M2K was playing really bad. Ally completely outplayed him. I'm so tired of people shouting nerf when a Melee top tier doesn't win in PM.
He used 5 different characters. Ally himself has acknowledged that Ike is potentially the bsst character. The side b cancel is just so unfair, it has good range both hitbox and movement wise, it can be canceled into itself, and it allows for escapes and shiled pressure through its, you guessed, ability to be cancelled.

Still come back to watch this set sometimes.

Well it's like in Ike's game where you can drop only him not with his friends to battle and he completely wrecked everyone else in battlefield :) He definitely took a whole army by himself.

M2K and Ally both agreed that Ike is overpowered. As a matter of fact, M2K and Ally, before the match started, were talking about how OP Ike is.
M2K needs to shut up with that bullshit because he only played Meta Knight in Brawl.
TheLuminousBanana He actually quit Brawl because he hated it so much. Really, I wouldn't count anything that has happened in Brawl. And at least he doesn't exclusively play Fox in Melee.
Generalmew30 And where exactly have we heard that Ally said that Ike was OP? From M2K? The dude always talks out of his head whenever he loses or almost loses to a character he doesn't have good experience facing. Hell, he'd call Charizard OP if he fought one that knew the Fox MU as well as his patterns. Instead of johning about how Ike is OP (which he isn't), he should have stuck to his Fox and adapted to Ally's playstyle. Especially after saying that Ike was OP *right after* the GF was over.
Generalmew30 He quit brawl because he is focusing in 4 he doesn't hate it at all....
I think M2K was saying Ike's OP because at some point all of us turn into salt mines when we play Smash Bros.

I don't know about Brawl, but in Smash 4 he seems slow at first, but when you actually know how to handle him, Ike can be surprisingly fast.

John Smith I know... I was just comparing to show that he is in fact a surprisingly fast character despite the appearance, in the Smash series in general, although I am not sure if he is as fast in Brawl as he is in PM and Sm4sh since I've barely played Brawl.

He feels really slow in Smash4 (besides his Nair) but I was talking about how in PM he looks almost as fast as Marth. I should have probably specified that I meant the speed of his attacks.

Proyect M looks sooo much better than brawl, not only in presentation, and graphics but also in speed. It's quite hard thinking that this is running on a nintendo wii that came out like in 2006, 9 years ago

gameplorer2000 Maybe just because most Brawl footage on UA-cam is because of the older capture cards of the time, or the colours are better controlled with newer capture cards as well.

watching this almost 3 years later and I still feel the hype and tension. Wish smash 4 had this feeling consistently, but it is just to slow of a game and there are just to many Bayo's. Wish PM was still popular in smash :(
It's super interesting to see these two players (a 4 player and a Melee player) both employing strategies and techniques from 4 and Melee respectively to try to beat each other. Amazingly cool.

No one knows. The Melee uploads are also using Smash 4 portraits.

Ike is really good, and I think top 10 or top 5 in pm. But why does M2K always automatically assume it's the character, because in this case Ally just really knows what he's doing.
I don't believe M2k thinks Ike is broken. Simply because if he did, he would be using him. That is how players like him and ZeR0 roll.
Why use broke Ike when you can use broke Fox?
BloodLegaZ He is just saying that ike is broken because he thinks the PMDT overnerfs characters that are complained about, so if he complains, he thinks Ike will be neutered.

I wish Ike was this fluid in Sm4sh. He moves like a sack of bricks that occasionally gets fired out of a cannon.
Why do they use the player 3 and 4 slots instead of player 1 and 2?
+VictorsMod You just plug the controller into whatever slot is more convenient. Sometimes there's still a controller on the setup, slot 4 is closer, w/e. The only effect the slots have on gameplay are the order they're in, which is negligible, so it doesn't really matter.

+VictorsMod just so you know when u fight a snake chose port 4 as snake can do some extra things with grenades of he gets lower port priority.

In the last game, when he says Ally did a quick dosie-do to get M2K to the other side of the stage, he actually means Ally did a Quickdraw > Jump Cancel > Pivot Grab > Back Throw. Just take a moment to think about that

I hate Ike so goddamn much. His moves are all strong finishers that are easy to time and have ridiculous range/hitbox sizes, he has incredible recovery with his side B and up B, and he's just faster than he needs to be. He's just a faster, more reliable Dedede.

His recovery isn't that great. The only annoying thing is the armor (which is gone in 3.6b). Otherwise you have Side-B which is easy to intercept (if they do the Side-B attack, they stop moving forward and go into helpless and only a wall jump will prevent special fall) and Up-B which needs Ike to get in range of the ledge first.
Dedede has a far superior recovery that is borderline immune to gimping no matter what direction he's sent. He also has a projectile. that functions as an anti-projectile against other people.

Why did they take away, his armor? He needs it for his up B. And his F-smash takes a century compared to other characters.

You know, Ally seems really chill and he never has salt, so I like him for that reason. However, as an Ike main, he plays like a total dickweed. He doesn't go for any follow-ups and spams forward air, which is not fun to watch by any stretch of the imagination. It's sad because Ike has a TON of potential for combos, and he never takes advantage of them. He also only plays Ike. I personally play Mewtwo and Falco, and I'm nowhere near as good as him, but I'd like to see some more variety in his character choice and his gameplay in general, because I really want to like him as a player. Sadly, I found myself rooting for everyone Ally played against :/
TriforceofJacob I'm pretty sure people who play multiple characters don't do it just to make viewers like them. It's about covering bad match-ups or otherwise staying unpredictable to their opponent. But that doesn't mean character specialists are wrong. Especially in Project M where so many characters are so good and have so much potential.Also how do you define F-air spam?
I don't think Ally is doing anything wrong, per se, I just think he's really boring to watch, which is a shame, because I love Ike. I also take back what I said about spamming Fair, he just kind of throws it out a lot and never does anything really interesting. I was only pointing out that I don't like to watch him play, not that he's a bad player. He's a FANTASTIC player.
Well, if f-air is such a strong option that Ike players are forced to rely on it too much (to the point of winning a tournament with such a tactic), then we might see an adjustment to that particular move in PM 3.6. I agree that it's boring to watch, but think of Ally being forced to use such a boring tactic simply because it's one of Ike's winning tactics :|

I don't know about Ally, but he seems very dedicated to PM (haven't heard any of his melee scores). I mean he beat prof. pro at a tourney so him beating Mew2King seems reasonable. Not like a huge upset.

When you compare PM to regular brawl or sb4 Ike and realize how important landing lag is for heavy characters. Old meta rediscovered.
Still kinda new to competitive Smash.
I see Ally using Ike's f-air very often while fast falling/ short hopping. I wonder if he's doing the fairs with the right stick or the left one. As far as I can see it, doing it with the right one would be more easy and efficient to execute, since you can just hold the left stick down at the same time to fall faster, but maybe I'm wrong.
I'd appreciate any help.
I don't give a shit if this comment is 8 years old. Fast falling with aerials is always better when using the c-stick since you can control your mobility with the control stick at the same time as you're doing aerials. People tend to play claw because of this. You can even use the Z button to do neutral airs, making it easier to play claw. You probably know all of this now, but I couldn't just stand idly by as someone waits 8 years for assistance
