Thank you for the video and congrats on the promotion!
Although I think showing instances in which other players have achieved tsumo or ron first, as you have done in your videos, already displayed enough of the variance in mahjong, I don't mind watching the games you lost as long as there is something to learn.

As always your videos have some good reference.
Since watching yours my gameplay was better
My defense got new record touching 84 (although come down again after dramatic win)
And somehow I'm more enjoying mahjong.
But still maybe I'm was to hard gambler so kinda selfish in completely 180° than you when executing some moves.

Congratz! Btw at 6:24 any reason you decided on continuing dama? The hand can't be improved any further and riichi guarantees haneman, I would think it was an obvious riichi. Also just curious how did you get into riichi mahjong?

Yup the decision to dama was a mistake by me. I was thinking that nobody would throw 36p because they are both tiles near the dora. But you are right, I should have just riichi'd.
Played SG mahjong for a while before the pandemic, but couldn't play SG mahjong in real life after the pandemic hit. Then I found out about Riichi mahjong after watching Akagi and playing the Yakuza 0 Riichi mahjong minigame. I also found out about Mahjong Soul because I wanted to play SG mahjong with my friends but I couldn't find a good online client, so we decided to play on the first online client for mahjong we found (which was Mahjong Soul).
They all dropped the game after a while cuz they preferred SG mahjong, but I preferred (and still prefer) Riichi because I felt it was more fair and balanced than SG mahjong.
I also found out that my university has a Riichi mahjong club (which I joined) and I got the chance to meet many fellow Riichi players in SG, and join their community! Very thankful for that

im curious how come at 13:40 you started breaking the 345m instead of just tossing the 1p? (altho its funny thats what caused the other person to ron) Came from your recent reddit post, your vids are really nice to watch!

At that point in time 1p wasn't safe. I'm too far from tenpai and will need to push too many dangerous cards if I want to fight, so it's a definite fold for me.
I threw 1p afterwards only because I could see 3x 2p (it's less likely that he wants 1p due to one-chance).

I wish I was good in Mahjong. Silver Players keep taking my copper.

I have a different problem where I waste my copper on items for bond and then lose the last on my random lose streaks.

So how much % luck and skill is 3 player Mahjong? :)

No idea, but it's pretty much gambling after a certain point

It's easier at first, but things are getting very tricky when you reach upper rooms. Tactics are essentially the same, but should be adjusted according to available tiles. Honitsu and chinitsu are much more common, for example. Kita adds another layer of strategy. Wait on North is extremely powerful (and funny). At the same time, North is great for defense. Most of times you just want value though. Normally, mangan is minimum you want to push, although cheap hands may be good to prevent big tsumo by opponent. Deal-in rate in 3-player mode is higher, but it's higher because of lesser number of players. Good defense still greatly reduce deal-in losses.
Percentage of skill actually depends on your skill. At some point you are likely to reach players with equal skill and it becomes 100% luck. It's true in standard 4-player mahjong too.
