Good job!
He really looks like an Iron Warrior.
You´ve made Peter Turbo proud.
Got a pert video coming soon
He's called a worrior because it's pretty worrying to see him point that huge gun towards you
Definitely
FACT !❤
Great little tutorial, shared this around to some of my Iron warrior friends :)
Awesome thank you!
Love the videos. That Iron Warrior looks awesome. I paint different stuff to you, but your videos always inspire me to pick up my brush when I'm procrastinating. Thanks for sharing!
Great to hear! Really means a lot
Love this method.
Iron Warriors have such a unique look and this shows it off perfectly
Thanks so much! Feel free to check out my perturabo video
So glad you covered this legion... Iron warriors and iron hands had some great stories that were never really addressed after 2018... Great painting, as always.. Looking forward to seeing the son reappear for a future paint job!
Glad you enjoyed it!
@@TheFeralPainter I more than enjoyed it, i sort of... loved it.
These look great. Good job and thank you for the tutorial.
You are so welcome!
Appreciate the closeup shots at the end and that you let the turntable go on for a while. Great looking finish to the model! Sub’d.
Thank you very much!
this tutorial has helped me so much!! With my painting I have started a full army of these guys i've love to see you tackle a chaos vindicator thanks again
Hope u enjoy! Glad i could help
This is some seriously cool work.
Thanks man
This looks so good man
Thanks dude
Another great guide! Lovely stuff
Glad you enjoyed it!
Dude this is so good. So *metal*.
Thanks man
Great video! I reckon you could bang out a great looking army in no time with this recipe
Yea would love one
U read my mind i was gonna ask on ur next video for grimdark silver model ive just started silver skulls army bored of red paint now 😂😂 airbrushed vallejo aluminium and couldnt belive how smooth it went on after using some of the techniques ive picked up from ur vids used on to that model it looks so realistic the silver armour does just want some extra damage on its armour which uve just explained nice one bro keep up good work
Thanks mannn really means a lot! X
@HellstormWargaming brought me here and that yellow is amazing 'my guy' ;) You have a new sub from this.
Welcome aboard! Thankyou sir
Superb work mate, I'll be giving this technique a try! Can I ask how you eiuld replicate thus technique on larger items like tanks? I wondered if the same method for applying the silver would work on large flat panels?
Damn, this metalic colour is so tasty. I'm going to buy it.
Enjoy
Very cool!
Thanks man. Feel free to check out my perty video
@@TheFeralPainter For sure! I will add that one of my favorite parts here was stippling to get the metal texture!
This is awesome. I’m just starting a grey knights army and don’t like the super shiny look so this has come at just the right time. Just a quick question, I’m doing some parts in sub assembly and wondered if you’d glue everything together before using the oil wash?
Ermmm I didn’t for this. But I usually paint sub assembly a lot. Find it easier
Hey, loved how you mixes contrast and medium to create your own shade :D
Do you think agrax earthshade would create something similar?
Yes that would work great too
I’d like to see an Iron Hand tutorial. Nice job!
Coming soon!
I think I might use this scheme but for Grey knights, replacing the darling with a blue contrast.
Sounds good to me dude!
Hi! Your tutorial is amazing, the results are really really good. As a quick question, when you say to highlight the pauldrons with flash gitz yellow does that mean to drybrush over the entire pauldron or just the upper area?
Yes, correct or u can use a scratchy technique 👌🏻
@@TheFeralPainter Thank you for the reply! If you ever get a moment can you clarify if you're saying yes to the entire pauldron or just the upper area. Thanks again :)
Upper
@@TheFeralPainter Thank you!
You know what sucks i have none of those colors 😢 so I've been mixing runefang steel and vallejo black to get gunmetal. Thanks for all the tips it really helps man
Can always use some of the darker gw coulors
very cool! hope you get around to emperor's children in a similar style!
Up next! ✌🏼
I did Perterabo in exactly the same way 4 years ago now. In fact I do any gritty, dark wartorn armour in this style as it fits perfectly for me the era of Horus Heresy. And also it is so easy!
The hardest bit is always those pesky hazard stripes but after over 2 decades I have become fairly handy lol
I contrast this gritty style with very colourful wires instead of drab ones.
Nice vid sir 👌👏
Wow that sounds awesome man!! Would love to paint him up!!
Thanks again for kind words!!!
@@TheFeralPainter I have done all the Forgeworld Primarchs now man. But Pertys armour and model is my fav of them all!
Tbh my fav forgeworld model ever 👌
@@TheFeralPainter and you are very welcome mate.
Cheers for the constent content 👊
Thanks again dude!! But yea he looks great!!! Deffo next on my list! He has the most epic base too!!! I’ve only done lion Magnus and Horus ascended atm
@@TheFeralPainterrandom af, but wanna know my fav part of painting that base haha?
It has loads of shells that have obviously blasted out of Peter Turbo's epic, wrist mounted cannons.
The shine off those just contrast the bleakness so well man. But you are right. That was one cool model I will prob buy again tbh
Nice!!!!
Thank you! Cheers!
Awesome take on grimdark iron warriors, first time I’ve seen this scheme on UA-cam that was too silvery or clean.
Glad you enjoyed it
Easy!!!! Like it very much !!!!!
Thanks man
What about adding a few fresh metallic scratches to the hazard stripes?
Thats an option
Wonderful tutorial, but enamel washing scares me a little, so after you've put the wash on what do you use to remove it (both tool and solution), and do you do it instantly after or do you let the enamel wash fully dry first?
Hay man, I have a lot of vids showing this. But yea basically apply. Then wait to dry then use a brush cotton swob, or sponge to remove with mineral spirits
Whats the name of the tool thingy you used at 10:26 to wipe the wash away?
There women’s eye makeup sponges, like £5 for 100 off Amazon hope that helps man
Finally plucked up the courage to actually paint. Regarding the step of ratling grime + contrast. You went to explain alternatives and then say that 'this step isn't necessary'. Were you referring to the ratling.. being unneccesary or the alternatives ie rustifying as well being unnecessary.
I went to look for both paints, and thought I might not have contrast medium... I have two contrast medium but no ratling grime lol so wondering if it's possible to skip. I do however have darkoath flesh which you suggest as an alternative, what sort of mix do you suggest there?
Darkath flesh works absolutely amazing!! If not more rusty!!
I mean the rattleing grime is optional, depending if u wish for a more darker look or prefer the cleaner look. Althou using different coulor contrast can obtain a different look. This is something i would probably implore if painting an army, to give different looks/verity between units. Making some units look more aged or weathered differnt. Hope that helps. And again of you wish for a more (newer)/ less aged unit, then skip that step.
You could even use a wash at this stage such as: nuln oil, agrax, or even targor rage shade.
Hope all that helps thanks Nate
Do you thin the darkoath flesh 1:1 as you did with the ratling grime?@@TheFeralPainter
Yes or if u want it dark then less water
A big thank you for this video. I've finally beaten the deadlock of not painting an army. Batch painting 100+ marines has been unfun to say the least, but they've turned out great even with my poor painting ability. I used the darkoath thinned down - I was very surprised by how rusty looking they've come and how effective it was (it was a slightly off 1:1 mix 18ml darkoath:24 contrast medium because that was the pots I had). They obviously deviate from your method a fair bit in the rustiness, but I am happy with them. Getting used to how much I wanted to lather it on also means there's a fair bit of variation in their looks. I'm also consider not doing the enamel wash stage although again, thanks to your advice, I have got everything ready and for some reason tested it on Perturabo (which was brave, especially after not shaking the wash before use haha). But yeah thanks again, infantry done (no hazard stripes for now though) and on to filling out a list/ choosing vehicles dreadnoughts. Currently I have:
60 marines (with shrapnel bolters)
20 iron havocs with autocannon
10 iron havocs with lascannon
20 assault destroyers
5 converted tyrant siege terminators
10 converted dominator terminators
God I love warhammer. @@TheFeralPainter
Wow!!!! Sounds unreal!!!! Well done for doing it!!
If you do drybrush with V Mtl C , use makeup brushes, the metal in them will shred the brush.
Thanks for tip
@@TheFeralPainterI didn't want you to ruin those opus brushes, not that I did exactly that xD
What did you use for the bases, mate?
Pigment powders
Pardon my ignorance but what paint were ya using for the black stripes?
You can use any. However the one I used I believe was ak interactive black. The ak paints are really good! So smooth and very opaque so rarely need two coats.
Also reccomend the gw contrast black legion
Thanks @@TheFeralPainter , God bless ya and your family and I hope y'all have a beautiful Christmas
What's a good alternative for "Scale75 Thrash Metal"?
Any medium/bright silver
@@TheFeralPainter Thanks for the advice! c:
Could you do a grimdark tutorial with Minotaurs paint scheme?
Just seen them look awesome
@@TheFeralPainteryeah I’m having trouble with it because they have that Ancient Greek heroic aesthethic. But I also want them to look grim dark.
Where did you get the heavy weapon? Think I've bought the wrong box because I only got bolter rifles & pistols with the mk3 Heresy minis😪
Frkm the upgrade sprews 👌🏻
@@TheFeralPainter Cheers mate I'll look them up😎
They ain't no Iron Hands but they still look awesome!
Thanks man!
Iron within
👌🏻👌🏻
Did you get your toes transplanted on your hands
Yea your mums Pussy was that rank it made my fingers fall off!
Needs more stripes.
Oh sorry my dear squire boy, feel free to upload your own tutorial and explain how many there should be.
@@TheFeralPainter Anything that's metal color should be stripes. You said you painted an Iron Warrior but only went halfway on the stripes. 🚧🚧🚧🚧🚧🚧
Iron Worriers 😂
Yep welcome to dyslexia! Apologies if it offends 👌🏻 carnt all be perfect.
@@TheFeralPainter 👍😃
@@TheFeralPainter offend? Really? I hope people would have thicker skin than that. I thought you were cracking a joke on Perterabo
😂😂 it was a lil dig at the grammer police 😂 they usually msg me in private and tell me i need to go back to school 😂😂😂😂 honestly i get more comments about not getting paint names right or spelling than i do about the painting 😂😂 some people. Any way hope your good dude! 👌🏻
