How to Install a pool handle. It was so easy to install these handrails, and I love them so much, I am recommending them, and put an affiliate link so you can buy them right now. You will love these pool handrails. - Навчання та стиль
The only thing I would do different, is have them bonded by an electrician. They have been removed by the new owners.
Pool place came out last week and quoted me $800. I found your video and am ordering the handrail and installing it myself! Thanks a million!
Thanks for taking the time to comment Bob ! Fantastic!
Cliff Yates a super funny comedian and now a do it yourself guru..You just saved me a ton of money Ciff. I bought this and will be installing it this Friday. ! Yes!
Pablo you won’t be unhappy. Work great and low profile makes them hardly noticeable
EXACTLY what I was looking for !!! Everyone just wants to sell you something... You sold us on integrity !! Thanks
wow!! Thanks Rudy!! you made my day!!
Thank you for the video Cliff. Just a little update;
Now, the handrails come with metal expanding anchors ( split lead anchors)
Also included is the hammer drill bit
We have 2 sizes available now,
1. Small rail( spa rail)
2. Large rail (Pool rail )
Both manufactured by Fibropool and sold by dropshippools
If it hasn’t been noted already, one major safety note that he neglected to mention is that the rail must be electrically bonded to the existing pools bonding grid to prevent a shock hazard. Do your research or call a licensed electrician.
I wonder how you would even do that after the pool was built?
@@tonym2881 Most in ground pool rails have embedded anchor sleeves That are made to bond and can be retrofitted as well. Before doing anything you need to educate yourself or what actual pool bonding is because it’s not the same as grounding. I am not a electrician so I would highly recommend that if you have any questions to contact an expert and or a licensed electrician about bonding a pool. A pool can be bonded after the fact, but it can be very difficult and expensive. The question you have to ask yourself is is your family‘s life worth it.
@@Italian-Hillbilly Or what is the probability of danger. For instance the danger here is that electricity is used to run your pumps etc., and that an electrical current could reach your pool, but this is often negated in modern PVC piping. If there is no electrical path between the source of electricity and the pool, it is very doubtful an electrical current will reach the people in it. In this case drilling a ladder into the pool concrete is very unlikely to lead to an issue. But OVERALL Yes, you want your system to shut down if there is a short or connection, and you should be familiar with your pool and bonding.
That’s only if the rails are in the water. Water bonding for static shock is different than electrical bonding of pool equipment.
All metal parts within 10ft of the pool need to be bonded together. There is a risk of potential difference between any unbounded object and any bonded object
You drilled the holes. Then it shows you tightening the screws. I am confused about how to get the anchors in. Just wondering why go through the trouble of making a how-to and leave out the main part?
at 3:14 of the video I explain I'm using cement anchor bolts, that come with metal sleeves, and as you tighten the bolts in the sleeves, the sleeves expand anchoring the bolts. Thank you
So, you hammer the anchor in?
Cliff, nice video, was reading all your comments and noticed you ended up bonding the handrail and was wondering if you have a video on how you did it.
Thanks Cathy, I don't have a video on that. We sold the house, so I wanted to get it done before we sold, and it was a whirlwind time. Thanks for taking the time to comment.
once you drill you can attach a copper wire to the rail, then to the re-bar under the concrete, you might have to fish for it, then transient voltage has a place to go rather than a human -
Good job, easy to understand. I like this guy!!
Dude, you're my hero! Ordering one right now! My older mom is gonna be jazzed! I've got nothing now.
desertjedi Still solid too, almost two years
It took less than 45 minutes and looks great! Thanks for the video to help install.
Jim Mathis thanks for taking the time to leave s reply Jim! Much appreciated
How did you bond the metal railing to the pool bonding?
Great video, Cliff. Very helpful, thanks!
Thanks so much Ron, Always appreciate positive feedback.
Great info! Thought it would be more difficult. Thanks so much!
Glad it was helpful!
Hey Cliff!
Nice video man. It's exactly what I was looking for and am going to take your advice and get two, one for the pool
, one for the jacuzzi, install, make cocktail, enter jacuzzi!
Cheers...
Thanks,, Exactly the right order, install, cocktail, enter jacuzzi, love it! Cheers. Thanks for taking the time to comment.
This is awesome, thank you for sharing!!
Thanks for the feedback!!!
Sir, how deep did you drill the holes before securing the rail!
It was the length of the bolts that came with the handles
Thanks, Steve Buscemi's brother.
lol Thanks Paul
Cool video. I’m going to get one
What time of drill did you use and drill bit.!? Thank you for the video too very helpful
Thanks for the response Art. A rotodrill for drilling into stone or concrete. The lag bolts will tell you what size drill bit
I was searching the internet looking for ideas and came across your video. Thank you for sharing such a great idea.
Dwayne Green Thanks Dwayne! I appreciate you taking the time to comment
What is the difference between “bonded” and “grounded”. One comments was that it needs to be bonded but not grounded? Thanks
I'm told bonded, you are right. Thank You
What is the name of the rail and where can I buy one?
Just wondering if it's possible and advisable to remove the railing every fall when it comes time to cover the pool. Or does that make the concrete bolts get looser over time?
I think there would be better anchors that would allow removing and re applying without compromising the strength
How did you decide how far back to mount it? I was told 10 inches from the siding edge, but it seems like you would need at least a couple inches past the concrete edge just to be safe?
I went back quite a few inches making sure the handle was in good position for grabbing to get out. Amd lowering in. You have to go back a bit so the handle isn’t hanging over to far impeding movement in pool or jacuzzi
Cliff, what model is that handle. I have limited space and that size looks perfect.
Ed Private just measured looks to be 32 inches hit the link and check listed dimensions. We love em
Cliff Yates is this it? Have you had any issues with rusting? Thank you.

Great video. Thanks for the help!!!
Great video - many of these state that they are not recommended for salt water pools - do you know anything about that? Also..love your gazebo in the background - was that custom or can I purchase that in a kit?
Custom built. Haven't looked into the Salt water, probably not though.. Thanks for the feedback.
I'm a pool builder here in Florida. We use composite handrails for existing pools that want to add a handrail. This way you don't have to ground it because there is no metal.
Cliff, getting ready to order two of these and install. Question: Do these need to be "bonded" electrically?
I was told this was the case by commenters. I went to my pool guy, and he didn't see how anyone could be electrocuted by this. I think the bonding is a simple process.
National Electrical code
Equipotential bonding.
680.26 Bonding.(b)(5) Metal Wiring Methods and Equipment. Metal piping, fixed metal parts, observation stands, towers, platforms, or diving structures, as well as metallic surfaces of electrical equipment located within 5 ft horizontally of the inside walls of the pool, outdoor spa or hot tub, and within 12 ft above the maximum water level...
Thanks, pool company here wanted $1000.
Thanks Ralph, I miss my pool, a little, we moved to the beach in Florida.. Enjoy, and thanks for taking the time to leave a comment.
@@CliffYates I ordered it, arriving on Saturday. Thanks again.
Can this railing be removed each fall? I use a pool cover and the rail will be in the way.
I don't think these types of lag bolts would be good to remove and replace as an ongoing thing. but I'm sure there are better anchors that would allow that without compromising strength
Great Video! I'm looking for a company that will install my handrail correctly in the small town of Aynor, SC just 35 miles from Myrtle Beach, SC.
If anyone know of a good company or service provider, please comment below. Thanks
Thank you SC Coastal Living, the house has been sold and the new owner removed the pool handles. What I would do different is make sure they were bonded
If you buy the PVC handles, you don't have to have them electrically ground.
What is the weight limit for the hand rail?
I'm not sure, but I had a 250lb plus friend pull himself right out with no visual stress on the handle
Sir, what brand is that rail?
I put a link in the description that takes you to the Amazon page
How do you ground it without messing up the cement?
Can't unfortunately
Am electrician can bond them without very much cement work.
Cliff Yates perhaps a ground rod pounded beneath the mounting hole would do the trick to ground the hand rail?
@@quantabyte Grounding and bonding are totally different things.
What size drill bit?
I forgot, but the bolts that come with it, designate a proper size drill bit
I’ve heard the guardrails should also be grounded as per some local codes
Yes they should be bonded
Thanks a lot for this video.. A pool company wanted to charge me $900😳....✌🏄♂️
Thanks Hang Ten!! You will have no trouble putting these in, and you will be happy.
Hi Cliff, Love your video. I have a question for you. Does the handrail need to be grounded? I have a rail very similar to yours and someone told me that it needs to be grounded.
I was told by one pool guy no, and another yes, I just did it to be on the safe side. I would say yes, I'm going to put a mention of this on the video
@@CliffYates Look up codes the answer is yes it needs to be bonded
Bonded, yes. Grounded, no.
@@PatCrow I wonder if this one would need to be bonded as well. I like the idea but how the heck can you bond that thing after a pool construction www.lowes.com/pd/Saftron-Saftron-SF-24-in-Single-Post-Polymer-In-Ground-Spa-Safety-Support-Rail-Gray/1002466774
@@tonym2881 you would have to locate the bond wire and cut the concrete and lay a bond wire connection to the handle. I just covered my handle with kool skins instead.
Ya, pretty likeable guy. You look pretty tall and handrails look almost too low for you but probably better for mom
What about the grounding???
Yes , bond and ground all electrical
You spoke how you did it..
Thanks Luis ! Appreciate you taking the time to comment
Nice 💯🙏🙏🗡️💯💯
Thanks man
Will you come do mine? Lol
Talks too much. Video 3 min tops !
Thanks for taking the time to comment, Have a great day
