- The destruction of Jerusalem at the hands of the Romans in 70 a.d. brought to definitive conclusion the Old Covenant era, and freed the fledgling Christian church from its tether to the city what had become, in the words of the Apocalypse, the figurative 'Sodom' and 'Gomorrah,' where also their Lord was crucified.
I am so extremely happy, after finishing this series, I ordered the book related to it. It arrived this week and I cannot wait to read it. Thank you so very much for all your hard work that has gone into it. I am so grateful for tjis gift you give to your fellow man, it would have been a history lost to most.

@@GoreBruceMr. Gore, I hate to say this but that was a terrible documentary, or talk show, or whatever you want to call it. It definitely was not a study of the scriptures on eschatology. It was merely a video giving opinions of different men, with a few scriptures thrown in.

When were the new testament gospels written? I had always assumed they were written after the siege of Jerusalem. Any opinions?
AmidalaEmma You will find a very respectable division of scholarly opinion on the question. Good arguments are made for both early dates (pre-fall of Jerusalem) and later dates. Regardless of the dates assigned to the Gospels, there seems to be strong evidence and general consensus that Jesus predicted the fall of the city in the Olivet Discourse during Passion Week.

His reference to 5 months in Revelation...9:5 comparison to the siege of Jerusalem has no correlation and is extremely bogus.

The preterest view here is dependent upon an errant view of dating the Book of Revelation:
"Traditionally, the book of Revelation has been dated near the end of the first century, around A.D. 96. Some writers, however, have advanced the preterist (from a Latin word meaning “that which is past”) view, contending that the Apocalypse was penned around A.D. 68 or 69, and thus the thrust of the book is supposed to relate to the impending destruction of Jerusalem (A.D. 70).
A few prominent names have been associated with this position (e.g., Stuart, Schaff, Lightfoot, Foy E. Wallace Jr.), and for a brief time it was popular with certain scholars. James Orr has observed, however, that recent criticism has reverted to the traditional date of near A.D. 96 (1939, 2584). In fact, the evidence for the later date is extremely strong.
In view of some of the bizarre theories that have surfaced in recent times (e.g., the notion that all end-time prophecies were fulfilled with the fall of Jerusalem in A.D. 70), which are dependent upon the preterist interpretation, we offer the following.
The external evidence for the late dating of Revelation is of the highest quality.
Irenaeus (A.D. 180), a student of Polycarp (who was a disciple of the apostle John), wrote that the apocalyptic vision “was seen not very long ago, almost in our own generation, at the close of the reign of Domitian” (Against Heresies 30). The testimony of Irenaeus, not far removed from the apostolic age, is first rate. He places the book near the end of Domitian’s reign, and that ruler died in A.D. 96. Irenaeus seems to be unaware of any other view for the date of the book of Revelation."

Some say around 95 on Patmos, although Wikipedia says like 350-360ad but still by 'a' John on Patmos.... I can't get with the preterist view but yeah anyway revelation is enough to make my head hurt... Promises a blessing if you read it; must be THAT important for our times and those ahead. That's just my opinion though

they will be no third captivity now the completion of matthew 24 Luke 21 and Mark 13 is coming sooner than one think. The Lord is coming to gather his people from the 4 winds to heaven.
The Entire Earth is going to see him in his glory with all the angels. This earth bout to get hit with Fire and his chosen people who believed whether dead or alive are getting gathered and the people who believed the truth of Christ and followed the Lord and ACKNOWLEDGED his children who is the apple of his eye will also get to go the land as well. But his children are still the head. They are all Israelites.
Side note; A big big mistake to rely on Jewish historians to give you your own history. It becomes so corrupt. That advise is coming from a native Palestinian.
