- Shark shows burning interest in my buddy's yellow fins.
Although no deadly attacks on divers have been documented so far, the oceanic whitetip shark counts to the four most dangerous shark species.
Shark Attack -Atemberaubendes Hai -Light meiner jüngsten Rotmeeer Tauchsafari.
One of the most feared sharks for navy ship wreck survivors. Opportunistic and persistent open ocean shark.
White tip oceanic sharks!
@@serenitysmith352 It is now clear for professionals that hit the shark on it's nose is not safe, If you hit it the shark may assume you are a prey defending yourself. Best option is to stay upright position, don't put the fins in front, always watching the shark eyes, and if the shark is approaching to close just push it away with your hand.
@@serenitysmith352 Thanks for your comment. Indeed, in many videos you will see divers hitting the shark on the snout, there they have the ampullae of Lorenzini, which is their sensory organ. But the sharks use that instrument to check what is in front of them, and if that being defends itself, it is very likely that the shark thinks it is a prey. Here I show you a video that I recorded myself, it is a tiger shark, one male, he comes closer to me to look and brings his nose closer to me to use his detectors, ampullae of Lorenzini, I just stood up, and I did not stop looking at him, he approached, looked and he left. It is VERY important to always look at them to their eyes.
Enjoy: ua-cam.com/video/QtV_kA-f0dU/v-deo.html
@@serenitysmith352 Thanks to you again for your comment. Yes, tiger sharks are famous for their bite power, their teeth are the most special of all, they can split turtles into two pieces. But the truth is that their behavior is similar to other sharks, as I told you is it very important that they can see you, it is very dangerous to dive/swim with sharks in dirty water (foam from the waves, or at night, or in rivers), it is not good idea to carry shiny things because they can look like shiny fish, and don't swim away because they can see you as a prey. I know this is much easier said than done, and you are right, if the shark had changed his mind it would have been a difficult situation for me, otherwise shark are under their instinct, they think first in his security, they do not realise how powerful they are, and, most important, they don't know you and they scared of you.
The Oceanic White Tip patrols the open ocean and will investigate ANYTHING it finds to see if it can be eaten.. especially if it moves slower than the fish it encounters!
One of the most dangerous sharks in any ocean; the Oceanic Whitetip is always hungry and always pushes to attain an angle to bite.
What a little bugger of a whitetip, he was persistent 😂 you dudes done everything perfectly, stayed calm and never took your eyes off it and got some awesome footage into the bargain…nice one lads 👏
Thank you very much for your feedback!
I'm so afraid of Oceanic Whitetip sharks! They are the most persistent ones, they keep circling, coming and going, until they find the opportunity to check you out! I'm glad you came out of this in one piece!
Thank you!
The shark is saying, "you don't understand, it's not me in the water with you, it's you in the water with me".
Never fails to amaze me how calm people can be in the ocean, I could never ever attempt something like this, paranoia would absolutely take over me. Even just watching this clip I have that tight feeling in my stomach that something else will swim up from the deep 🫣 beautiful creatures I like to admire from many many miles away lol 💙
Got the same feeling. Not only the animals. Also the view to the bottom. Getting darker and darker straight to an unknown abyss :c
It sucks to be you. You project life in advance and that would be good if in that power you dont dismiss your self of being RULER OF THIS PLANET. IT sucks to be You because this mentality is what i call ''Devil's Dance'' Yea you might get away from some danger, but in the end you will swim in your tears and worst of all is that i cannot help you understand me it has to be you. Because no matter what there is end in this life for everything. INCLUDING LIGHT that will die last. And there is nothing wrong with that.
BUT THERE IS EVERYTHING WRONG WITH BEING COWARD!
@@glovozagreb6594 im sorry you feel that way! To each his own, but don’t mistake being afraid of the deep ocean as being a coward. I find fulfilment in life in many other areas. Shark: Excuse me sir do you know our Lord and Savior Megaladon?
Me: Breh!!!
You guys were lucky this shark was not particularly aggressive. The Oceanic White Tip is one shark that will have me out of the water after a quick peek.
Yep. The one thing I’d risk decompression sickness for is getting out of the water when longimanus shows up.
Nope. Not gettin' off the freaking boat for this one.....NO Way! You have zero idea as to their next move!
Aggressive body posture but not attacking = territorial stalking. It wants you to leave.
@@DepthFromAbove And that is exactly what I’d be doing.
Pelagic species could get desperate when starving, since open oceans are deserts they will munch everything the can possibly eat, the shark probably thought they were stranded logs, which tend to gather fish and mollusks, maybe thats why he tried to attack their fins.
“Shark attacked numerous times by rubber fins” would be a more accurate title.
i agree. They are magnificent creatures to be respected and left in peace. This one approached maybe because of the fluorescent stripes (never to wear!) and could have made him think of fish who got that design. When approaching, he was calm and would not have attacked the diver. The longimanus is peaceful and curious . He just came to see what it was and re-cognize it. Afterwards, they leave to their secret and deep oceanic dwellings.
Right
Our W tips would have taken a bite, never ever do this in the open pacific, they come on fast and will bite on first contact, completely different behavior where this was videoed
You give him the opportunity and he would bite.
@@roadboat9216 If it wanted to attack it wouldn't have been deterred by a splash against its nose by a pair of rubber finns.
"Okay, you let me know when you're injured, aight?"
This shark is not in attack mode. It's simply curious. There is a video on UA-cam showing a Longimanuses in attack mode though. It looks entirely different than this shark's behaviour. Also, note this shark appears to be blind in one eye. It's not being aggressive at all.
You're an idiot. It's obviously sizing the diver up for a meal. Oceanic Whitetips hunt humans.
. We can do without the name calling...it definitely is curious about something.
Being in the open ocean, I would think it probably IS hungry, and like any predator, is doing a "risk assessment" of the potential food source.
Not sure if the shark is blind in one eye or that's the protective sheathing their eyes seem to have when they bite/probe.
@@The_Endless_Summer You're stupid guy, it is obvious you don't know anything about sharks, and of course about Carcharhinus Longimanus. That shark was curious about what was floating in the water, the diver's behavior was incorrect, first of all he shouldn't stay on the surface, then he shouldn't put his fins in front, he must to stay upright, and if the shark approaches too much it is enough to push it away with your hand. If you hit it the shark may assume it is a prey defending itself.
Aggressive body posture but not attacking = territorial stalking. It wants you to leave.
on the contrary, the hunched back and downward pec find suggest it could attack at ANY MOMENT. white tip 101, homie
"I was on the fence as if this was bite worthy, but then this human starts trying to kick me, and I was like...
screw it, I am gonna scare the crap out him"
Excellent vid...Looks more like a "serious inquiry" than an attack but still great footage (literally and figuratively)
Thank you. You are right. He just was curious and playful
These oceanic white tipped beasts that live in the deep pelagic zone, live in what is in effect a "food desert",so they're in a permanent state of semi starvation. Anything that moves (or floats) could be edible, so they will have an exploratory bite of it. This is what makes them so dangerously aggressive. The same principles apply to the equally dangerous polar bear. At least if you meet a great white, its liable to have chomped on something pretty lately, so the chances are they'd leave you be, but if you meet these devils with no escape or defence, your numbers up.
Facts
we have to stop killing sharks
I think the oceanic is the most persist shark I’ve ever seen
there have been attacks by oceanic whitetip in egypt , the 2010 sharm attacks where believed to be oceanic whitetips
Through watching so many shark videos, I could tell it was going to attack the way the fins were arched, but still terrified of sharks, but respect them as magnificent creatures x
That hunched back and downward pointing pectoral fins means that is one angry shark
Id be pissed off too if someone kicked me in the face when all i wanted was my nose rubbed...
Stretching your leg out to a white tip is the stupidest you can do
“mIsTaKeN aS a sEaL”
That water is so clear it looks like you were swimming in a pool with an oceanic white tip, especially with no other sea life around. 😂
It was this species of shark which was partly responsible for the numerous attacks in Sharm El Sheikh afew years ago, along with makos
Nutty Nutcase and Battle ship Indianapolis in the 2ww ....R.I.P.
Yess, It's an oceanic whitetip.. Quite an unpredictable one at that
Very well managed by the diver. Never lose sight of him and stand your space. Just let him know you are not the food he is confusing you for. Awesome outcome. 👍👌
Longimane pointe blanche...
The devil himself.
This one look small...
😂😂❤
..
I like this shark species....those white labels on fins r supercool
They are inexorable, don't quit, don't give up what can be food because in oceanic open waters the occasions to feed are less frequent. I still remember Jacques Cousteau who told about his son filming sharks in a cage (they were feeding on the carcass of a spermwhale) and suddenly all disappeared..then came a huge specimen of oceanic white tip and tried to break the cable of the cage biting it. Many minutes of pure terror with the risk of having to abandon the cage if dropped on the bottom 😬😬😬
Is the bull... Great white... Black tip and white tip four most dangerous?
I think tiger is within accident statistics top 4 instead of oceanic (i.e. not 'reef') black tip
Dont forget the tiger.
Very cool video, thank you for sharing.
You keep playing with him .Soon as he grabs you your going downward to the hood.
i've seen them in nusa penida (bali) and luckily the one that approached us were small and not in the "mood". i was genuinely panicking inside my head although my dive master told us its okay.
and where exactly did the shark attack anyone?
In the description it says no documented attacks (regarding Oceanic Whitetip.) I'd wager ISAF would say something about that, especially regarding the USS Indianapolis.
Yeah, I’ve seen footage of white tip attacks.
Definitely one species of shark that you’d never want to turn your back on at all, they have no problems attacking something that cannot see it coming. Ie ambush predators
Definitely white tip on Indy attacks
I’m pretty certain this is an oceanic whitetip shark. They are the sharks who attacked all those men during the USS Indianapolis catastrophe. They are aggressive sharks. Supposedly more aggressive toward humans than any other shark species. They don’t look as deadly as a Great White but they terrify me.
I heard a man who was retired from the Navy, tell a story of his diving partner being attacked by these sharks. They were doing some kind of work and had dove back down to their dive site when two Oceanic Whitetips showed up. He watched his friend being shredded to pieces by them as he held onto him tightly! They drug both men deep into the ocean. His friend died.
It was a harrowing story. The man who survived is a hero in my eyes. He never left his friend even with the sharks ripping at them and his oxygen tank critically low. He fought like hell.
Edit: And I would never swim with these sharks.
Persistent opportunists. Don’t turn your back on them. Oceanic White tips. Very distinct looks and behavior.
Great video
In the video description it says; "no documented fatalities to date"...whats up with that?!?! there have been tons of fatal incidents involving White Tips.
sorry it says; "no deadly attacks on divers yet" which again is total bull.
I like how the White Tips keep returning- he/it just wants a lil taste and then I'm sure it would move on!
How much more does the shark have to do until you get out of its home? Seriously, the body language says it all.
Idiots. Back hunched, pec fins pointed downwards; this shark was pissed. They were just asking to be bitten.
The shark's posturing lets me believe the shark is not my friend.
Well done in establishing yourself with the kicks. You can’t let them bully you or they will become more emboldened. Sharks either view you as predator or prey, you want them to view you as a potential threat not a potential meal.
Привет, на каком рифе это было в Красном море?
Those oceanic white tip are very dangerous sharks , they like to take bites
That shark must have just been in a good mood. I'm surprised it did not tear you in half especially with you kicking at it like that you were very lucky..
Aggressive body posture (fins down/circling/quick turns) but not attacking = territorial stalking. It wants you to leave.
Well done that did not panic! I have also been in this situation! Best regards from Russia!
again, if u dance with him you had better know what dance it's doing -- he's sizing u up to see what part of the buffet u are

It is. But it was a small friendly one.

he didnt know how to handle the shark
Longimanus is a very mean shark probably the most agressive there is
@Serena 2.0 they are deadlier for sure but Longimanus are persistent and more unpredictable.
This guy is a legend he keeps kicking away the shark but sharky🦈 still wants his ankles
Pretty unprofessional diver. The white tip did certainly not attack but was rather interested in the diver.
Well done mate well done
pretty amazing how come he is only attackin the other guy ? was the shark curious or you knew he was in attackin mood !
+Ahmad Alanazi
The shark was curious and was attracted by the yellow colour of the fins.
In world war 2, American Airforce and Fleet initially used yellow life jackets.
They changed the colour when they found out that yellow attracted the sharks.
What a Beauty
You ought to change the title of this video. The white tip was even close to attacking you, more like curious looking for a handout... Nice clickbait
That poor shark looks like he has been prey, himself, in the past. Someone has bitten chunks out just above the tail and he has scarring all over.
Oh, and he's also blind in one eye 😞
@@imranh5395 Probably, you're the blind one. Both eyes of the shark are intact. You can see the pupil in both eyes. And you see a few times how the shark protects its eye. Some shark species have what is called a nictitating membrane. This fine membrane can be slid over the eye. Other shark species can roll their eye inwards to protect it... like the great white shark. The caudal fin is also intact. Nothing is missing as far as I can see. The shark seems to have had an healed injury on the dorsal fin, like the scars, probably a remnant of a mating. The shark is a lady, because the male sex organs, the claspers, are missing. And during mating, sharks are rough, the males bite into the fins of the females in order to fertilise them with their claspers. You really don't seem to know anything about sharks.
Could be from being involved in a frenzy with other sharks.
An Oceanic White Tip, one of the most dangerous , swimming in aggressive posture, means time to get out of the water!
Oh man I'd have to say with this type of shark that's known to be aggressive? You were quite lucky it didn't go nuts on you!
3 minutes I'll never get back.
It looks like a Longimanus Regina? 😀
Reminds mr of Cousteau's account of his first encounter during red sea expedition (in the book "the silent world"..
Anyway, I hope the dignhy came to pick you up soon, next time tell your buddy not to bring yum-yum yellow fins, neither triggerfish-blue 😛 only black fins...
Nice you were calm, what an experience!
Fins down I'm crapping myself. The hell am I doing on the open ocean?
maybe was a frendly shark cuz fins were relaxed and horizontal only flexed down after he got kicked at
This is NOT a shark attack. Misleading title. You are playing with an Oceanic White Tip. I am surprised that its friends did not join them and surround you. They were responsible for many deaths of the USS INDIANAPOLIS Sailors.
You never looked in danger or scared.
They will keep coming back these white tips. 😂😂😂😂 They are like a persistent hungry dog after his plate of Food 😂😂😂😂 You have get out of the water when these guys turn up. You can’t possibly concentrate on your dive. AND THEY ARE A PROTECTED SPECIES LIKE THE GREAT WHITE 👍👍
Your full of shit. Stop taking

А вам страшно не было 🤔
I’ve heard the eyes and gills r sensitive if under attack
Vamos a ver, estás en su territorio y tú eres comida para el. De que nos sorprendemos.
Oceanic Whitetips in my opinion are more dangerous than Great White sharks. They don't mind the taste of human flesh.
I don’t think the most dangerous but certainly the most aggressive towards us
Why stay in the water? No boat?
The shark was just playing with us , and the zodiacs were collecting several groups of divers…
Definitely one animal that doesn’t want or need any friends
Really a breathtaking highlight for a dive safari and I envy you for that, but "shark attack" in the video's title is certainly a joke referring to the diver's kicks at the shark, isn't it? You state yourself in one of the comments "he was just curious and wanted to play". The alleged aggressiveness of White Tips is vastly exaggerated. Every day dozens of divers visit Elphinstone Reef in the Red Sea to encounter them and there are hardly ever any incidents, not to speak of actual attacks. Pay them respect and learn how to behave in their presence and you'll have one of the great experiences in a diver's career.
You are right, the video's title is a joke. I apologize that people who could not follow my German undertitle did not realize this.
Of course he was just curious and wanted to play.
You just have to take an upright position, continuously face the shark, keep calm, and do not move your fins. Especially if you have yellow ones!
And make sure you have a film in your camera!°
Hi! Where were you? I'll be in Sharm in a few weeks... And I would like to not see an oceanic white tip! :D Beautiful animal indeed..
Andrea Alvito dont worry . It was far in the south at Zabargad Island. And he just was curious and wanted to play. When you are friendly to him he is friendly to you. And if you feel fear do not show it
Thank you very much. I'll be scuba diving all days for a week, but I'd prefer not to be in a situation like this! I know what you mean anyway.. Your yellow-tips friend don't seems to "friendly" with the shark :D
The shark was just curious don't kick her. I would of tried to pet it.
You'd have lost your arm.
@@tabithadebolt1708 . Nope. They hardly ever attack. They are at best curious and normally totally nonchalant toward divers

More like a nosey shark. When a shark decides to take a bite (attack), blood always follows.
They call them the wolves of the ocean for a reason.....
at no point in this video did this shark try to attack you ! either you are trying to gain view's or you just don't understand shark behaviour.
oceanic white tips, the street thugs of the shark world
And they are especially attracted by yellow fins…
Yum Yum Yellow
Shark attack you're kidding right and is it really breathtaking to see a shark while you're diving or snorkeling it is an everyday occurrence you're lucky he didn't attack you those white tips can be very aggressive I wish these people would just use the phrase shark encounter as opposed to shark attack even when people get bit it's usually a shark bite not a shark attack
A shark is is a freaking shark is a freaking shark 🦈 😳
We know..they go crazy for yellow fins 😂
Sorry I come first,it’s not their ocean.
The one shark you do not want to swim near or be in the area is the Oceanic whitetip shark!
_"The one shark you do not want to swim near or be in the area is the Oceanic whitetip shark!"_
Because this shark is very pushy and will not be impressed or scared away by anyone. Moreover, this species is responsible for most of the high seas attacks on shipwrecked people.
its a young longimanus, interesting about the sound of the camera- next time close it and he will go away
OWT don't play....when an opportunity arises they must capitalize ..never knowing when they get another chance to feed.
It did not look like he was attacking, but use to fo,KS feeding him. It was cool.
Oceanic white tip. Probably responsible for more attacks on humans than any other shark I would bet. Those are the ones that ate the 100's of sailers when that ship sank. Guy talked about it in the movie jaws. That was a factual story the captian was telling Hooper n the sheriff
They were actually only responsible for about 15-25 deaths, the rest died from exhaustion, drinking salt water, sun burns and/or dehydration.

I wouldn’t include hundreds of people stranded in the middle of the ocean as more often or multiple ‘attacks on humans.’ More like, anything out there would be seen as food to any meat eating creature. &once there’s blood from one, it’s not over until it’s over. Bull sharks however, will swim right up beside you in 2 feet of water, eat &kill you talking to your friend in a freshwater stream. That’s an attack. &that’s scary.
