I often come across tutorials to learn about VFX/Graphic Design, and often times people ramble about what they are doing and it makes me want to switch it off, your focus and determination to get the subject and topic information across is both motivational and inspiring. I look forward to seeing every video that you upload. Keep up the great work Andrey.
I'm 16 and an intern for my father in CG where he specializes in VFX, and he needed me do some tracking for a project and your tutorial helped me understand a lot in tracking! Thank you very much sir! God bless!
I like when channels have a certain standard of quality that they do not drop under. Some people are too lazy or do not have the "eyes" to make good quality videos. I'm sure you are aware and happy that you are helping thousands of people. Keep up the hard work Andrey.
Referred to our common personalities in previous comment. As I consider your latest video revealing the location and circumstances of your beginnings, I obtain a clearer revelation of this bond we VFX/CG/Artists/Designers/etc share regardless of where we started from. In that spirit you rock Andrey, although you are known for technical skills, your life as a father, husband and the human being you choose to be are what have earned my deepest respect and appreciation for the personal character you have designed and built. God bless your family and your future.
Good point about tracking stabilized shots... Yes, ALWAYS track the original plate. You can apply stabilization curves to the original match-move (modifying the camera aperture offset, not the camera curves), which only takes a few minutes, but re-tracking a modified plate can take hours or even days, or in some cases can be impossible if you don't know how to do it. The same applies to retimed shots, and repositioned pre-comps. I wrote my own modification tools in Maya to handle these situations, so when they came to me with a revised shot I literally returned a new match-move in 5 minutes. I could even shift the shutter timing on motion blur.
That robot looks brilliant and this is a great tutorial which has a unique personal flavour which is rare in tutorials for CGI and VFX. Look forward to discovering more of your videos.
I know you probably wont see this, but thank you so much. Your tutorials are so good and I would donate to your Patreon if you had one. You make things incredibly clear, as well as being a very knowledgeable person. Definitely recommending you to everyone!
LETS GO ANOTHER TUTORIAL I LOVE YOU!!!!! I really watch your videos over and over because i want to get better at vfx, Thank you for taking time to make these!
This seems like a REALLY good program for tracking. I’m currently a student in college learning Animation. Trying to focus on CGI work and composting. It can be really difficult being limited on the free programs I’m provided with. I usually use After Effects but still have issues with it. PFTrack seems REALLY good at tracking. I might look into it sometime.
Oh mate... Were where you 3 years ago... I had such a bad time with tracking some shots in a VFX project... I'd love then this video more than my life! CHeers!
It's good to know the PFTrack. But you can use the cinema 4d built in Motion Tracker. It's not that good us pf track but get the job done. I never used pf track. Used boujou tracker! And after effects for my compositing stuff and for 3D of course the C4D. I never used fusion! It's just depends on you. And what you can with this! But I agree with you the node base workflow is really good!. Hopefully we can see more octane tutorial from you. If you still reading this thank you and have a great day! Cheers man.
Andrey, thank you for the videos. They are tremendously informative and awesome in every way. I am also jumping into node based compositing after being a long time AE user and jumping into Fusion. I am glad I found your channel and I can't wait for more videos!
Hello Again Andrey ! I have a little tip, I think, to help you and maybe other people. What you said at 4:51 really struck me, as the "warp" feature in the stabilization of Premiere can be avoided if you use a camera that has a "Global Shutter", and not a "Rolling Shutter". You should be able to stabilize BEFORE the VFX if you have a Global Shutter, as the warping factor should be null. I'm pretty sure at 100%. Keep up the good work ! Love you !
Hello :) Well, the reason is that with a global shutter, each frames of the video are captured entirely in a single shot, making it something I'd call "pure progressive", like a real film, like a pellicule would do. With a rolling shutter, the images captured are sort of scanned from top to bottom, so when there is movements, the images are distorted. The top won't always match the bottom, so when we try to stabilize it, the image will sort of wobble/distort. I had a "BlackMagic Cinema 4K" camera that has a global shutter, and I was really amazed of how I had absolutely no distorsion when I was stabilizing my footages in premiere.
However, even though the BM4K has a global shutter, I would not recommend it ; its sensor produces a lot of artifacts, and is absolutely shitty in low-light environments. I would not recommend the BlackMagic URSA either. Their first releases had the same sensor.

I have faith in you.
Thanks for the tutorial ! I still have a sort of question ! Especially for the second footage, while tracking the box, I'm wondering how do you handle the trackers when they are no more visible (for example when camera can't see some green markers due to the box's rotation). Can you teach me how you approximate those trackers position ? Once again thanks for the tutorial and thanks in advance for the answer !
Extremely incredible tutorial, its teaching is very clear. I saw that you pointed out the fact that Depth Of Field is something you can do in post... How could that be possible, Is there a way to create a Depth Map for Footages? And if it is possible, how can it be done?
Yeah there are two things that are crucial for any VFX, one is tracking the other is keying, and any of them might seem easy to you but to do it really well requires really well expertise. It's not just one button click and done, all auto - that stuff only works for software demos.
Man your skillz are sooooo over the Top!!! Pls do some redshift c4d Tutorials-and if not pls do more octane stuff. I learned a lot from you. Thank you!!!!
You can stabilize before cg if you use the simplest form of stabilisation (x;y) transform, stay away of warp stabilize, bc yes it will deform the square nature of the frames.
Amazing as always Andrey, but,the fbx you import into cinema got: 1-A camera movement with the static trackers of the box Or 2-A static camera + moving trackers. If so, how can you replace the moving trackers of the box with a 3d model? It would be great to see the scene set up of objet tracking in a next video. Keep it up!
This has been very informative, as usual. I was wondering if you could make a detailed tutorial about understanding nodes? I've had a bit of trouble understanding node based workflows and am having even more trouble finding someone who explains them the way you explain topics in your videos. Thank you very much for the work you continue to do.
2:16...you're more expert than me...but here's what I've found...The main difference between tracking and matchmoving is that tracking is the process of tracking the motion of objects in a video clip, while matchmoving is the process of matching the motion of objects in a video clip to objects in a 3D scene...

I have a question for your next q&a: my computer runs 32x Intel xeon 2.4ghz CPUs, 96gb of ram and I have one Titan X as gpu. When rendering in octane I barely reach 50% of gpu usage. Already checked high priority. The gpu reaches temperatures of 80-90 degree, could this be the problem? Never had that problem in my HP workstation but would you recommend switching to water cooling? Like, is the high temperature the reason my system doesn't give me more than 50% usage? Thanks in advance 🤟
