Magic and Bird only got to play together a few times. The tournament while they were in college, Magic's charity and the Olympic Dream Team. They had to play a qualifing tournament before the Olympics and the Olympic games. Larry's back was really bad and he actually retired after the games before the next season started. Bird didn't play a lot of minutes in the Olympics but he was actually there because Magic wanted to play with him one more time and begged him to. When Bird was out there he proved old, injured Bird was still one of the best players in the world.
I attended a few of these Magic midsummer charity games and witnessed some of the greatest creativity on a hardwood floor. If Magic and Bird had the feeble cerebral of Bron they would have definitely teammed up. But both had maniacal mentals with killer instincts of orca pods.
That charity game was cool, because it didn't matter who won. All the players got to be creative with their plays. You know Magic and Bird were doing passing drills in practice, I would have loved to have been a fly on the wall for that.
THee last part is the Dream Team. Magic, Larry, Ewing, David Robinson, Sir Charles, MJ, Pippin, Chris Mullin, Malone, Stockon, Drexler, Laettner (the college kid). Best Team Ever.
This is awesome. You should definitley check out video from the 1992 Olympic Dream Team! Magic, Bird, Barkley, Pippen, Jordan, Stockton, Malone, Ewing, and more... all on the same team, absolutely crushing everyone else on the world stage.
Who’s this? That’s Bill Walton, y’all should prolly react to him particularly defensive highlights, passing for a center, he was pretty much the real deal, just short lived cuzza injuries.
ua-cam.com/video/pHfAg72MNyg/v-deo.html Highlights from a few important Blazers and UCLA games where Walton is just dominating the games vs. the best teams. He also played with Larry Legend in Boston later but all banged up at that point.
Thanks for the lil trip down memory lane The last bit was the US Olympics...where it was really unfair to everyone else... Larry was all but used up by then... But man it was something else to watch as it happened...You just knew, this was history. Up til then. The Olympics wouldn't allow professional athletes to play in the games. Right time to be part of history if you ask me...Those two on the same team.... we wouldn't be talkin too much about goat or stats... I have a feeling we'd be jawing on the best pass, or the best 3 pointer.. Accuracy from the 30 foot range the 40 the corner.... They'd be pushing each other every game, and bustin ass....you know kinda like what we just watched, but both in their prime on the same team...
The strange inbound pass was allowed in international play but not in the nba. Haven't watched either the NBA nor international ball in a very long time, not sure if they have different rules now but they did back in 92.
I'm here to tell you... whether or not the guy on the end of the pass finished or not, Magic put 4-5 sick passes... no look, or one handed 'bullet-passes', long bounce passes, etc., EVERY night.
I always thought it was interesting that Bird and Magic had the same jersey number in college. somehow it doesn't seem like it should have been a coincidence lol.
Bird's older brother, Mark, wore #33 in high school. When he graduated Bird took the number. His attitude about working to improve and his play inspired Larry.

The nba was on the verge of dying so back in the day to promote the game they use to play a lot of exhibitions an the biggest of stars use to participate.

Two wizards with the basketball. Two of the most complete players to ever touch a basketball!

Watching Kareem, Pistol, Bird, Magic and Michael in their prime was heaven on Earth for a b-ball fan.

Magic and Bird could have been NBA champs for 10 years straight if they were on the same team.
It would have ended the NBA.
The coach had to take them out of the game cuz they were ahead by 25. Larry said, "Let them taking their beating like a man " 😅😝
I didn't knowthis charity game existed! I don't remember it! Thank you for finding it!
"Another Game, Another Game" ha ha aha ... It's The Olympics, So Yea there is More then One Game in it. ha ha ha ha ...
