  • This is my GMRS repeater build for Camping or SHTF setup. The only thing I have to install is a repeater identifier and this build will be complete. Thanks for watching!

Moving air saves these radios, I have 2 kenwood tk880's on the air, one is the 880h with 45watts. March will be 1 year running high-power, used daily and hour long nets plus each tuesday. Great video on the mobile rig.

I have thought about assembling a SHTF repeater using a cheap Chinese duplexer and a couple of Motorolas. However in my country to be "legal" on our UHF CB frequency allocation the Tx/Rx have a 0.75MHz split. A cavity filter that will tune that narrow is large, very expensive and almost impossible to get hold of 2nd hand. I would probably have to run two antennas and deal with the difficulties associated with that unfortunately.

Nice video my concern is out of band rejection. So do either of these have specs on out of band.

Not my video, but....Being notch duplexers, I don't think they'll do much for out of band reject. They just notch the opposite freq on the duplexer. You'd need a pass/notch duplexer to reject OOB.

I’ve backed away from the radio game for a bit, but there’s many other informative vids on here for sure. That’s how I learned.

You make it sound like you detach the bat for going mobile. You shouldn't need to. You should be able to feed your vehicle power in to your DCC. Charge your bat while mobile.
