Fun fact: fictional serial killers are usually way cooler than actual serial killers.
Actual serial killers are rarely these excentric and highly intelligent psychopaths like Hannibal Lecter, Patrick Bateman or John Kramer.
Often they are of mediocre intelligence and fraught with various mommy issues and experience with being traumatized by sexual molestation and child abuse.

I can't be the only one to have noticed this. With the advent of the internet the words, grammar, and syntax "lost in the pond" for the English language has started to re-coalesce. It's also, seemingly become easier to mimic each others dialect to a much greater degree of authenticity. Count Dankula has helped me perfect my impression of the Scottish dialect of where he is from.
Your statement holds true and would be an interesting spot of study for etymology.

The British wanted to differentiate the way they talk from us at the time, when we all sounded incredibly similar. Then the South during the Civil War, they began to lean in heavy on the "southern draw" in on the open and drawn out vowels.

They could have had several serial killers in the 1800s and early 1900s, but they didn't know what a serial killer was until the 1930s off memory. So 100 murders could of been the victim of 3 people but they wore looking for 100 killers. They couldn't Imagine 1 person killing more than 1 person. America knew about them since the 1700s. My bet is he threw himself in the Clyde and never came back up. The heat was on and his description was everywhere so it was only a matter of time that the net would close, especially as his favourite hunting ground was very much closed to him so to avoid capture, he took his own life.
But the more fun theory is he probably was the son of a wealthy family and left the country shortly after. Now if only someone with the resources could cross reference the births of such wealthy and connected sons and see who left Glasgow at the time the murders stopped and if any similar murders occurred where ever these sons settled.
Or, and hear me out...He was a vampire with a particular taste for a certain kind of blood.

Hearing this case makes me genuinely think if he was a serial rapist who turned to murder when his victims were on their period as it would enrage him. We like to think we're more enlightened than the Victorians and it's considered rather poor taste to go and stare at someone with a physical deformity or laugh at developmentally challenged people in this day and age. But serial killers are fair game, because they're for all intents and purposes the guy next door, to varying degrees, but also very broken. This also what makes them terrifying.

Women are attracted to serial killers because men capable of violence triggers something primal in them. They instinctually see them as capable protectors who can kill threats to the family unit. In the relative safety of modern society they don't see other men hunt often and they definitely don't see them fight off threats, so this feeling of attraction to violence is something they don't often get to feel.
It's the same reason they instantly lose interest in a man they see lose a fight or cry in front of them.
