I honestly think ERRA is like one of the best of this era (no pun intended). With the awesome guitars, smashing drums, smooth bass, aggressive screams, chilling cleans, and intricate lyrical concepts really bring out a lot of character, i hope these guys make it to new heights :D
exactly dude. I think they are the epitome of an entire genre. this is the absolute best music in this genre, period. its so creative and technical yet somehow it flows together so well and ends up so melodic.
Periphery have been doing this for a loooong time now.
Yet Erra is still much better :)

I didn't even realize that ADAM HICKS did ANYTHING related to backing vocals (2:20, "I will abandon myself"), although it seems like it didn't make the final album cut.
If you look closely at Alex, he definitely snickers at Adam doing the backing. 😂
I acutally asked Jesse personally and said that himself and Alan don´t know much theory at all, his self learned and earned his creativity by writing owns stuff, and playing covers from other bands in this genre, simply progressed by taking up stuff from other bands and eventually evolved something even more awesome.. Erra

+SimqleHD I think you're way off with your comment. Adam wanted to focus on his real passion which was a sport. Garrison was offered a good job through a family member.

@@mauricemotors8207 I respect your opinion. For me the band uses the same name, but it's a different band. Good for what it is, but I've always been passionate about heavy meets melodic so the older stuff suits me more.
I've listened a lot of bands but Erra is too different to the others, is hard to explain but I just can feel this when I hear them. Awesome!!
This - there is something magical about thier songs, it is more than music it seems and I say this because I feel it but I also think that I see comments like this so often about older ERRA songs and this type of thinking is never expressed for other bands. These guys are one of a kind, truly something magical and I feel super lucky that I am able to listen to this music. On a great set of speakers or headphones it is awe inspiring!
8 years later and I still come back to impulse sessions, so good. I hope they can do a reunion one day. I love erra and a reunion with current and old members would be so dope.

New ERRA isn't terrible but goddamn, it has just never been the same since Garrison and Alan left. Really shows you how much they contributed to the sound and style. Like i said, there's some stuff in the newer albums that's pretty cool too, but a lot of it just sounds lackluster and mediocre compared to Impulse, Augment, and the original EPs
You should check out Alan’s band The Artificials if you miss his guitar playing. His wife sings the cleans and he screams.

that drummer is a madman. I think these guys are great musicians. Thier arrangements are very tough. It usually takes me like two weeks to learn an erra song because there is so much change. These guys are brilliant and yes very talented.
ERRA are in overall a fantastic band, I just wish they'd stuck to the style of Impulse and Augment though, I find the new album really hard to get into, and I loved these guys the first 2 albums
SimqleHD Hard to stay the same when 60% of the influence is gone. You can tell Alan was the one who wrote the Misery Signals type riffs. Crimson is a great example.

It's not that bad if your more into prog metal I mean that's how I found erra I like the new stuff...but yeah once I heard impulse and augment I cried wishing I would have heard them then

They need to get Garrison back. Don't get me wrong, I like the new guy. Hes on par with Garrison, but Garrison's lyrics as well as his vocals define everything about Erra.

Alan Rigdon was main signature sound of erra, without him the new erra doesn't sounds like erra only Jesse's cleans reminds us of that old erra but Alan's band "The Artificials" sounds like old erra.

I listened to this album while tripping on 2.5 g psilocybin mushrooms. It felt so ancient, powerful, and beautiful; I felt like the shroom was speaking to me though the lyrics of each song...

Their first two albums for sure have the ancient everlasting power and vibe that you feel existing when using shrooms, imo.

These guys are playing my hometown with Fit for a King and I Declare War. But nobody knows who Erra is so they dont give a shit. They all like the shitty, generic music that the other two bands play. It's a shame.

Sometimes it's better that this kind of stuff remains this underground... the great music industry will not reach them, and their music will always be whatever they want to do.
Although I'm saying this, I don't feel that need to tell the world that what I listen to is better or worse than other musical stiles. I just listen, share with people that can possibly like and wear the t-shirts.
And since there are so many reasons that can break a band, I hope they get to the public they want to reach.
Still to this day this album I was most impressed by Garrison. He has a higher range than in Augment.
