This has got to be the BEST instructional video on UA-cam! Everything was covered including helpful hints. Really professional. THANK YOU!
Lot's of patience.
I for dang sure get a battery powered ratchet for this job
And glad I don’t have that console
Amazing job !
Great video
GM does the same thing, you have to remove the entire dash just to replace the evap or heater
core.
Pretty much all of the new vehicles are like this and most of the old ones are too.
There HAS to be an easier way to do this? Are you 100% certain that you can't just cut an access hole to swap the blend door, then patch that up with aluminum tape or whatever? Seems like that should be possible, also without removing the whole dash, just the center console panel and/or the glovebox.
Further, Blend Door USA's kit for that is $330? Absurd, for what it is. I have to give you props for finding someone foolish enough to put that much money into a Dodge though, but they're probably already used to it being a money pit.
No, there are no shortcuts to doing this job. The HVAC housing absolutely must be split. As far as cost goes, it is a great value when you consider the amount of future labor that will be saved from having to replace broken plastic doors multiple times.
Besides, the amount of R&D Blend Door USA has had to invest to get their product to where it is now absolutely wasn't cheap. So I wouldn't expect them to sell their product any cheaper.
