    Truly that world under water is fascinating! But I'm content to see it through you divers. I haven't lost anything down there. Thanks for showing it.

    You’re the first person I’ve heard identify particular shark movements as what’s actually a pretty sophisticated strategy. Good on you for identifying that specific movements were designed to separate the divers and the swims overhead to prevent any from going to the surface. So, the shark knew the creatures he was dealing with go to the surface to escape. Who said sharks were dumb. *The shark’s pectoral fins were completely straight out when it swam at the guide. After he punched it, its fins went down into attack position. Don’t get me wrong, I would’ve pushed it away, too, as it was coming at his head, but I’m not so sure it was going to attack him.

    Fantastic to see how you handled that. Very educational for any divers that might find themselves in that same situation. Thank you!!!

    The shark did not attack Aly. It came down to have a look and possibly followed the trail of bubbles. If it was attacking him that arm would have been gone.

    Terrific video and man, those Oceanic White-Tips are formidable creatures and if I'm not mistaken, this was the species that attacked one of the divers a few years ago while bottom feeding sharks and had his/her bait in a sack wrapped around the waist and behind her. The shark realized this is where the bait is and went for the sack ending up biting a rather large chunk out of the rear-end cheek of that diver. I remember this story as if it was yesterday since I'm from that area and keep up with this sort of thing, hoping someday to dive all the amazing reefs of the Red Sea. Thanks for sharing that. I bet that video of the attack is posted somewhere here on YT.

      I know about that and this shark in fact didn't just bite the diver. He bites 5-6 people the same way on different days. They found that the sharks tailfin was damaged so maybe he wasn't able to get his natural pray

    Wow, great video Johan...your voice wasn't that calm when you got on board the boat :-) he he he. Next time you have got any tips about sharks being attracted to yellow fins, feel free to share it before we all jump in, that wasn't something I was aware of Great work, thanks for doing this for everyone, much appreciated. Are you able to extract still images from your video footage at all?
    Best wishes,

    A little 4' long trident would work with a poke in the nose. They are a combination of caution and aggression. I wonder how they would deal with a big fur seal that could bite back?

    Thank you a lot for this footage....it's worthy of many more views and I hope it's seen by professionals .....lots of information about both scubas and sharks' behaviour
    Besides, the quality of the video is absolutely top and your comment accurated
    Honestly it didn't seem to me an attack ....I'm not blaming Ali, his was an istinctive reaction for the shark getting too close, and probably he was right....it wasn't an attack though

    how deep do sharks dive? i take it from this video that when the divers were deep down they were safe from the sharks attacking?

    • @1969cmp
      @1969cmp 8 років тому +4

      Much further than we can dive.

    • @Pussycatfeathers
      @Pussycatfeathers 8 років тому +1

      well you learn something every day :-) i actually thought that they were pretty much surface swimmers, but why then didn`t they follow the divers deeper, you would think they would attack in such numbers?

    • @1969cmp
      @1969cmp 8 років тому +1

      +Pussycatfeathers Had they been 10, 12 or 15 foot sharks, it just may have been a different story. Or had they got excited by a blood nose. And it the end, we do not know why.
      Some species do just hug the surface while others skim the ground either in shallow water or very very deep. And some have a very large spectrum of depths and water types.

    • @Pussycatfeathers
      @Pussycatfeathers 8 років тому

      +1969cmp thankyou so much for explaining, i love Sharks, find them fascinating while at the same time very scary :-) i hate how they are so persecuted and i think, misunderstood :-( wouldn`t want to get too close to one though i don`t think LOL

    • @1969cmp
      @1969cmp 8 років тому

      +Pussycatfeathers Yes, they are very fascinating. One of my favorite group of creatures as well. On Australia's ABC tv a couple of years ago was an interesting documentary about Shark Bay which is in Western Australia. This area is an important breeding ground for dolphins and a massive variety of wildlife including Dugon or sea cows, turltles as well as the Tiger Shark. That was pretty cool to watch.
      Have you ever watched River Monsters? There is a couple of episodes dedicated to the Bull shark. Now they really are one of the lethal of sharks as they also swin very far up rivers. You are less likely to survive a Bull shark attack than a Great White attack. Serious critter.

    I went with wonkey donkey tours to brothers 3 times. Amazing to dive with these sharks. They are so friendly, just want to play and get hugs. One person did get dragged down to about 87 metres by an oceanic, another had reg pulled out and a yellow mares fin ripped off. One person got a chunk of her scalp taken off by a trigger fish. It was so much fun. Especially for the guy with a 12l tank doing 87, oh we laughed and laughed.

    I have had my share of shark experiences underwater. In the Bahamas (Tiger Beach), the sharks would follow us around on every dive, even the non shark feeding ones. The key is awareness. If you face the shark and demontrate to him that you're not an easy meal, you'll be fine. I did have to shove one away one time when he got to close. After that he kept his distance.

    • @igorivanov299
      @igorivanov299 Рік тому

      Of course sharks attack, that was an ignorant comment.
      Sharks don't intentionally seek out human prey, though they may be curious or very hungry and will attack.
      Sharks also don't make mistakes. They know exactly what humans are not. They know the difference between what they normally eat and what they see/sense what's in front of them.
      Sharks have extraordinary and sophisticated senses that help them identify prey to precisely what it is. They don't make mistakes, not even in murky water.
      Sharks are opportunistic predators, they are also very inquisitive. They notice a awkward, un-streamlined strange looking animal in their habitat, it all depends on their intentions. If they're curious to see if you're edible?, there's nothing you can do to effectively stop them, and if a shark is malnourished and looking for any convenient food item for the sake of its survival, it will definitely attack.
      Pretending they don't intentionally attack, won't save you from a hungry opportunistic predator.
      That's just fact.

    5:15 "hardly any real attacks are known of"!?!?!!! OWT species is recorded to have attacked 21 people between 1955 and 2020, including nine divers, eight swimmers, two fisherman, one shipwrecked person and one fallen pilot. Five of these attacks were fatal. That's just the recorded ones. Let's just ignore the Indianapolis and Nova Scotia, and dozens of other shipwrecks.

    The marine life in the corals are just beautiful I don't float on the ocean I don't swim in the ocean I don't fly over the ocean you guys can keep that desert and that's what it is it's the world's largest desert with the most deadliest predators that you can't get away from there is nowhere to hide because you may be a diver but eventually those tanks are going to run out and then what are you going there is just too much crap in that water that can take your ass out in drop of a dime and that's one thing I don't play with I don't play with stuff that can take me out and I don't like messing with stuff in a place that won the predators have an advantage on me and two that's one of my fears is getting 8 alive so yeah you guys can keep that and I know people go you got a better chance of getting hit by lightning than getting attacked by a shark but knowing my luck that shirt that would attack me wouldn't have read that damn book
