Looks interesting! WW2 xcom seems like it could be a very popular idea, and the execution looks slick!

Silent Storm was the original WW2 X-Com. Great old title.

You should check out a great old title called Silent Storm, with its sequel Silent Storm Sentinels, on GOG.
It lacks the overarching strategy aspect, i.e. there's no base-building, but it's as X-Com as it gets otherwise. Story missions interspersed with random encounters. Excellent combat and RPG mechanics, fun map destruction, some hilarious alternate-history shenanigans towards the end. Even the graphics are pretty good, for how old it is.
To clarify, it's classic X-Com, not new XCOM. TUs and everything. So enter with caution. But it's very fun.

    - "Heroes of WW2"
    - no Russian language support
I mean, I get why. Russians can't buy games on Steam at the moment.
    But still.
Could've at least gotten text translations.
