Tomorrow my 0311G with the FB52 ball head will be delivered. I saved some money by going with the FB52 ball head instead of the XB52 ball head. I went with the pig saddle since it was a third of the price of the hog saddle. It will be a heavy set up but I hunt stationary in a ground blind so I'll be ok.
You said the leveling base was a negative for the Leofoto but YOU chose to put that on there. You could've put on a Leofoto MAB-75 or STB-75 head and have gotten the same range of motion as the RRS head
First, this is an old video... Second, I didn't have any choice when I bought that. I would choose differently now. The RRS setup is still the best choice imo.
Nice video. I, personally, prefer a Pan/Tilt head over a ball head. Especially if the tripod will be used dual purpose (rifle rest and spotting scope). They are just so much easier to adjust 1 axis at a time when heavy loads are on them. But that's just me, too.
Please dont do the bloop sound when you display some text. I found it really distracting while watching the video. I kept hearing the bloop but it didnt seem, at first, like it was this video. So i spent 20 minutes looking through windows and programs on my pc trying to figure out what was making that bloop noise. Otherwise good info. In the market for a tripod :D
Just curious why you felt obligated to unnecessarily tack on the hog saddle and it’s factor in its weight for the PIG when you could’ve just done a direct arca mount to the ballhead like you did with the first two rigs. It’s a superfluous point of mechanical instability and excess weight which could’ve been eliminated.
just making sure I understand your question: are you saying I should have just clipped the rifles in directly to the ballhead on the PIG tripod? If so, yes I could have done that, but one of the points of the video was to test accuracy from the Hog Saddle.
Thank you for the comparison video. I couldn't find where you mentioned which RRS legs were being tested in combination with the Anvil head. Based on the 4lbs 11oz, it seems like it was the 3 section legs, or TFCT-33. I'd be curious to see testing of more RRS setups to compare accuracy between them, although this might be hard to measure without a large sample size from each setup. Most shooters over 6' will be using the long legs (ie 24L or 34L), and in theory the wider apex on the versa would provide greater stability.
The tripod is total garbage. Its tripod locking lugs that lock the legs into place work maybe 20% of the time. I'm an engineer and this is a very poor design. Its a three step process to locked out the legs out and the slop in the locking mechanism is very poorly deigned. You'll spend more of your time trying to get the legs locked and your tripod level than you do shooting! Mine went straight into the trash can.
@@PrecisionRifleNetwork The K700 tripod I found out its only supposed to lock at 16, 40 and 65 degrees. But even at those angles the locking lugs were very difficult to get locked into the slots. You have to rock the leg back and forth and fiddle with the locking mechanism to feel you want to get it to engage. Even knowing this it took on average 5 tries or so each time to get it to lock into place. So it just wasn't worth the hassle.
@@harrymiles2906 The green one here is from Hog Saddle and is an adaptation of the Pro700 from Slik. Josh Stabler at hog saddle is an ex-marine corps sniper and made these specifically to withstand military use. They are tough as nails, and I've never had an issue with mine.

My comments may not be completely applicable this video but I thought I tell my story here which may save someone some money if they have the same high expectations I did for a tripod kit -- which I know everyone won't. I spent $2,850 and went through 4 tripod kits until I found the one that met my expectations. My expectations are the tripod kit would lock my rifle down like a vice once I got my cross hairs centered on the target and won't move. I know I have very high expectations for a tripod kit. I started with the BOG Deathgrip. It had too much wobble and when I let go of my rifle the saddle would not hold my 9.6lbs rifle in place and the saddle canted all the way backwards to the stops. So it wouldn't hold my rifle in position. I then bought the REAPER tripod kit. The legs have three locking points but it was very difficult to find the locking positions. I actually broke one of the locking lugs on a leg trying to get it locked....I'm not the most patient person. Also the ball head would unscrew if I panned it CWW. I suspect I got a defective ball head because I followed the instructions to the letter on how to tighten the ball head to the tripod. Next I bought the Hog Saddle kit. When I got my rifle on target and let go of my rifle it would alway sag upward about 10 degrees. At first I thought it was a the SunwayFoto ball head sagging. As ball heads are know to sag to some degree. I then started troubleshoot the source of the movement and I removed the saddle and mounted a Shadow Tech Arca Swiss rail to the bottom of my rifle and then tightened it down in the SunwayFoto ball head locking plate. I had the same problem -- I'd let go of my rifle and the rifle would immediately drift vertically off target about 10 degrees. I found out the Shadow Tech Arca Swiss plate rocked up and down vertically in the SunfotoWay ball head locking plate even then locked down as tight as it would go without breaking it. I notified SunwayFoto and Hog saddle of the tolerance mismatch problem which is mixing third party products to create a kit. So I finally bit the bullet and ordered the Really Right Stuff (RRS) TFCT/Anvil-30 tripod kit which was $1,483 along with two RSS M-LOK Arca Swiss plates. I am very pleased with this setup. It locks my rifle down its in like a vice. I can put my cross hairs on target and let go of my rifle and it doesn't move -- I finally found what I was looking for. Hopefully someone gets some helpful information out of this information.

Thanks for watching. The RRS is the SOAR Mark 2 with anvil 30. The shorter legs. Should have went with the longer ones...hindsight is always 20/20.
