DO NOT GET RID OF IT!!!! That’s a classic you have there. Those piezos add a nice dimension to the bass sound. I played a stingray bass with piezos and I was like ‘OMG!’ A whole new animal.😌🎶👍🏾
I have a 5p. Picked it up used in 1996. I was 23. Same color, but with pj pickup configuration. All original. I’ll never get rid of this bass, and yes I want a blue or green one!! I agree with everything you say about this bass. It is practically a part of me. It is my favorite object!! Great review.
Johnny, I’ve been trying to get my hands on one just like yours for years, the original model with the 34” scale and the neck through design… And yours has the cool orange/amber finish, my favorite! Yeah, that’s one of my bucket list basses! Great video, Sir!
Johnny, bro, that fit is flames man you're killing the game! Bass in not my primary instrument but for 5 and 6's I always preferred Yamaha. They just feel great. The string spacing gives you room to breathe and the necks are just thin enough to be quick but still substantial and comfortable
man this really is a dream bass for me. its such an oddity. first a 6 string Jazz bass ( the pickup are closer to hum cancelling jazz pickup than humbucker, correct me if i'm wrong), and everybody know that 6 string jazz bass are a pain in the ass to found. there is only an old fender steve bailey, the old yamaha TRB and the xotic xj 1T6 ( and a few one came out of japan each year). it seem nowaday that if you really want 6 string jazz, you have to go boutique bass with fodera or Fbass. the 6 string jazz available for costumer are basically nonexistent. second is the piezo pickup. i don't think there is any brand today that do the piezo pickup thing. even boutique luthier ( sadowsky, mtd, fodera etc ) don't do it. the only bass that come close is the Thundercat signature. 6 string with piezo but emg instead of jazz and semi hollow too so not that close after all, and it really expensive. the price of a custom fodera.
Gotta love TRBs! They always sound amazing, it was the first six I ever tried to play and it blew my mind (even if I didn't really know what I was doing at the time). I just wish you let us hear more of that B string when you're showing us all these amazing 5 and 6 strings Johnny, usually you only use them as a thumbrest, but B strings need some lovin too :D Thank you so much, peace and love!
Hey mr long can you reveiw more passive basses with a great sound these active basses are very nice but us old gentleman ogs like the real sound of a bass the old stuff 🤣😉😉
Hey sir I have the exact same bass and same color even! I bought it new over 25 years ago and never regretted it. Much to my disappointment it quit producing sound last Sunday. I believe the circuit board has gone bad. Do you have an ideal as to where I could find a new one. I am heartbroken over this loss! Thanks and in thought your review was great!
Johnny, I had one of these about 4 years ago. I absolutely loved the tone and playability across the neck. Unfortunately, the total weight was just too much for me. It felt like a boulder. I was sad letting it go.
@@etpslick100 I sware it felt like 12 lbs. I could only stand for short periods of time. Granted, I am not a fitness geek. However, this felt like my rib area on side of my strap was almost compressing. And my first thought was "Ok, I'll just always sit like Anthony Jackson. However it even felt like it was cutting into my quads on the thigh. I was truly sad getting rid of it as the tone was just so balanced for many types of styles of play. And it all worked for me on one setting with the knobs (standard plucking, pick, slap and pop, soloing). Such a clean balanced tone across the entire fretboard.
Hey dude .. I had Little Richard over to do my garden at the weekend .. he lopped off the rhubarb, he lopped bamboo ! 😎

I just bought a Ibanez SR506E six string. It's a really great bass for the money, 3 band EQ, has a nice mid range setting, and Bartolini pick ups.

Thank you, Johnny--really appreciate the review, you address all the stuff I want to know!

Really nice Bass!
I had the exact same bass for about three years I loved it
Lovely hearing Johnny talking, and suddenly a snippet of trap music from the radio picking-up coming through abit after xD

Now I know where the Bass riffs came from Sinefield! Lol.
Fun fact, they used a piano with a bass effect to create that intro!
The Carvin LB76P never gets any love in the 6 string discussions, I’d love to try a trb6p but my Carvin is really hard to beat.
Ken Smith, trb,and peavey cirrus 6 string basses
Bass show !!!
Muito bom
I like the one you have on the stand, too very poor to get one, but I LIKE IT.

Frank Coklay wow! I was thinking about get one. What is the weight? Is it around 10-11lbs?🤨

Shada-Kaka!
PEE-ET-ZOH . . . much
PEE...🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣ET-ZO
Johnny have. You ever played a Roscoe Bass?
Yes ive own one of his old one
johnny, have you ever had a bad day? or do you make every day a shadakaka day?
First.
If I wanted a 6 string, I would've bought a regular guitar. Not to be a smartass but, 4 or 5, but no 6 string bass! Shadakaka Mr. Long
Right? I can't even master four, I'm definitely not interested in 5 or 6. Haha
