    I like how Kuala Lumpur bus terminal looks and feel like an airport. With this initiative, it does make travelling by bus in Malaysia more comfortable and encouraging.😅

    • @irfanj
      @irfanj Місяць тому +15

      Yup because the bus terminal (TBS) is not only providing buses but also a connecting/linking station for train lines. The direct trains from KLIA will transit there also so that is why it so big like an airport

    My mum came from Melaka, Melaka is one of the best places in Malaysia for foods, culture, historical and beautiful scene. One of the halal foods I can recommend you is Nasi lemak kukus ala nyonya. You can google and go there, it’s opened by Malaysian Chinese and it’s halal with Muslim workers.
    And for your information, Kedah is a state in northwest Malaysia, bordering Thailand, one of the interesting places can be found is Langkawi. I’ve been there before to Langkawi, Alor Setar(capital of Kedah) and Sungai Petani. There are famous with foods and good people with difference races. Explore more in Malaysia as Malaysian people are friendly, we are willing to help as long foreigners respect our law and Malaysian people

    OldWatch Ma, I highly suggest that you do the river cruise early at night around 8 am. Ask hotel, where the nearest point to board your river cruise so that you guys dont have to wait for Grab or taxi. For history education, you can go visit Malacca Museum, situated in wooden palace building and Admiral Zheng He museum.

    Your question "when Chinese came to Malaysia". The famous one was Admiral Zheng He (Malaysia call Cheng Ho), came to Melaka back in year 1400+. Im sure there were other many chinese traveler pass through this area earlier than this. In one of his trip Admiral Zheng He brought along Chinese pricess "Princess Han Li Po" to marry with Sultan of Malacca. Many chinese stayed in Melaka since then and marry with the local. Their descendance are known as "Peranakan" here in Malaysia.

    • @tinkerbell66666
      @tinkerbell66666 Місяць тому +7

      He was born in yunnan as Ma He. He also got arab name with title haji, can't remember. The peranakan chinese are chinese that came to malacca much much earlier, probably the 15th century & i got the impression that they are high class/related to royal families in china back then. You should try nyonya food & visit their museum.

      Hang Li Po is not princess from China, she actually high ranking officer daughter from Hui ethnic also Zheng He's adopted child. She born in China but at the age of 10-12, she follow her family migrate to malacca and married sultan because ming dynasty emperor order. Sultan give title princess to her because although they married, she just concubine to sultan so princess status is more fitting her.
      Before she marrying sultan, she live in malacca for a few years (some people said until she 15) until zheng he first arrived in malacca and she were called to guide zheng he around malacca city. Zheng he adopt her because they both hui ethnic and this make zheng he foster parent to sultan. Although my memory is not good but I still remember watching RTM 1 drama title Puteri Hang Li Po with malacca state historian guidance back in 2006.
      Most people make a mistake by claiming she is ming dynasty princess which is wrong because China never record that. So why emperor give her as present? There's actually a story about emperor want malacca to be under China influence so he send an official letter to forced sultan to be his underling but one night emperor got dream to drink water from feet washed of sultan malacca. China's prime minister said its a bad fengshui so emperor who are scared of bad sign suddenly send that officer family as present to sultan and told sultan he just want to have diplomatic trading with malacca

    Prepare itinerary beforehand, especially travelling with children and parents, and find the right balance of activities for your family, take into account the walking distance & quick access to food, spare some snacks in case of emergency or the journey may leave children and parents traumatized by exhaustion and hunger.

    actually if you go walk along the Melaka river, the one you saw outside your residence, you'd find many places to eat because there are so many restaurants and stalls open along the river especially at night. You can cross the bridge to go to another side of the river to go to the restaurants on the other side. My family and I went there and we just walked from the residence to the Melaka river since it's near. To be honest it's a little bit tiring because we have to walk until we saw some restaurants and stalls. You just need to walk until you saw a glimpse of it. You can enjoy the view and explore along the way.

      They planned to go the mosque and then jonker walk. They seem so fascinated by the sea so i can understand why the seaside mosque is a priority to visit. They must have lost track of time that it got too late and couldnt find transport to go back. It does not mean they did not do research though.

      First wave chinese came to peninsula during migration through cambodia, Thailand, etc. Second wave during Melaka Sultanate & Chinese emperor diplomacy. Malacca became world trade centre at the time. They're called peranakan or baba/nyonya. They're also merged to Borneo & Java Island. You need to try their cuisine. Silat martial arts is combination of various martial arts including from mainland. Then another wave during British occupation, the biggest one. Because the British need labour for mining.

    from my personal experience in Malacca, its a bit problematic to travel in Malacca without owning a car. Public transport are not efficient include grabcar/ehailing services. As Malacca are always congested with traffics jam, you have to wait too long. For taxis, they are willing to take you anywhere with expensive price but it also rare to find empty taxi.
    My solution was to take public bus and drop off at Melaka Sentral to get taxi from there. i think theres taxi station at different entrance door in Melaka Sentral from your video. And its a good advantage to know a personal taxi driver and save their number so that you can call in case there's no other transport options nearby. And if you want to book grab, pinpoint your drop off a bit far from your real destination (make sure you still can walk there) as ehailing usually refuse to drive to places with heavy traffic.
    looking at the hotel where you are staying, I think theres a lot of interesting places nearby that you can still visit at least by walking so I hope you will have great time in Malacca. Can't wait for your next update.

    In Malaysia,Maghrib and after 10pm are timings which are difficult to get Grab or taxis. Always bring some snacks eg nuts,dry fruits or crackers for children along and sweets(in case short of glucose). The smaller cities in Msia transportation can be challenging. Either rent a car or book a driver can bring you all around.
    Do most of your visiting during day time for ease. Night time purely for visiting night market or if at Masjid to pray stay till Isyak prayer or nearby where you stay. Malaysians do pray at surau(you can google to find surau near your location). Hope you all have a good trip.

    Hire a car that can seat all five adults and a child (either in your destination or in order to get to your destination). Trust me, it'll solve a lot of problem.
    You'll also get to cover a lot more, do a lot more, and see a lot more as compared to how you are doing it at the moment!

    3:29 I assume that is a blanket that could be used as a small mattress as well. We call it TOTO and it is kinda old product but it is useful, especially during holidays.

    Redang island are beautiful but far away. You should plan your trip since you bring along kids and your mother and father.atleast take a grab taxi which you have to use apps in phone or rent a car for days. You couldn't just go walking since the weather unexpected and consume time to go to destination

    A must visit for you would be the Masjid Cina, bother to ask about its story or history. Other time arrange for a visit to Sabah especially to its capital, there are more wow awaiting to be explored. Up after 2005 there are more students enrolling to University Malaysia Sabah. The Shantung Muslim of Sabah are the Chainese Muslim who migrated to Sabah long before Sabah get independence from British
