Bill seems very sensible in his position. Blue bird fascinated me since first seeing the Anthony Hopkins movie. I would love to see this in a museum and also run on water for a short time each year.

I donated to the bluebird project to see bluebird run on water again, not to see it static in a museum, that is what bill always said that it will be run on water, bill brought it up, he on Gina’s request brought Donald’s remains up, the museum is despicable for trying push away the bluebird projects involvement in restoring K7, I will never go to that museum ever.

They see money from visitors no it’s rebuild. The family also se the pound signs. They should for ever be grateful for bill bringing the Skipper home but are not. Toffs and money 💰 can’t be trusted. Never

A staggering display of bloody mindedness and classic example of a complete lack of project management. I can’t imagine an end to this very sad situation. I vividly remember seeing the reports of K7 being brought to the surface and hoping one day to see it, sadly for me and many others, that seems very unlikely. If these people want Donald Campbell and K7 to be remembered they really MUST resolve this before the generation of people who remember speed record attempts have all left us. It will mean nothing to younger generations without the older generation to enthuse them.
To all the people involved - get a grip and get this ridiculous situation resolved.

What a disappointing setup - a 3 on 1 debate (note the lawyer being prompted by the bloke from the Ruskin), the chair waffling so much when we wanted to hear from the others, BBP barely getting to speak (and muted whilst others were talking so unable to join in discussion unless asked). And mics - come on, that's basic ffs

Since 2006 myself and two friends have being gong to Consiston for records week. On one occasion in the Ruskin museum there were parts of K7 lifted from the wreck site, parts of the cockpit. A notice said 'please don't touch'' but I did and the feeling I got touched my soul. Every year we watch record attempts at the crash site and raise a glass to the Skipper. He deserved more than this!

Sorry but the answer is simple. They had a tripartite agreement early on between them as stake holders.
If the lawyer simply downplayed the “title” to the goods bit, and the nephew just loosened up rather than harbouring a grudge, I am sure that a tripartite agreement could be reached very quickly.
All it needs to be agreed is three things:
1 Bluebird K7 should remain a “living” viable exhibit in the similar to the historic Mallard steam train.
2 That Bill Smith’s group should become a charity (if it’s not already one) so it operates under similar rules and conventions as the Ruskin Museum and by virtue of its stake in the project it will have exclusive rights to maintain Bluebird and run it for display purposes only on Coniston Waters.
3 that whilst the Ruskin Museum are the Ultimate Beneficial Owners of Bluebird K7. The Charity set up by Bill Smith’s group has an in perpetuity stake in the tripartite agreement to maintain Bluebird and to run it as an exhibit on Coniston Water.
Once the tripartite agreement is reached it can only be varied in future by agreement of all three signatories to the agreement i.e. 1 Bill Smith’s Charity set up to maintain and run it, 2 the Ruskin Museum the UBO and 3 the Donald Campbell Family Trust.
I am sure the lawyer can provide suitable legal jargon to what should be a simple agreement.
They just need to work together 🙄

The childishness of the guys from the museum guys is beyond belief, grow a pair, they wouldn’t have bluebird only for Bill, how has the museum stayed open with these people running it?

Donald would be turning in his grave , looking at how petty this has become,
I’m sure Donald was inspired by others , I’m sure he would want the same for future generations,
I’m just glad Donald stood for everything that these men are not

With what got carried out I'm not sure why people would want it in a museum for any long length of time. The project was to get the boat on water and tour it. If you change most of the parts is it the original? What good is a working re-build in a museum? If we're talking the wreckage or original components in the museum sure... But a rebuild... Why?? Coincidentally I just watched a Guy Martin documentary where the Dutch spent millions to recover a Lancaster Bomber and 3 bodies out of lake to honour their sacrifice and put them to rest.

I'm a fan of literature, and make several trips to the Lake District every year. And yet I've never visited the Ruskin Museum. I'm aware of Ruskin, but not terribly familiar with his work. If Ruskin can go under the radar of someone with a literature degree, I suspect he will be completely off the radar for a lot of Lakeland visitors. They will head to Grasmere for Wordsworth.
It seems to me that the museum know how much of a publicity draw K7 would be....dare I say it, far more than Ruskin himself?

What has this now got to do with Gina and Don? The boat is owned by the Ruskin, so any discussions on the future should be between them and BBP. So what if Bill/Gina/Don don’t get on anymore. Stay out of it.

If Bill Smith had his way ,K7 would never go to the Ruskin museum .
He would take it on a world 🌎 tour as the soul owner
    Under a media circus
    Making him a fortune .
Then, if billionaires came along with a ridiculously high bids, he would have sold it.
It would never be seen in
    England again😢

That’s the family and museum looking to cash in. Bill brought the skipper home, when nobody else cared to. They view the BBP as plebs to use their work for the toffs gain. Uk upper class always the same. Users

How about a millionaire just buy it and take it back to where it belongs

Bill Smith became too attached and developed gollum syndrome...completely understandable given his dedication...he should have been treated properly as part of the story of Bluebird.

Bill brought the Skipper and boat home. The family left him their for 34 years without trying. They used bill and the BBP and now look to cash in. Toffs always do the same
