button to get you at the top menu again instead of scrolling thru !
Great video
regards, Rick
Sounds like either a Mark II or a firmware update could make this little guy P4K/6K contender. Definitely prefer the body style.
@7:58 As far as I can see the Sigma looks way better here, doesn't it?
I agree!
It is! I've been using it for a couple of years
Excited to see what updates come in the future, and future FP models as you mentioned. A lot of potential for this little guy!
9:09 for real? The quality on the sigma is stunning, wow
I low-key thought my eyes were bad. I had this blown up on my tv and was so confused. Thought that quality looked fucking incredible but *shrug*
Love it.
@@smallbrownfox594we need to see your camera setup :)
At approx 5:40 - exporting Prores file is only available with Resolve on the Mac, or it can be done manually using ffmpeg.
Awesome review! This camera needs BRAW and a Blackmagic menu and with that, it would be the perfect Gimbal Camera, literally the perfect Gimbal Camera!!!
Audacious Scoundrel yes
Off-topic, but can someone explain what is happening with the background light where there's a sort of striped pattern cast on the wall (example, 9:01)? I get this in my stuff and I don't know what causes it, what it's called, or how to fix it. Would love help!
Great review! I know someone has mentioned it below - but it was great to see you review it with the new firmware 2.0
I would love to see what you think of firmware 4.0 especially the new false colour capabilities.
Rolling Shutter? Dynamic Range Stops?
They just posted this video with new f/w info, and here's a chart with the dynamic range + dual iso ua-cam.com/video/onsq3_ZKRX4/v-deo.html
haha your timing is always impeccable. right bfeore a big firwmare update :) like the bmpcc!
The raw image looks better than the graded version.
Can definitely see this being used for action/car shots in TV and film.
standart profile is great:) 08:01
Very nice review! I wish to get one... some day. Amazing raw quality 🔥 And really only Spencer and you done reviews about this little beast of a full frame.
The FP is a fantastic camera! I’ve owned the A7iv and S5 but I prefer the FP to both. It’s great for photos and cinema.
Been waiting for this video thanks bro love the in-depth look.
can you make a comparison between them and the Blackmagic 6k?
🔥 Loving the setup Caleb!
Thanks Nate!!! Appreciate it brotha!
My smartphone could also record in 8K RAW, but it needs a mod on the system and it needs root and I also don't know what to do to make it work, I know there's a way because someone has already done it, it worked and published a screenshot
will you review this again with the latest firmware?
I'm aiming for Zcam E2 and sometime I hesitate with FP. Now, my path is clear. Bye FP, see you in the next upgraded models :S
Thank you for review this camera out.
Firmware 2.0 dropped today covering most of the cons listed in this video. How's that for timing? I'm keen to have a play with this camera now.
4:55: - Highlight Recovery setting would be "Highlight Dignity" if Camera Conspiracies was on the Resolve team lol :)
OG BMPCC has more filmic image but Sigma is more versatile, full frame and takes amazing stills
Seems like a totally usable camera TBH. Having lots of expensive storage handy is common for any professional. The next model of it will be absolutley killer if they have a flip out screen, 4k 60fps, XLR ins, CFAST and better menu nav.
Yeah that would be awesome - the true "Pocket 4K"
“I can’t recommend it for most people including myself.” 🤣🤣
Bro he didn’t even pause or anything. Just threw that out there 😂
The latest update makes it even more usable
😂😂😂
Also I heard they were coming out with log in the next update.
wow in dinamic range it's way better than the S1. Amazing. 9:12.
That seems very interesting as an entry level cinema camera. Will have to keep an eye on this to see if they do any of the updates you mentioned
And they just introduced ProRes!
Please don't forget the continuation of this video with the new firmware update :D, and thanks for real your videos have helped me a lot
but ... but... but ...
but what is the dynamic range?
but what was the compression ratio on braw when you compared the codecs? and how big are the dng raw 10bit files compared to a probably compressed prores raw and braw?
but when you implement a log profile you have to have 10 bit or more to really use it properly and you showed us beforehand that it can´t do that...
but you showed us a studio shot to demonstrate the limitation of the 8 bit standard profile (dynamic range test)?
the thing is I would much rather have big cinema dng files than losing the ability to change my raw settings... cinema dng is not as bad as some people say in my opinion.
and by the way... a lut is always combined with losing data so it all comes down to the 10 bit compressed codec and it remains the question if the tiny hardware has the compute power to compress these files without overheating.
Very interested to see where they take this in the future...
have you revisited this camera yet ?
