    Tip number 6) if you have a two channel amp then select your overdrive channel and make this as clean as possible (turn the gain down to 1 and turn the volume up). Run your DS1 into the amps (now clean) OD channel and turn up the dist knob to max on the pedal. Use your guitars volume knob to get a range of clean, crunch and lead sounds.
    Usually an amps OD channel has a better lower and mid range response which will help give your DS1 that classic warm Marshall type Overdrive/distortion sound and prevent that fizzy, transistor radio sound you get by using a DS1 into a clean, sparkly amp.

      This is fantastic advice: Tone at 12 o'clock level at max, distortion at max. Plugged into gain channel as you say. Sounds very good. Gives a nice 90s grunge sound.

    I use it with a tube screamer for a classic metal sound. Tube Sreamer with drive on 1 Tone 6 and level full > DS-1 tone 3, gain barely on (1 maybe) level full > Slighly breaking up Marshall, bass 3, mid 2, treble 6.

    Versatile, not expensive, good sounding. I love the DS1 . Thanks for the video. Cheers from Brazil.
    PS - I use it with full dist and the others knob on 12 o'clock. It gives me a good sustain for solos.

    Practice matters with this pedal ! Take the time to listen to all the tones, growls, distortion levels, sustain- yes sustain ! Most individuals dont hear it ,but it's there ! And last but not least, it has a small window of Overdrive ! Yeap, try volume 11 o'clock, tone 1 -ish,and distortion at 2:30 -ish !!!! That's what the Girls say is the sweet spot ! If you know what I mean ! Peace !😎✌

    Am I right that your clean sound is a bit crunchy? All the most convincing demos seem to say this is the way to get the best sounds from the DS-1, that it was designed for cranked power amps on the late 70s-80s. Sounds really good
    in the fx return too by the way. Got one coming in the mail!

    • @SRguitar
      @SRguitar  3 роки тому +2

      Just bought the DS-1. Have it in front of an OCD, not much point in having both on together, the last pedal (OCD) is dominant, hence warm not bright. If you want bright disortion, just engage the DS-1. Yet to try the DS-1 after the OCD; half expect it will be mushy with both engaged.

    • @jas641
      @jas641 3 роки тому +2

      @@SaxJockey If I use Ds-1 before OD it works like a boost I think?

    • @SaxJockey
      @SaxJockey 3 роки тому

      @@jas641 Just tried the DS-1 after the OCD; I prefer that set up; works well (both on adds noise). The DS-1 is known to compress the signal, so going through the OCD first boosts the desirable frequencies. The DS-1 then provides the distortion on top (with some compression). DS-1 last = prominent bright distortion. OCD last = prominent warm overdrive.

    Here's a little thing to be aware of, in my case at least. It does not respond well to EMG Active pickups (possibly all active pickups) it sounds amazing through all my guitars with passive pickups, but once I plug in my Ibanez with emg 81/85 config it sounds like thumpy garbage lmao.

    Hey Sasha. Mir gefallen Deine UA-cam Beiträge sehr gut, ich finde sie lehrreich und informativ und man kann ja immer noch etwas dazu lernen. Trotzdem hätte ich eine Frage, auch wenn die vielleicht ganz schnell in einem falschen Licht erscheinen mag, aber so ist sie nicht gemeint. Ich bin weder braun noch wähle ich rechts😉 Trotzdem würde ich mir zumindest für mich wünschen, dass Du als deutschsprachiger Gitarrist Deine Videos in deutsch ausführen würdest, und das nicht aus einem verdrehten Nationalbewußtsein heraus, sondern aus ganz praktischen Gründen. Mir als altem Kerl, der lediglich Schulenglisch- Kenntnisse besitz, fordert es doch viel Konzentration ab, den Inhalte Deiner Komentare zumindest sinngemäß zu folgen. Und mit guten englischsprachigen Kanälen kann man sich bei UA-cam tot schmeißen, gute deutschsprachige sind leider eher rar. Du könntest das ändern. Wäre schön, wenn Du für alle "Englisch Legahsteniker" vielleicht mal darüber nachdenken. Ansonsten weiter so👍

      Hi Mario,
      das ist echt witzig, ich habe genau den selben Gedanken seit einiger Zeit und ich plane tatsächlich ab spätestens Januar parallel noch einen deutschen Kanal zu starten 😉
      Ich gebe dir da vollkommen recht, englische Kanäle gibt es sehr viele, aber viele deutsche noch nicht.
      Danke jedenfalls für den Kommentar, das bestätigt mein Vorhaben nur noch mehr :)

    Your vid is really the rigth way to use this pedal i mean many people don't know the pedal has to be with use with a CLEAN amp only to get the sound of what is the pedal itself .
    Just one thing why not using it with a REAL amp ? Cause even if i understood the purpose of your demo , uses virtuals cabs will never show the real potential of the pedal .

    • @SRguitar
