Those 700 pieces laying around getting dusty would be awesome product samples. Take them to fine dining halls , restaurants, parties and really push them she would get orders. Take them to big stadiums with box seating and give them 3 and check back in after their next game. That's the kind of tenacity it takes. She states she's a sales person but I don't see that as completely forthright. Anyone can sell to someone who's looking for something (ie a car) but to sell someone something they don't know they needed takes skill. I think she is confusing basic with extraordinary in doing so being a huge disservice to herself.
A lot of these "entrepreneurs" are doing exactly that. They deliberately valuate their business at stupid levels so the sharks won't invest and they get the free exposure.
Even if you just want advertising, actually making a reasonable deal, then backing out is a better idea, as it shows you know how to value a business. It also gives the benefit that if a shark by luck happens to be a dream partner for the business you can get a good deal. In any case, nearly or none of the businesses that try that succeed long term, as advertising loses value over time, making it only good in the short term. Stopping a deal for legitimate reasons, on the other hand, such as different directions or just not working well together, shows you know what you're doing. If you are going to lie, making up something that could legitimate reason would make far more sense, as it means businesses and people are much more likely to trust you in the future.
In places where you are serving bottles of chilled white wine and champagne, its standard practice to place a folded napkin under the bucket. The condensation on the polished bucket is aesthetically pleasing whereas a tacky skin is not..

Advising is part of my job and I still hesitate when my boss asks for it, and I always always always give conservative estimates so he doesn't drop tens of millions into some pie in the sky GP that thinks their startup is worth 200x their assets.
