    If I were to get this set (bit of an advance on odometer we used on 1960s and Casio units with a magnet attached to a spoke in 1980s), it would have to pair with Garmin Instinct Solar watch and/or Samsung phone. Phone would have to show both this and Polar Heart Rate Monitor chest strap readouts plus map

    Better to add as ANT+ rather than BT.

    Could k connect this to my Garmin Venu? Then complete an indoor ride, which then uploads to Garmin Connect iPhone app and also Strava? While also getting stats such as distance/ average speed/ top speed etc?

    OK great, nice video, but how does the speed sensor know your wheel size? On line manuals DO NOT mention that methodology at all.

    • @cuebj

      DesFit UA-cam demonstrates that. I'm getting impression Garmin supporting information is a bit bad

    • @WariWahab
      @WariWahab Рік тому

      With GPS for about 800meters to a few KM, it will then measure the rotations with a known distance, giving you the wheel size in mm. You can also manually calibrate that yourself if you want.

      OK managed to have a v quick test tonight with just the cadence sensor which is currently on my smart trainer setup. Managed to pair with the v650 no problem, however..... quick 30 second spin had it displaying cadence but it seemed to suffer dropout as the cadence dropped very briefly to 0 quite frequently. No idea of cause - haven't used the 650 for a long time and it probably hasn't the latest firmware installed. The cadence sensor has however been perfect paired with my macbook on Zwift. Having done a quick google have a read of the comments on DC Rainmaker (use a text search for polar to find the related comments) www.dcrainmaker.com/2019/04/garmin-speed-cadence-sensors-v2-with-ant-bluetooth-smart-in-depth-review.html - it seems others have experienced problems when using these sensors with polar devices.

    Just what I was looking for. I just bought the 1030 Plus bundle. Unfortunately there is no rubber band included with the speed sensor to attach it to my Rohloff. Do you or anyone who reads this have any suggestions on how I could still use the speed sensor? (I can not use the front wheel, because it has the SON dynamo)
    Thanks!

    • @cuebj
      @cuebj Рік тому

      Try plumbing supplies or general trade supplier like Screwfix or Toolstation in UK. Ask for 'O' Rings. Buy lots of specific size or packs of many sizes. Some online suppliers offer wider choice.
      Rubber bands like these degrade in sunlight and dry environments so be prepared to change them before the lose elasticity and break up. They are based on plumbing products that are concealed in damp piping

    Hello, I have a spinning exercise bike. (Tomahawk matrix spin bike) Do you think I can stick the speed sensor on my solid wheel at the front? Because no hubs. And will it recognize the diameter of my wheel?

    • @VELOGPSTHEINNERTUBE
      @VELOGPSTHEINNERTUBE  4 роки тому +1

      Nice piece of kit but I don't imagine it would work at all - the speed sensor would be rotating in the wrong plane even if you did manage to stick it on somehow.

      Get a Cateye Strado type (with cadence). Old school and a little fidily to setup, but cheap and once done very, very accurate year after year. Have one that's ~15 years old now. I've been looking at these gadgets for a long time, but simply don't see a need for knowing anything else than cadence and speed and this costs more, weighs more and offers no advantage except a larger screen and easier setup. Generally think its curious that so many forgo cadence - most important thing to monitor imho. Smartwatch will do stuff like heart rate etc better and easier and your smartphone can do all the tracking and stats you need.

    • @cuebj
      @cuebj Рік тому

      @@meibing4912 That's what I wanted to hear. Thanks. Having nor used any bike electronics for maybe 20 years but, in past, very happy with Cateye and as pensioner not wanting bike computer as well as smart phone, perfect advice. Phone on Quadlock can show heart rate from Polar strap (had heart attack and got stent in 2020) and Cateye is tiny extra on bar. Just have to change the stupid Specialized wing bar for straight top so gadgets and lights all fit

    These sensors are prone to magnetic interference. Magnet based ones are better, old school, but it works well.
