I lived in Jackson heights for nine years, before I moved to Miami, about a month ago I brought my family to New York for the second time, my wife and daughters love it...
On our way back to the airport I got off at 74 & Roosevelt ave, then I walked all the way to LaGuardia airport by myself, it was nostalgic walking around the streets, lots of memories, it was a long walk, but I enjoyed it.

This tour went through the lively, gritty, and more diverse parts of Jackson Heights, but the prewar coops that are a bit north and east of where you strolled are quite pretty and classic. An interesting juxtaposition of European-style architecture with the modern and uglier buildings along Roosevelt and 37th Avenue.

So this time a real comment. It‘s obvious you love NYC and that’s why these video are so interesting, you are invested in what is going on and not just presenting the glam of the city. In the end it‘s the people that make a city, and those neighborhoods are just as central to the heart and vibe of the city as all the famous spots in Manhattan, many of which have morphed into tourist traps. Cool video and of course nice work by Phil as well. Cheers!

I am from Guyana and have been living in JH since 2002. The garden co-ops and pre-war buildings on 35th and 34th Aves. are beautiful and equally a nice walk as well, especially the side streets. There are also some good restaurants along Northern Blvd. Please come visit again :).

Cool tour.. my mom lived in Jackson Heights for a while. She loved being close to the #7 train because it takes you right into Manhattan, and it was a great place for her to get away from the secluded neighborhood of Borough Park, Brooklyn... very religious Jewish neighborhood, and it allowed her to form her own identity.

When I visited NYC, pre-pandemic , I stayed at an AIRBNB not far from the train station where Tom started. I loved the neighborhood. Heard all kinds of languages yet it seemed like a regular town...people taking care of their gardens, walking kids to school, strolling down the sidewalks...etc. It was cool to "return" via this video. Thanks.

I lived on 89th street between 37th & Roosevelt avenues between 1985 & 1989. Back then when I lived in Jackson Heights, it was prodominently Colombian. Now, today it's so diverse and it looks great!

I grew up in Jackson Heights and know John Leguizamo personally from being a part of the feature film industry for the last 20 yrs,I remember when the first Pakistani families started moving in during the 70's,there also used to be a Lord and Taylor on 82st and 37ave and a Sears on 78st and Roosevelt Ave that as a kid I'd go shopping with my mom, there also used to be a lot of good pizza shops in these areas,I miss the old Jackson Heights but embrace the change,I love the food diversity, habits like the spitting on the floor I can live without.
Alas I don't live in Jackson Heights anymore but my memories of traveling the 7 train to Shea Stadium will last a lifetime.
    That's for the tour/video.

NIce job, Tom. you captured all of Jackson Heights greatest hits - the same ones I show people when they venture out of the mighty Manhattan to see deepest, mysterious Queens. And Lasha momo's are the best - I've tasted many. I live across from the Scrabble sign. Next time look up and shout out "Sick Plug" and I'll wave out the window.

We saw the main sites of Manhattan on our first visit from the UK but next time want to see the real New York. Also planning to walk around Williamsburg, Bushwick, Long Island City among others. Inspired by Tom’s videos plus those of Action Kid, Sarah Funk, Walk Ride Fly and Manny Explores. Thank you for your work.

I’ve lived in Jackson Heights for 5 years. Just to be a little specific... There are a lot of Colombians living here. Traditionally Jackson Heights has been famous for Indians and South Asian communities and it still has that. There are tons of different communities here. But it seems to me that the largest immigrant community is from Colombia. You walked from 74th to 82nd. But Jackson Heights extends for 15 to 20 blocks past 82nd. If anyone wants to try some amazing Colombian food or see one of the largest Colombian communities outside of Colombia, come to Jackson Heights. Just one of the reasons I love this neighborhood. Thanks for your video
