My TLDR answer is as follows, lol: First off, Princess IS my favorite CL purely d/t food. With that said, not any time soon. The lack of water park is a downfall for me. I'd rather take a solo cruise (well, just my husband and myself, not solo) without the kiddos. My youngest is too young to leave with a sitter at this time. My kids have gotten used to the funner ships with water parks and I don't think they'd be jazzed about not haviing those. NCL and Carnival would be the ones we sail, NCL preferred, food better in my experience, just a tad nicer than CCL.
I hope you enjoyed you're holiday, I will be working aboard the beautiful Discovery from April till October absolutely buzzing to work on such a beauty of a ship, its very diffrent to RCI but like most lines each ship/brand have diffrent paths and target audiences. I hope our new guests will enjoy my entertainment and selction of music!
My family is going to do a New Year’s cruise 2024 Mexican Rivera . We like princess but haven’t been on discovery yet. Just not sure how a new years cruise would be and weather that time of year.

We just got back from crusing on the Discovery Princess to Alaska. It was my first cruise and far surpassed any expectations I could have had. The Crew was also amazing. We loved Duvaal the cruise director.
Excellent review, the side deck map helps me as well. You also speak clearly, and not too fast. Great info given, helpful to have hours for venues and I'm always trying to understand what parts of ship are included or an extra charge area. Nicely done! Thank you.
Interesting video but the ship looks like it’s missing some fun and excitement. We’re seniors but like various activities and shows of the RC ships. We would probably not choose Princess unless it’s going to some ports that would interest us.

I just booked a 28 day Vancouver to Singapore cruise on the Discovery. It does NOT look much different from the Regal Princess. I thought that the included food was good enough to pass on the specialty dining.

Churchills is closed as of 7-27-24, I too enjoys cigars and was disappointed to learn that they are putting in a video arcade, but the cigar smoking is on the 7th deck aft and the 17th deck aft. The aft smoking area looked a lot nicer on the Discovery than it did on the Ruby Princess...

Glad you enjoyed the review. Overall, we thought the main dining room was just okay. We did like the pizza and buffet for casual options. The international cafe was good for a quick bite, but we expected more at the sit down restaurants.

I did the Discovery on the Alaska Sampler out of Vancouver May 4-8, it was a great cruise and I loved the ship. This was my first Princess cruise and I am looking forward to many more. Thanks for the great video
Hello everyone. Our Mexico trip coming up in October will be our 4th trip on Princess (Royal Class ships I think). #1) Eastern Seaborg (Brookland thru Novas Socia anb back), #2) Bahamas, (Ft. Lauderdale to numerous places in the West Indies including San Martin and back), #3) Grand Western Europe (Barcelona thru Montenegro then ending in Rome). #4) This coming October (LA, to Cabo, Mazatlán, Purta Virata and back to LA). Anyway, in this video at 5:55 I noticed the carpet design in one of the cabin hallways has an interesting pattern. Unlike the other Princess Cruise ships, we have been on, the carpets have a random design. ON this ship, I see three distinct shapes pointing in the same direction down the hallway. Hopefully, this shape indicates that ship direction of travel, e.g.: pointing toward the forward of the ship. As comical as it may seem, for the first few days of our trips, we get turned around with respect to the forward and aft direction of the ship when below deck or on decks without windows. It's a bit embarrassing being a our middle 60's, walking aimlessly down endless hallways looking for the elevator, the laundry room or anything else for that matter. As we get to the upper levels where windows are present, we simply glance at the direction of travel based on the movement of the ship relative to the water. Having this pattern everywhere on the ship (if that's what it is intended to be for) is what I would certainly vote for.
Princess always was my favorite CL, but now that I have kids I definitely think they're subtly trying to keep kids off their ships. It's a bummer there's no water park and ropes course. They could've made it look less tacky and gone with a more neutral color scheme because I get that those waterparks (color-wise) don't fit their brand as the slides are quite bright. Maybe once my kids are grown I'll return to Princess but for now I think these ships are more intended for singles or seniors than for families. What a bummer. I'm sure people who don't like kids are glad, but also there's Virgin CL for them, IMO.
We tend to choose adults only resorts (usually hang out in Sanctuary for quiet sunning, reading and cocktails) and I think you’re onto something. We noticed very few kids- and it was Spring Break!
The Discovery Channel associated kids clubs are very well run. If you want your kids to run around like ninnies on a cruise and just be stimulated and entertained, then, yeah, you need a lot of top deck entertainment. On the other hand, if you insist that your kids are well behaved and can exist in more subtle environments, Princess has the right idea, kids clubs with an educational and enrichment focus.
How was the wifi? I've got a cruise coming up on Island Princess in August and I'm looking at Discovery Princess for October but I need to log into a remote desktop to work. Is the wifi consitent and strong enough to work? Also, can you tell me if wifi calling (not app-based calls) works? Thank you so much!

I love the look of the meals you had at Crown. If we booked Crown as one of our two specialty dining meals with premier what might not be included? Also premier allows for cocktails up to $18.00. Hi! Thank you for the tour of the Discovery cruise ship. Can you please tell me if any of the pools or hot tubs are wheelchair accessible. I am in a power wheelchair but can get out of it and manage a few steps if there is a railing/handhold. Thank you!
The pools were accessible. We are not sure about the hot tubs. Most of those require you to climb a few steps up to access them. But some pools have chairs that can lower and raise you out of the water. When is your next cruise?
Beautiful and informative video!!!! Love how you incorporated the deck maps!!! Did you happen to notice where the outdoor smoking sections were? Was there a side of the wake view you could smoke at? Yes, I am a social pariah who loves smoking cigars whilst outdoors looking at the wake. What does "medallion class experience" mean? Is there a "medallion class" like there is say Yacht Class on MSC? Do all passengers get the medallion or only some (at a price)? My point is, why not use ordinary and precise language instead of convoluted expressions that are not informative? That said, I appreciate very much your videos and watch them precisely because they are informative.
This is the language the cruise line uses. MedallionClass means the ships have the wearable technology that uses the app instead of a key card. Now all Princess ships have these capabilities. It enables a number of features. It has nothing to do with staterooms. Thanks for watching.

It is true there are not as many attractions on current Princess ships. That could change with its next class.

Where do you make reservations for the sanctuary and/or shows? Thank you for the tour.
Princess doesn’t require show reservations. For the Sanctuary you can book pre-cruise or first day.
What does "medallion class experience" mean? Is there a "medallion class" like there is say Yacht Class on MSC? Do all passengers get the medallion or only some (at a price)? My point is, why not use ordinary and precise language instead of convoluted expressions that are not informative? That said, I appreciate very much your videos and watch them precisely because they are informative.
This is the language the cruise line uses. MedallionClass means the ships have the wearable technology that uses the app instead of a key card. Now all Princess ships have these capabilities. It enables a number of features. It has nothing to do with staterooms. Thanks for watching.

Only in the buffet. They do not have water refill stations around the ship like Virgin Voyages or Oceania Cruises.

How many pickleball courts are there?
One. It doubles as the basketball court too.
Are guests allowed to play the pianos themselves?
We would recommend you contact the cruise line, but we are pretty sure guests are not allowed to play any of the musical instruments.

We are taking a cruise on Discovery in October to the Mexican Riviera, so really looking forward to the "Day of the Dead " decorations! You showed 2 smoking areas, are there others? Our cabin is mid-ship, so I'm hoping there is a closer spot.

I love your tour, it's very helpful for planning, specifically the way you show the highlighted ship graphic before you show the actual area I find most helpful . My questions is can the Internet Café room be used by passengers even if I don't buy the wifi package? I may need to check email and I'm trying to get away from depending on wifi for this trip.
