  • In this video I compare two hunting tripods: The Primos Tripod and the Bog Pod Tripod.
    I have used both tripods hunting white tail deer, mule deer, hogs, etc.
    I like both of the tripods, but if I were to sum up my review:
    Primos:
    Pros:
    Great for quick shooting with a rifle.
    Great for quickly adjusting the height of your rifle in the field
    Very Sturdy to hold a rifle. I've taken 3 white tail with this all in a spot and stalk situation.
    Cons:
    It's too long. It is not good if you are going to hike/backpack with it. It's much longer than any pack and will hit on brush and limbs if in the woods.
    It is not good for glassing. You have to purchase an aftermarket camera mount and the connection that comes with it is already not sturdy, so it is easy to lose game and stay on game with binoculars or a spotting scope.
    Bog Pod:
    Pros:
    It is very lightweight.
    It works great fitting on a backpack. It's perfect for western hunts / mountain hunting.
    It works great for glassing. Extremely sturdy and you can stay on your game.
    Cons:
    It doesn't have a middle telescoping pole like most tripods, so you have to adjust the legs. With that said the legs do spread very wide, so it actually isn't too much of an issue, but it's worth noting.
    It doesn't have the quick adjustable "up and down" like the Primos does for quick shots in the field.

    Primos is best for stalking /still hunt. You find the positions quickly than the other model (a “normal photo tripod”: three locks each indipendent leg ). this is my humble opinion 👍🍻

      Yes sir. I agree with you there! That quick up and down action of the primos is awesome.

      Thank you! I have actually upgraded since I posted this video. I went on another mule deer hunt (also on my channel) with my son this year and her got to use the bog pod and I tried out the new Tricer USA tripod and head and it was awesome. I now have an arcs Swiss plate permanently mounted to my rifle and with that tricer head I can quickly switch optics and shoot off of it. Now that hunting season is over I plan on posting a video about that.

      Which one do you specifically recommend? This was not a video of the best out there. This was a video based on two options that I slowly purchased over time.

    I returned the Bog Pod Adrenaline because the legs moved independently and didn’t didn’t lock. Have you com across another mount for glassing with binoculars since making this video? Primos makes a camera mounting plate but that’s it. Thanks comparing these two tripods!

      Are you asking about a different mount for the primos one?

    • @lukesenter
      @lukesenter  2 роки тому

      I used this one and it worked okay, but just not as stable as I would like. That one that comes with the bog pod with the little gray trigger is awesome.

      @@lukesenter Yes, a different mount for the Primos Trigger Stick Gen 3. I read a review that stated you could use the Primos mounting plate and pan with the existing grip on the Trigger Stick. I’d like to be able to use the Trigger Stick for a rifle test and as a tripod for a pair of high power binoculars or a spotting spoke. I don’t know how practical that is or if I should buy a tripod just for glassing. Thanks for the reply!

      @@archstanton9703 sounds good! For me it just purely depended on what and where I am hunting. If I am hunting in the west and it’s wide open, I use the bog pod. It’s better for glassing and I’ll have more time to get my rifle ready, but when I’m hunting whitetail in north Texas… it’s more wooded and if I’m stalking or sneaking around the woods I don’t need to glass and I have to make quick shots which is where that quick adjustment on the primos comes in number one in that application! Good luck on this years hunt!

    They make a short 😂😂

      @lukesenter  2 роки тому

      I am assuming you’re saying that primos makes a short one? And yes… they do, but I want one that can be tall or short and the primos is not good for glassing. Only good for shooting.

      @@tngo54 good deal! It really so great for spot stalking. The fact of being able to raise and lower so easily just by squeezing the trigger is worth it. Let me know how it goes!

      @@tngo54 yep! I’ve got the mono and let’s just say last year I was aiming for a heart shot and got him in the neck! Hahaha! I should have missed and got lucky. My brother decided to come hunt with me and so I gave him the tripod thinking he’s get all the action, but I ended up getting the action with the mono pod, but with a terrible shot. Oh well… still a dead deer!
