Hi! Can we use present and future verbs in main clause when we talking about two action happening at the same time by same man , or does this this structure only use with past tense in main Clause. Sitting on the bed , she reads books( present indefinite) all the day. Sitting on the bed , she read books.( past indefinite) Sitting on the bed , she will read books.( future)
The structure is usually used in the past tense. But I don't see a reason why it can't be used in other tenses. She is watching TV, comfortably lying on the sofa. So, the suggestion would be to move the participle phrase to the end
Thank for your excellent teaching. But I have a doubt about You guys is a right usage or not. Could please explain it once again using you guys should work hard etc.
It's an appositive structure where 'guys' gives a name to the pronoun 'you'. In Hindi, we often use the phrase 'Tum log'. Here, the first word (tum) is a pronoun and the second (log) is an appositive (noun): you people.

Hello.. I am from Indonesia. I have only one question. There is a sentence in your video " you guys are intresting " My question is how we differentiate the condition when present participle plays a role as a VERB and an Adjective? Because when we put "to be" before present participle, it becomes a VERB right? How if i say "They are running".. ? Running is the verb and "are" is the auxiliary. But why when you say "you guys are interesting" Interesting play a role as an anjective and aotumaticly "are" is no longer the "auxiliary" but now it is a "linking Verb" Correct me if i am wrong.

Most Revered sir, being the greatest grammarian of all time on this planet, you are earnestly entreated with folded hands to let me know if the following sentences can be written in different ways, keeping the meaning intact. For Example --(A) Listening to her favourite song, she cooked her food.Sir, can it be rewritten this way --She cooked her food, listening to her favourite song.(B) Seeing the police, the thief ran away. Can i rewrite it in the following way --The thief ran way, seeing the police.Similarly--Seeing the Headmaster coming, the students entered the room (The students entered the room, seeing the Headmaster coming).
sir i am surprised? sir, please make a detail video on participle working as noun, and verb. sir, i have never listened participle can work as noun and verb. sir they are adjective then how can they?
When a verb ending with ING works as a noun, we call it a GERUND, not a participle. Watch my lessons on gerunds.
@@EnglishWithAshish thanks. ok sir, i know about gerund that why i have asked this question.
@@EnglishWithAshish . sir what do you do by profession? you are teacher or UA-camr.
i am fan of you sir.... sir you help me a lot.
you always teach us advanced structures.
Yes, I'm an English teacher. Thank you for the kind words!
Thank you brother
You're welcome, brother! 🌸
Hello teacher. You help me a lot. Thank you so much.
Could you please give me more verbs of perception? Wich we use in this way:
I have seen Jack listening to music.
Can I use " sleep "?
I saw her sleeping on the floor.
Please give me some more verbs 🙏😊😍
Thanks.
Thank you for the kind words! Please watch the lesson on stative verbs!
It's available on the channel. 😊
Please help me understand when p.p takes position in the beginning will it be named as adjective or adverb
It's not the position that decides whether it'll work as an adjective or adverb, it's what it does in the sentence.
Small doubt bro ...We are good friends or we are the good friends which is right ?
We are good friends. THE is not needed.
But,SIR, walking stick here walking is used as gerund ,and it's compound noun according to wren and marten book, so ,SIR, why teaching job is here (teaching) used as participle not gerund how can we identify them?
WALKING too is a present participle here as it modifies the noun stick.
Thanks a lot
Happy to help!
Thank you soooooooooooooo much!!! 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
You're welcomeeeeeee! 💕
Sir you taught in your previous video that if v+ing come after preposition that is gerung.and now you are saying that present participle in" after seeing teacher, students got silent."
No doubts bro only likes he will give
Hello teacher. Sorry, I have a question:
Can we use all verbs in the present participle form as an adjective?
I think we cannot use all verbs with ING ending to form an adjective.
Am I correct?
Thanks 🙏👌
There are MANY verbs. I believe most of them can be used as a participle.
@@EnglishWithAshish Thanks, sir.
Hello.. I am from Indonesia. I have only one question.
There is a sentence in your video " you guys are intresting "
My question is how we differentiate the condition when present participle plays a role as a VERB and an Adjective? Because when we put "to be" before present participle, it becomes a VERB right?
How if i say "They are running".. ?
Running is the verb and "are" is the auxiliary.
But why when you say "you guys are interesting"
Interesting play a role as an anjective and aotumaticly "are" is no longer the "auxiliary" but now it is a "linking Verb"
Correct me if i am wrong.
Hello, Gilbert!
It's a great question.
Some verbs don't ING forms. INTEREST is one of those verbs. So, when you see these verbs in ING verbs, they more than often work as present participles (adjectives).
There is no hard and fast rule to find it out. Hope this helps! :)
@@EnglishWithAshish Thank you 😁👍

Dear teacher first i appreciated you iam confused some present participles for example:clapping his hands, the singer sang happily.
The singer sang happily clapping his hands. What is the difference.
Hello, Yasin!
A tip for you: always keep your modifiers close to the word or words they modifiers.
@@EnglishWithAshish dear ashish firs excuse me i'm confused some participles for examle :
convinced that the draft would be improved,he decided to consult his friends.
He was convinced that the draft would be improved.
He decided to consult his friends.
Cause or Time .
Second question
Hoping to find the book she searched everywhere. Please help Cause Or Time.
@@EnglishWithAshish What is the difference between these two sentences? Do they have the same meaning?
I found the man sleeping.
I found him sleeping.
Damn amazing.
Thank you! 🌸
Watching TV entertains us.. Watching is put before noun t. V.. So plz tell whether it is getting or adjective
It's a noun. 'Watching TV' is the noun phrase (subject).
Thanks a lot.. Bt can it work as a participle or gerund
It's a gerund phrase only, Riya. You need to watch my lessons on gerunds, present participles, gerund phrases, and present participle phrases. You seem to have problems with identifying them.
Yaa.. I will.. Bt thanks again
Love you a lot guru g
I am om
Love you too, Om!
Many innocent people died in the burned train ?? what about this one its wrng or right or giving a another mean ??
Grammatically, no. But I'd use an adjective clause to define the train: Many people died in the train that was burnt.
@@EnglishWithAshish great thank you sir
Seeing this, it does not seem to have been hit six sixes on its six balls.
(Isko dekhkar lagta nahi ki iski cha balls (6balls) per cha chakke(sixes) maare ha )
Sir...the sentence which I translated into English that one is correct....
Its six ball (isme its ku aaya his hona chaheye tha na)
Please guide me sir
Seeing him, I didn't think he would get hit 6 sixes in 6 balls.
Lov u sir
Much love! ❤️
Small doubt ...You said that some times we use present participle as object complement .. Complement means rename or modify ...Ok ...I saw you watching the movie ..In this sentence you said watching the movie is complement and it modifying you ..In my perception watching the movie is short form of when you were watching the movie ..And it modified the verb saw not you ...Please clarify it to me clearly
I saw you in a state (watching a movie). It's referring to a state, in my opinion. That's how I look at it.
@@EnglishWithAshish thank you Ashish

Sir,
Helping the poor - manner of the adverb
Can't we say he spent his whole life helping the poor (why did not we write BY HELPING THE POOR)
As it's not needed. Don't look at it from a perspective of a Hindi speaker. You can't mix these two languages.
The man singing is my cousin. The singing man is my cousin. Both are grammatically correct. The meaning is the same. So what is the difference?
Not much
I have never seen a man working as hard as him.
Does it need to be "I have never seen a man who has worked as hard as him".OR " who is working"
Plz explain.
Hey, Ashwin!
The participle phrase is a reduced adjective clause. So, the sentence you made is correct too.
whay is the diff between these two sentences mentuoned below?
1, he spent his life helping the poor
2. he spent his life by helping the poor.
The first is correct. The preposition is not needed here
@@EnglishWithAshish but how we can know that where preposition is needed or not? Plz elaborate in detail plz
With listening to the language and reading it more
Bhaiya I saw her going there.is sentence me going kya hay kiyu hay aur iska use clearly samjha dona please 🙏🙏🙏
1) it started with people eating unusual food.
2) it started by people eating unusual food.
Now, which one is Gerund and which one is present participal.
Both are participle phrases.
His hands were strong cutting the trees.
What is the function of"cutting"here.
It's quite an odd statement to make.
We use a participle phrase when the main clause has an action verb in it, and we always keep it close to the noun it modifies.
Your sentence misses both of them.
Is it apposite to write like
"After the girl had got her result, she started crying"
rather than writing
"After the girl got her result, she started crying"
?????
Thats not the best use of tenses. It has to be in simple past tense.
Isn't participle works as a verb?
Participles work as adjectives. They work as verbs too.
@@EnglishWithAshish thanks.I knew all the continuous forms are present participle
1)Sir! Chilla rahe vyakti ko koi dikkat hai( man shouting has some problem)
2)Dharna de rahe logo ko peeta gaya.(people protesting were beaten off)
3). Sabji bech rahe logo ko roka gaya( people selling fruits were stopped)
Sir kya inki angrezi or hindi theek hai? Please bhut comfusion hai btadijiye. Lag to yahi raha hai par confident nahi hu.
These are alright, dost.
Use THE before the noun to make it specific.
The man shouting has some problems.
@@EnglishWithAshish thanks sir. Or iska passive me being+ verb3rd form me lagega? Right sir?
1.Being stood first in the class, he was congratulated.
2. Being felt hungry, he ate food.
3. Being murdered, the thief was sent to jail.
( which wrong)
And how to correct it.
The first two are incorrect.
There are 3 more situations when participle is used eg Condition etc.
There is no Indian video on that. I learnt from natives.
I would be glad to learn them. Please share if you could! It'd be helpful for everyone.
Will you upload video today ??
No. Tomorrow.
Are you uploading a video now ???
I'm out of the city. Had an emergency situation here. Sorry!

Yes. In a couple of hours. Sorry for the delay!

Does present participal phrase here represent result of the action of the main verb. Or something else is the sense.
They seem to be doing it.
But they are used to focus on the noun (subject). My suggestion is keep them close to the noun they modify.
Can I say having looked at the results, she started crying.
That makes perfect sense. 👏
@@EnglishWithAshish thank you for your reply.
You're welcome!
What is "having looked" here? Is it perfect gerund?
Present participle phrase
Can I say not having known me,he slept me.
Absolutely!
Not knowing who I was, he slept me? or Not knowing who I was, he slapped me?
Second, with a period at the end.
