I'd say SMT V has similar frame rate to a pokemon game but it has better graphics and nowhere near as much pop-in, so slightly better for performance but not perfect

It's not that people don't like the entirety of the game. Majority of people I saw said that "Gameplay is great while story is bad" and I do agree with that statement. Compared to other SMT games, the amount of customizing and options in terms of gameplay in V is insane however they downgraded the story given that they can create great stories in my opinion for the SMT series like Digital Devil Saga, Devil Survivor 1, Strange Journey or SMTIV (not apocalypse).
shin megami tensei is like pokemon, but well done, with mechanics, a gameplay in which you have to use your neurons and not stay in a vegetative state pressing the same button all the time till you finish te game
That's a shame because competitive Pokemon is very good but the games are so lame and easy that people don't even make use of half of the moves because you can just win by spamming the same atk every time
