For a bit of context, this was in 2017 in Ottawa, Ontario when Michael was being honored with a Governor General's Performing Arts Award, think Kennedy Center Honors except Canadian. Joan actually flew from Texas to Ottawa and back to Texas again in a 24 hour period just to perform this one song with Michael.
thank you for that piece of information, that truly makes it even more special. I have been a longtime fan of them both and I have to admit, this got me a little choked up seeing them perform together 30 years after Light of Day was released. especially considering MJF's struggle with Parkinsons.

I saw an interview recently with Joan Jett. She said she loved working with him on Light of Day and that he was Extremely helpful to her in the movie. (She also said he really does play guitar and is pretty good). They are still friends to this day.

Really liked this movie as a kid. Great to see him still playing after everything he has been through.

When I have tremors and shaking my hands, it is very difficult something to play (I play piano). I don´t understand how MJF can handl it... I admire him for it. He must have very powerful will to play - it is a love of music... :-)

Absolutely. I'm a writer living with Parkinson's, and it is the love of the craft that allows me to push through all the challenges and type. I make mistakes, but it's through love and determination that I am able to do the work. I imagine it's the same for MJF with playing the guitar.

What friendship these two share. Yes I can see they are comfortable with each other. Joan sounds absolutely fantastic. Her voice is still powerful and she puts on an amazing show. As for Michael J. Fox? Still one of the best people of the world. So much courage and strength and a great inspiration to all.

It's a Bruce Springsteen song, he wrote it and recorded it first.
Although he did write it for the movie back when he was supposed to be starting in it before he changed his mind about getting into acting.

Thank you so much for posting this!! I loved this movie when I was a kid. I know it wasn't a huge hit but I thought it was amazing. Seeing it done again especially given MJF struggle with Parkinsons this made me tear up! Love Joan!

Michael J. Fox is my spirit animal and my light of day. My everyday life is still roughly the same for now, but my inner world had completely transformed thanks to him. A limitless man. It's insane to see him like this knowing he's so sick. If he can do this in his condition, who the fuck am I? Incredible.

Wow, that was great! So cool of Joan to do this special gig for her buddy Michael. Sounded great. They played brother and sister in the movie ‘Light of Day,’ with Gena Rowlands as their Mom. Good movie! Lotsa rock and roll amidst the family drama. For someone who’s a singer/musician, Joan was great and very natural and believable in that movie.

Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band actually recorded a band version of this track during the "Born In The USA" sessions on May 25, 1983. I hope it gets released when the "Born In The USA" box set eventually gets released (you know a songwriter is good when the record label releases a box set based on a single album - it's happened already with "Born To Run," "Darkness" and "The River."). It has obviously turned into one his best live songs. It was played throughout most of the 1999/2000 reunion tour.
