What a convoluted process! Great explanation, but Wahoo and Bryton do a far superior job of this simple task with smartphone setup. Amazed that Garmin hasn’t embraced this yet.
Can you guys do a video on three things concerning navigation; 1. How to reload a previously completed ride into your Garmin to ride it again using turn by turn navigation. 2. How to load a ride to Garmin from Strava
Thankyou ! I finally was able to put up multiple data screens , after watching the Garmin company videos, I was about to give up trying Your video explains sooooooo much better
The 530 calculates your speed using GPS without the need for a separate sensor. The speed sensor helps if you use your bike on a static trainer and the cadence sensor tells you how quickly you are spinning your cranks (the garmin cannot tell you this with out the cadence sensor). If you are not interested in cadence then you don't need the sensors and as said the Garmin will happily display your speed and works it out via gps,
Mine of six months dropping worst GPS after say 5 miles. And if stop if loses heart and cadence sensors. Painful. Does it need a firmware update. The 2 days it lost gps interestingly the Fenix 6 also did. Just wierd
Great Video! Very to the point without any fluff. Thank you for that. I wish there was an easier way to set up data fields. Thanks again for doing a great job, it is very helpful!😃
I found the screen dark and hard to see. Mind me asking what is your brightness set up? I'm so used to the 520 at 0%... I never had an issue. The 530 is different and much darker. Also have you figured out how to loose the virtual partner and the large green field? Thank you for your help
Absolutely ridiculous. I'm looking to buy a more serious bike GPS with proper navigation and I thought this has been a basic feature on any serious bike computer. My 60usd Magene C406 from Aliexpress allows me to tweak all settings and data fields on the phone then just push it to the computer in three seconds. Astonishing that you can't do that on one of the most advanced computers from the top GPS device manufacturer in the world...
Does anyone know an easier way to configure data screens on Garmin devices? This video explained the usual method well, but it is still unnecessarily time consuming. There must be someone who programmed a hack :-)
For a person that is not much into bike computer this video is on speed, you need to slow down! This is much too fast for me, I need to find another video........
So pleased I found this. I was on the verge of returning my 530. The instructions/manual from Garmin are poor. I'm embarrassed at the time it took me to customise / edit the screens. Without this clear video I'd have not got there. Compared to say Apple devices the command / edit structure on Garmin is far from intuitive and well behind.
Glad you found it helpful. I've just received an Edge 1040 so will be interested to have a play as they have apparently improved the setup process - i'll have a video up soon.
Typical nonsense. Total pain in the ass. Now I've got at least a dozen digital devices...do I really want to learn every f*n step to this device? I can't even get it to show my cadence. (Checking the connected sensors to make sure my cadence sensor is still attached.... does nothing. So don't buy this stupid thing unless your computer and bicycle are in the same room?) End result is that once I get the cadence, speed, elapsed time and maybe elevation... I'm never going to change screens - why invite this hassle? (And those natterers? "I don't why you're having a problem ..." Ha. )
Very useful thanks. One question from me. What on earth is the number that looks like a temperature on the top line next to the time when you have the status page open.. I can’t believe it is the temp as it differs by some 10 degrees to the temp shown on the weather line. Does anyone know? I can’t find it referenced anywhere
Have serious buyers remorse coming from the original elemnt but Thailand does not have an official outlet so heavy tax extra on them. It feels like an android phone from 2010
Thanks for the great video, I would like to add 3s power, avg powert and max power into the large data field, how can i do so? The orginal screen got that but when I change to 3s power, I cannot change back to 3 info in the same large field, please help! Thank you!
Good job man. True that the 530 is powerful but the interface seems 10 years late… as we are all used to smartphone now. So this video is very useful and when the gps is setup correctly you don t need to change it every day
Nice thanks. Is there a way to configure the fields that pops every 5km,or every interval? It shows lap , duration, distance. Could average power be added?
Im a 50 year old luddite coming off a Cateye I struggled to set up. Me wife buys me this this hightech Garmin thingy and I cant figure out if I need a speed sensor or not for it. I would prefer run it not connected to Strava or anything else. Can it work without a separate speed sensor?
Go to "settings", pick your "Activity Profile", scroll down to "Auto Features", the scroll down to "Auto Scroll", you can choose from "Off", "Slow", or "Fast"
I noticed that my 530 will have a white background during the day, and black background during the night. I think the unit knows to do this based on the time of day or night that you use it.
I would normally agree and definitely prefer the touch screen, however.....it really isn't worth approx 30% more when once setup the 530 still only needs 2 button pushes to get going (the same as the 830). 99% of the time I only use one screen on the device and even if i need to scroll i can to that with my di2 hood buttons. Touchscreen is better .... just not 30% more pounds better. The 530 is the current sweetspot price/feature wise.
What a convoluted process! Great explanation, but Wahoo and Bryton do a far superior job of this simple task with smartphone setup. Amazed that Garmin hasn’t embraced this yet.
Very compact information. No blah blah, just straight to the point! Big thumbs up!
Mine just arrived and this was immensely helpful! Thanks so much for taking the time to make this. 😊
You are so welcome!
Superb video. short, detailed, clear.
Many thanks!
Perfect thanks getting my first bike computer this week. (Same model) so this will help thanks.
Great job on video. The only video worth watching.

I took a shot for every DATA FIELD said lol I’m a Ghost now!!!!!
🤣

This helped a lot. Thank you.
Excellent tutorial
Great video. Thank -you 🙏
My pleasure!
THANK YOU.
You're welcome!
That was helpful, thanks
Glad it helped👍
I'm glad you made this video. It comes with he worst manual ever written. Thank you. Still very difficult to follow though.
You are right about that manual, it's awful
Do you need the sensor package for the speed to work? i don’t really understand the sensor package.
The 530 calculates your speed using GPS without the need for a separate sensor. 👌👌🏅🏅👍👍
I'd rather have a flow chart to look at to help understand this better.
Great
Super helpful getting the data screens configured. Thank You
Glad you found it useful
Where is CALORIES? I can’t for the life of me find it.
Thank you. I have set up all of my screens as well as adding D12 screen. I could not have done this without using your most helpful video
Great Video! Very to the point without any fluff. Thank you for that. I wish there was an easier way to set up data fields. Thanks again for doing a great job, it is very helpful!😃
Amazing .. thank you. Likely would have never figured this out without your tutorial.
just bought one today thankyou for the straight forward set up instructions cant wait to try it out tomorrow

Why it is not so simple as the wahoo bolt? I want to configure the fields with my smart phone ...
Absolutely ridiculous. I'm looking to buy a more serious bike GPS with proper navigation and I thought this has been a basic feature on any serious bike computer. Thanks for the video. Now all I need is it to stop Disconnecting and reconnecting the heartrate and Power meter every 30 seconds.
Does anyone know an easier way to configure data screens on Garmin devices? This video explained the usual method well, but it is still unnecessarily time consuming. There must be someone who programmed a hack :-)
Excellent instructional video. Professional, to the point, and made setting up the 530 quite easy. Thank you!!
Excellent, thanks for this tutorial that was sorely needed because Garmin user-friendliness is abysmal.
This is my first computer for a bike and I really needed a simple explanation on set up. Thank you
I just got mine and agree that this video is so helpful!
Great explanation and video, but man the music after the tutorial is way too loud...
For a person that is not much into bike computer this video is on speed, you need to slow down! This is much too fast for me, I need to find another video........
Thank you. Shan’t to change it after a couple years and could not remember/figure out how to redo it
unbelievably complex do a simple set up, BOO Garmin.
Yeah Garmin nice feature but why so complicated to set up?
Does the 530 have an odometer? If so, where can I find it?
I just want to reset my trip meter and time. Can you do that?

What a fantastic video, really helped me out as I have just got a 530.
Glad it helped

Slow down !!!! I had to keep going back, very informative and really helpful
How the hell can anyone follow that?
Very, very helpful video! From the manual I was not near to figuring this out.
Hello, how to setting the time/date?
Excellent and informative
6:43 I always wondered what is the blue and white dot on the green field, can you explain?
Nice thanks. Is there a way to configure the fields that pops every 5km,or every interval? It shows lap , duration, distance. Could average power be added?
Nice, thanks for the tips
Perfect, hust purchased one and this save so much time figuring out how to set it up.
The missing manual beautifully explained. Thanks for that.👍👍
Is it possible to use this with ant+ and Samsung watch for heart rate at the same time?
thanks for that it was a great help i thought the edge 530 was crap but now i think its pretty cool. cheers
Is it possible to use this with ant+ and Samsung watch for heart rate at the same time?
Watch a great video, read the Garmin guide 6 times but this video made it so easy , THANK YOU
Awesome video! How many custom ciq data fields can be used?
thanxs from Chile
Nice, recently purchased a 530 and loving it so far!
Its the sweetspot price vs feature wise
Thanks for the video. A great help for the novice.
Really good video. Lots of useful information, no BS.

Yes
👍thanks, easier to follow than the manual
I've returned a second time, simply because yours is the best all-round explanation. Thanks for providing such a usual guide.😎
Awesome, thank you!
This sounds like a north Essex accent
Hog county all the way !!
Best explanations I’ve seen so far. And with can’t stop won’t stop😀😀😀😀😀
Great to hear & you can't beat a bit of CSWS.
thank you for short set-up video !
Hi there nice video. I have a question for you. It is possible to go scroll the screens automatically like the garmin watches ? Thanks
Go to "settings", pick your "Activity Profile", scroll down to "Auto Features", the scroll down to "Auto Scroll", you can choose from "Off", "Slow", or "Fast"
Super, Thank zou very much
Hi. Thanks for the tutorial! What the cool song towards the end of the video?
'Mighty and High' by the awesome 'Cant Stop Wont Stop' ua-cam.com/video/ZPi3ZtReWBw/v-deo.html
Hi i would like to have a white background, how its possible?
I noticed that my 530 will have a white background during the day, and black background during the night. I think the unit knows to do this based on the time of day or night that you use it.
Very well done, thank you!
thanks for the tutorial :)
You're welcome 😊

Perfect...really helped me configure the data fields on my 530
Glad you found it helpful
530 and buttons reminds me of texting with my flip phone.
Upgrade to 830 with touchscreen , so much easier.
Nice send off.🫡
