Great death-thrash. One of my favorite albums of all time! I noticed it wasn't uploaded on here in full and I felt it deserved to be.
I’m genuinely enamored by Rob’s vocal style, it’s like something between Phil Anselmo and Chuck Schuldiner.
Incubus "beyond the unknown"
Death thrash is the perfect mix of genres imo.
Finally someone who understands
I think their second album is better
we can all agree prog death metal needs to die?
@@carpal08 umm no I disagree lol
YES OF COURSE

Rob Barrett, Brett Hoffman (RIP), Rodney Dunsmore, Martin Van Drunen and Steve Reynolds ; Lesser known but highly revered Vocalists of the Old School Death-Thrash Metal. One of the best Metal Sub-genre. In Thrash and Death Metal, bands with real talent are always non commercial and almost unknown.
One of the best drum performances ever.
No kidding.
The fucking POWER of every snare and bass drum hit!
Alex Marquez
Just focus on bass drum, this is unreal how it' s precise, machine gun fire. The whole album is a killing machine, mixing death, thrash and hardcore flow.
No pro tools. The real shit right here.
I was kinda thinking that... this wasn´t even recorded to a metronome, which I prefer just a THOUSAND times! Like you said, the real deal here.
Crystal Logik the drums are marvelous
@Crystal Logik i feel like the drums are perfect for this album
Dude your profile picture, I downloaded the same bunch of backing tracks. Definitely did me good as I only ever played in e before depending on tuning
no pro tools really? you dont think them drums are edited yea right
Still have this gem on cassette anything with members of Malevolent Creation is top shelf
Still have it on cassette too! Along with many other classics from the same time frame!
Fuck malevolent Solstice was the shit
Sound like a cross between Destruction and Malevolent Creation and I love it.
And also reminds me of Death at times.
I lost my virginity to this!My sister said if we chuck this album on it would make the occasion more special!
What a minute?
Aww Frank, did you marry her?
Wait hold up
Power of Morrisound! What a great band!
Highly underrated album ! Today with social media this album would have been a huge success.
Not sure about that, considering the relatively "small" success of world class quality death/thrash like:
Rapture - Paroxysm of Hatred /2018
Inculter - Fatal Visions /2019
Detherous - Hacked to Death /2019
Schizophrenia - Voices (EP) /2020 (!!!!!)
Not really... Name any metal band that made it huge off social media
Quite the opposite imo, because of the time this was released, Solstice are considered one of the frontrunners of deaththrash (after maybe Morbid Saint, Kreator and Sarcofago). Had this been a 2000s release, it wouldn't have had half the impact it had
Everyone overlooks the drumming from Alex. He is a beast! One of the best in the world.
Alex was the drummer on Malevolent Creation Retribution best album.
By boy Kelly Ross draw up the bands logo.
Great album! Anyone who likes Malevolent Creation will definitely dig this!
thats why Rob barret from cannibal corpse and malevolent creation play guitar and do vocals in the album. only if you dont know. Sorry my english too JAJAJJA
Rob Barret is a fucking legend. If Gary Holt is the riff master of thrash, then Rob has to be the riff lord of death metal!
..plus his awesome testosterone overcharged vocals!
💯💯💥
@@Reizk_ *Hahahahaha
The S.M.D cover from Carnivore is awesome!
And also R.I.P Peter Steele, you are and will be an musical legend forever.
Death/Thrash to the core. Awesome Lp and obviously amazing Artwork by Maestro Ed Repka! ☄️
The rhythms on this album have amazed me since my first listen years ago in high school. That vocal style is so harsh but sincere, can't get enough of it.
I used to work at a college radio station back in the day and this album and Desultory's Into Eternity promos came into the station at the same time. I always associate the two because it was just such a powerful one-two punch.
Desultory are highly underrated
Best Death thrash album ever made, when a side project with top notch players turns out better than any band you’ve ever been in
Im a punk rocker through and through and I like metal but im not a metal head... this is by far one of the best (if not THE best) crossover thrash records Ive ever heard! This is so fucking good! ...AND recorded in 92?!? Solstace fucking rules!!! I heard about this album while learning more about cannibal corpse. On behalf of all punks, the metal heads are the closet thing to allies that we have and i hope the metal community feels the same. And when i say punk i dont mean bullshit radio bands like blink 182... if anything the metal community has done a WAY better job at keeping their scene legit. Punk has sold out WAY more than metal. As a die hard skate punk, im jealous. I wish our scene was as pure as the meyal scene
well buddy, punk has influenced the New wave of british Heavy Metal, and hardcore punk had big influence on thrash metal.. most early thrash legends keep discharge with "hear nothing see nothing say nothing" in very high regards.. in the late 70s and early 80s before thrash evolved, punk music was the hardest shit you could find, way faster and more chaotic then metal. I am a big fan of the "punky" thrash metal Bands like Vio-lence, Sacred Reich, Nuclear Assault etc....
There is a LOT of mainstream "metal" stuff aswell, talking Bands like Bring me the Horizon, Cradle of filth, Slipknot, Bullet for my Valentine..... or even Nightwish and that symphonic metal stuff. a lot of Bands that you DONT want to check out
@@faultier3215 It always hurts my brain when I see Cradle Of Filth quoted as "mainstream" or "commercial". Obviously they've become popular, and their music is fairly welcoming, but I would say that's essentially a consequence of their unique and inspiring vision of gothic black metal. They're really good at what they do (this goes for Nightwish as well of course).
Now I can very well understand that their theatrical style wouldn't be everyone's cup of tea but if you can't respect the level of artistry and musical excellence they achieved then I guess you're stuck with only liking metal in its basic form. Which is a shame because metal is an extraordinarily creative scene that's able to foster almost any mix of influence you can think of. See here, perfect blend. ;-)
@@Wyndorel I like a wide variety of Metal, beginning from Black Sabbath over NWOBHM, most of all 80s thrash, wjere I am a huge nerd. I got soem knowledge over late 80s/early 90s DM and BM roots, I love Prog like Opeth and PPT, when I am in the mood I sometimes listen to some Folk/Pagan Stuff, I am a huge fan of Post Metal such as Isis/Neurosis/Amenra or Cult Luna. I like Stoner/Psychedlic Rock, I like Doom, I like funeral doom. I am 30 years old and I am listening to Metal for pretty much half my life now. Cralde of Filth is bad.
@@faultier3215 grunge mainly minus alice in chains they are metal.
For me punk rock is a shitsmelling cunt.
Students and flagwaver musik.
We got a couple of real good punk musik called deutsch punk here.
Not Trash like Ärzte or Hosen, try Toxoplasma, Razzia or versaute Stiefkinder, to count a few, but there are much more....
I am 43 years old. I have been into metal and extreme metal since I was 13 years old. How did I miss this band? I had never heard them before today. I loooooooooove them.
and now I have been listening to this on repeat for 18 hours. I need medical help, I like this so much
Another hidden gem- INCUBUS - death metal- amazing - just found them!!!
Perfect hangover album
The guitar and drum work on this is impeccable. It should have gained much more recognition than it did.
I was 13 years old when firstly hear this album and it still demonic punchy yet aggressive ...Rob Barret Rules....Cheers from Bandung - Indonesia
Absolutely brutal. *SOLSTICE* !!!!!
Great album, Alex Marquez on drums
wow im 53 years old now this is just killer
This is simply awesome. I adore the drumstyle from Alex. I am privileged to meet him twice while he was touring Europe. He was over with Malovolent Creation. I have 2 cd's from Solstice. Really one of the best dm albums.
I remember getting this back in 92 loved it .
Who agrees with me that Repka is just a genius ???
Forgotten and ''overlooked'' album. But an incorrigible masterpiece!!! Perfect, from start to finish!
i saw thrash or die and this band at the same time and hang with them...blessed
I really regret selling this CD cause this is a real gem 💎👍❤️
As long as I've been a fan of James Murphy's work (15+ years) I can't believe I JUST discovered this band. KILLER! \m/
this might be the best thrash album ive heard this year, so good
Haha! I wasn't pleasantly surprised by the Carnivore cover. I love Carnivore!
Amazing, underrated album, with a great artwork!
2019 still listen this album
This was beyond its time.
I remember buying this at the bargain bin in a CD shop in 92. great stuff, still have it in my collection.
I’m getting tired just listening to the drummer. What a beast!
Que gran álbum!!! Suena muy catastrófico, la verdad mis respetos para esta banda titulada Solstice

I saw 'Solstice' before they were called Solstice, at the Thrash Can in Miami Beach back in 1990. Rob Barret was just growling, didn't play guitar for that show, but it was him, Dennis and Alex Marquez (of Malevolent). They covered Dethroned Emperor by Celtic Frost, it was a great set. They sounded even better later on when Rob Barret played guitar for them.
robs got a great voice on this album sounds amazing
Im twerking
Just S.M.D.! One of the greatest album ever recorded.
wooooowwww i been looking for this album since 1999.
thanks for the upload
Little Havanas finest. Miami born and raised.
My drummer told me to check them out and I'm glad I did. Its my first listen and I love it already!
his name is Alex Marquez
cannibal corpse - centuries of torment dvd, brought me here. glad this is uploaded. this is killer
Purchased this on cassette when it first was released... then again on CD at a later date. Definitely one of the all-time great Scott Burns productions!! Thanks for the upload.
Ah Scott Burns. Of course, seems like every time I re-discover another long lost thrash/death album that blows my mind, Scott Burns was behind the board. Genius.
@@life_of_riley88 BTW, In what general area are you?
Well done! Great that after so many years spent listening to death metal thanks to people sharing stuff on youtube I can still discover great old bands that I never listened to!
Same here with all these "new" discoveries.
Good call, there’s many hidden gems out there
Sick album, great upload girl!
Outstanding. Thank you so much for posting
seeing these guys monday
Awesome album! I have not heard it in, like 10 years, and there it was... Thank you for uploading this gem ❤
goddamn I cant believe I missed this one. been into this shit for decades but fate would not have us cross paths until now. ive seen the cover through the years and knew the name. goddamn, every song is a fucking smasher and catchy as hell. I feel cheated I wasn't able to have been inspired by this when I wrote my own stuff. the riffing is exactly my cup of tea. even though I was doing the grindcore thing I feel like a lot of the feel that the most brutal parts have would fit right in. Reminds me a lot of the first couple malevolent creation records.
Thanks for this great album, I enjoy the most
badass album, very thrashy and I love it.
yes. so low riff but its only very good thing..
Thanks for sharing this killer album!! Keep posting great music! You've got great taste in music \,,/,

Rob Barrett is on vocals with this right?
yes
vocals and guitar fuck yeah
Yep.
Wow wudnt have know rob did this.
Very good shit
Yea. So good
ah i love this aggressive, punchy sound, reminds me demolition hammer, even when solstice sound almost florida death metal production wise... the sound is more thrashy... great, a shame they only had 3 albums out
Luemm3l dude everyone talks about how punchy this record is and its so true! But nobody is recognizing the fact that this was recorded to tape! 1992, right?? Tampa is where gnarly metal was finally figured out how to record this stuff by compressing the shit out of it which is how so many albums are recorded today, but everything is digital. Getting this sound with a tape machine is insane!
killer album and great cover ;) 🤘
Yeaaaaaaaah, Florida death metal rules
Fuck you
LLѺRSHAÐOШEÐ what's up ? fuck you and your entire family tree lol
FloridaDeathEater Nobody care about your Florida lol

Capt Spaulding your not looking hard enough then
Billy Carlisle Any recommendations?I'm always looking for something new.Maybe I'm a little bias, growing up with these band and all.
Capt Spaulding notice how he didn't reply.......): I'm just as interested as you man I know there's a bunch of bands in the bay area and southern California just hard to find their stuff unless your there ya know but ascended dead is sick check them out skelelthol also rude is another badass band
