Absolutely love this beer, probably should consider having separate categories for each type of beer in order to give this a higher rating, which it deserves in the Pilsner category.
It took me quite some time to really apreciate Pilsner Urquell but now for me it is the best beer in the world. Also it is one of those beers that will not kill you next morning if you had too many of them on party. Unlike IPA's and such.
I feel the exact same way. I wasn’t completely sold on it when we filmed this review and was caught off guard by the strong hop bitterness. Now however, it’s one of my favorites. And I actually find it’s much better in the bottle than it is in a can. More character and flavor. We’re thinking this one deserves a re-review at some point.
I loved this beer since the very first time. In fact it was my absolute favorite beer until I tasted the Vitus, in 2016 aprox. My top 10 favorite beers: 1. Weihenstephaner Vitus 2. Pilsner Urquell 3. Hoegaarden Wit-Blanche 4. Franziskaner Hefe-Weissbier Naturtrüb 5. Guiness Draught 6. Weihenstephaner Hefe Weissbier 7. König Ludwig Weissbier Hell 8. Brewdog Punk IPA 9. Trappistes Rochefort 10 10. Murphy's Love your videos!
What an amazing list! Murphy’s is so good, isn’t it? I had the chance to try Beamish for the first time on a trip to Ireland a few weeks ago and loved it just as much. Those Cork stouts are just perfection. We don’t get Brewdog beers here in Canada but I’ve heard good things about the Punk IPA watching other beer UA-camrs. Thanks for watching and for the kind words! Cheers 🍻
Much full bodied than Heineken, and slightly sweeter, with a Suttle lemon 🍋 peel taste especially when it's fresh and the bubbles are different, the lemon peel taste is as if it was brewed into the beer, it has a milky feel in the mouth, crisp, and fresh like spring water 💧 😋 very very very much drinkable leaves a tingling aftertaste on the tip of your tongue begging for more, and a buzz that creeps up, this beer is year round nut screams, screams, screams! Spring summer, burger, fries, steak, beef stew, pot roast, crackling, pork chops, chilli🌶, Porterhouse, venison, po'boy, carbs 🦀, seafood, cigar, and light enough to compliment and complement a dessert, I'm addicted to this, I keep buying it even over other strong flavorful beers 🍻.
I really enjoyed this beer and would give it a good score, especially for the category. I compared five beers yesterday and this came out on top, though that was partly because it was unique among the beers I tasted. I drank beers that are very well-known and popular in Canada, except for this one. I had Budweiser, Molson Canadian, Coors Original, Moosehead, and Pilsner Urquell. Pilsner Urqull was my favorite. It had a distinct flavor, which I think was due to the hops and bitterness. The rest of the beers were fairly similar to each other. I think the Coors Original and Moosehead were slightly better than the Molson Canadian and Budweiser. Though a former Budweiser I had was sweeter and more tasty and would probably have scored second place. I heard that commenting on videos is good for the UA-cam algorithm, so I will try to comment more often to help out your channel, and keep the comments shorter than this one, unless I find out that long comments positively help with the algorithm more than short comments.
Thank you so much for the support Bill! We appreciate you. We really like Urquell too. I had it in a bottle for the first time a few months ago and I was surprised at how much better it was. Either way, the true way of experiencing the beer is on tap using what are called Lukr side pull taps. Give it a quick Google if you’re curious. They give the beer a creamier body and bigger foamy head. I haven’t tried Urquell on these taps before, but have tried other Czech inspired pilsners and it takes them to another level .
I will have to make sure to try it from a bottle someday and I will google Lukr side pull taps right after I finish this comment. I wonder if they use these when they pour Pilsner Urquell at the brewery in Czechia. I've read that when you drink it straight from the brewery in Czechia it is unfiltered and unpasteurized which makes the beer even better according to some folks. Another Czech beer that I really like is called Czechvar. You should both try it if you have not already. It is the one that's called Budweiser Budvar in Europe. It's easy to get at the LCBO and Beer store in Ontario, but not sure how available it is in Florida for Alessandro to pick up. Thx.
I think you guys should understand the context of our beers. They are more focused on being drinkable and refreshing than being super tasty but after a while you get fed up with it. When you go to a pub here, you have say 5-7 of them over few hours. It's like having a refreshing yogurt cake compared to super delicious chocolate cake that you can eat just once.
It’s so true. This was one of our first reviews and at the time we weren’t comparing beers to others in the same category when assigning a score. Which we started doing shortly after. This review has always bugged me. Now that we’re further along in our beer exploration journeys, it’s obvious Urquell deserves a better score. We want to do a re-review asap. Especially since I was able to get some Bottles of it here recently and I think it’s far superior than the cans. Can vs bottle upcoming?
I bought the 6pack glass bottles version, it felt a bit weird on first impression. Expire date is April 2022, so it should still be fine, but feel like I tasted a bit of skunk or something funky. Overall, it have slightly more bitterness than some other pilsner I've tasted, and also a honey-like taste. I prefer something more clean and crisp for this style. Maybe I need to try the canned version if I ever find it sold as a single for a fresher taste. Just not willing to buy a whole pack again since I much prefer the Czechvar, which is one of my favorite right now.
Agreed, it's why it got a lower score than other lagers or pilsners we've reviewed. There's a sharp bitterness to it that seems a bit unbalanced, or funky like you said. That being said every time I've had it on tap it's been fantastic. Seems to be the way to go with this beer.
Your suspicion about cans is correct. The bottles just don't seem to export as well, but they are much easier to to find. That is why I typically end up drinking the bottles. You might try one of the large, "we have everything" liquor stores. In my area it is Total Wine and More. They sell 4 packs of 500 mL cans and also singles. But as Beer Brackets mentioned, your best bet is from the tap. Even better, if you are ever in the Czech Republic, is a cold, fresh glass of Pilsner Urquell on a warm Prague summer evening.
beer bracket buddies this is my all time favourite beer it’s never had let me down so down cheers brother i don’t buy it too often because 3 50 a single can and probably 17 dollars a 6 pack of bottles it’s hard to find it in bottles i didn’t even see a 6 pack of it in bottles at my local beer store only in single cans unfortunately
I actually think Urquell pairs pretty well with cigars. I used to get it on tap at a cigar bar in Raleigh, NC, and watch the Hurricanes. I think the lack of intensity you guys hit on plays well to that.
That's a really good point! The lighter characteristics allow it to pair better with more intense flavours. Which a cigar definitely qualifies as hahah. Now I need to try pairing the 2 one day.
Ah, my father's beer of choice. To quote him: "A Communist beer, This beer has won a lot of wars." I'm not sure he's right about that. But, there's a nostalgia to this because of him.
Open the beer vault alessandro!! haha love an ice cold urquell on a summer day
Agreed! I think the vault is finally open.

Love it! what an awesome description.
Best beer in the world takes 200 days to brew
200 days! That's amazing.

We’ve been wanting to do a can vs bottle for quite a while, because I think the bottled version is a lot better. Much more flavour to it.
i definitely agree buddies i am very into ipas recently
@@DavidArthur-wo7tv Summer is definitely the IPA season I think! At least it is for me. Any go-to's?
yessir buddy i love corrective arts life in the clouds ipa and goose island ipa and one of my new favourite is muskoka major tom ipa buda
@@DavidArthur-wo7tv Life in the clouds is a great one! Especially on tap.
I've never had the canned Pilsner Urquell, but I have seen the 500ml can 4-packs, on rare occasions.
It's really refreshing in a can. Worth picking up to experience it if you've never had it on tap either.

😂 A communist beer! It’s been around long enough, I’m sure it’s won a beer war or two. Your father had good taste.
Urquell on tap on czech tastes so much better than bottled canned.
You are SO right. Neither can or bottle compares to Urquell on tap.
