Thank You! I have a 3RZ Replaced the timing chain and did s balance shafts delete but kept getting the P0336. Tore all down just to make sure I didn't do anything wrong. I didn't.... so this went on for 3 days. I put the code in UA-cam and up pooped your vid..... I advanced the distributor 1 tooth and BAMMMMMM .... idles good and code gone....Thank You again!
It did not line up exactly because there is some mechanical advance built in, but it was closer. I wish I had thought to measure it, but unfortunately I did not.
Thanks I’m getting a p0336 code and I’ve replaced all the sensors, distributor, and computer and still having the same issue so I’m gonna go out on a limb and assume it’s a wiring issue somewhere
Yes no kidding, I’ve messed with some of the wires coming off the distributor where it runs into the main harness and now the code is gone but truck is still doing the same thing
How would you go about doing this if you’re not at tdc I replaced my distributor (same engine but ‘95) but I’m guessing I’m about a tooth off as well because I’m misfiring at 3k rpm and high idle (manual tran). Got same code too p0336
Rotating the distributor? You can can rotate it at any point, not just TDC. You just have to watch the distributor rotor and note where it is before and after to see how much you have changed it.
Thank You!

Thx for sharing. People like you help people like me more than you know! Keep it up my elite brethren!
Nice work .. interesting find :) 😀
Did the pickup for the camshaft sensor line up completely even after you adjusted timing ?

@@MorganEades-rn6sz ugh that’s what we all dread…. The wire-by-wire drudgery.

Please, could you tell me how connected your scaner tool?
In this case it’s just a normal OBDII scanner that plugs into the factory OBDII port below the steering wheel.
