    I chose the Continental GT but like both, but it’s amazing how different handlebars, tank, seat and footrest position can transform a bike, the two really do have completely different characters and looks.
    I too thoroughly recommend a suspension upgrade to improve handling, I went for a YSS kit for the forks and Hagon shocks at the rear but the biggest improvement came when I swapped the tyres. Avon Roadriders improved the ride quality and steering enormously, they are vastly superior to the standard Indian Ceats in my opinion.

    I think the bikes handle pretty much the same. Neither of them are canyon carvers but they handle and steer very well. They are both styling exercises. One is a British standard the other a cafe racer. I chose the interceptor because I preferred the styling, wanted something good for commuting around town but could still go for longer rides down a twisty road.

    • @roadblastmedia
      @roadblastmedia  2 роки тому +9

      They are very similar although I have noticed I can carry higher speed through a corner on the GT but in the end of the day people aren't buying these for the performance or handling they are buying them for the character and the looks. The interceptor is definitely better for everyday commuting and long distance which is why it's the more popular bike among RE enthusiasts. Cheers for the comment mate always good to hear from you!

      The Cafe Racer is.... Buy a Dull LOOKING BIKE and improve it.
      From what I can gather.. the GT is just form over function..
      The essential Interceptor is MORE than fast enough (off a Race Track) and is Solid and Rapid!

    A good video and explained the differences well - thank you! As someone who used to ride Triumph, BSA, Norton back in the dark days of the reign of Brit bikes in NZ during the 1970's, a couple of observations about ergonomics. Triumph, BSA and Norton all had home market models, and export models destined for the lucrative US market.
    Home market models had larger tanks and mostly flat, slightly curved back bars. Export models had smaller, tear drop shaped tanks, high bars, but footpeg placement was largely the same. The home market was about fuel range and easy cruising at high speeds on motorways, with the slightly canted forwards riding position with the flat bars helping to ameliorate wind blast on a naked bike.
    Conversely, the export models were more about looks and cruising to the beach for the US market, and as such, arguably less suitable for longer rides at high speeds on the highway with the higher bars - once you are above circa 100 kph, that sit up and beg riding position puts a lot of wind blast strain on ones neck and shoulder muscles that you will certainly feel after a long days riding on tour. I'd argue that for the Interceptor to be a comfortable touring bike, that it needs a decent windscreen, rather than the bubble screen which looks nice, but probably does little to protect one from the wind. And of course, if you put a tall screen on it, that has the potential to spoil the look of the Interceptor.
    So, I'd probably choose the GT - after all the bars are not extreme clip ons as were found in the day - rather they are closer in height to the standard bars of the day, albeit not quite as raked back.
    Certainly when I had my brand new Norton Commando roadster (which was the export model that came to NZ) it wasn't long before I took the high US spec bars off it and put Norton flats on it, as found on the standard 650cc Dominator and Atlas 750cc of the day, and the increase in comfort at speed on the highway as regards wind blast was very noticeable and worthwhile. And indeed, I toured all over NZ on it, both Islands with that setup and with saddle bags, and even on dirt and gravel roads - no BMW GS needed...Lol...

    Hi Vinnie. Liking your channel. I have a 2020 Ravishing Red Interceptor, and have ridden nearly 10k KM on it, I have fitted a DNA filter kit and booster plug, Hitchcocks stainless steel headers and some generic reverse cone megas (it revs more freely and has a bit more power) .I also upgraded the suspension with YSS fork kit and Tec shocks ( this made a huge difference to the handling, if I did only 1 mod it would be the YSS kit) I also fitted the touring seat, bar end mirrors and a RE sump guard (for our South Island gravel roads!), recently fitted a TEC carrier and did a 1000km 2up long weekend with luggage to Queenstown and Wanaka, top riding! I am getting old and have other bikes (A Harley Electraglide with Watsonian sidecar and a Hinkley trident) but the Enfield gives me the biggest grin factor nowadays and is well suited for our NZ roads. My son has just bought a 2021 Bakers Express Interceptor, and I fitted a DNA kit for him (Tec Stinger exhaust next), looking forward to a Father/Son riding summer.

    If you trail brake into corners you will know what the bike can really do.
    Im happy with the Interceptors cornering capabilities well good enough for road use. Its a beautiful bike, I love the 270deg firing order, its a raw and true Ton-up bike.
    I love the look of the GT also very nice. A little less fuel capacity and i already have a custom home made cafe racer 07 Triumph 865 Bonneville i did so i picked the Interceptor. I did a few mods to stage 1 being Hooligan cans, a DNA high flow air intake filter and a booster plug. These bikes are so factory tuned down they will never break. So it will be a very long time before any other performance upgrades as i only do them when original parts are worn to a point of needing replacement or major servicing anyway. If it aint broke don't fix it menatality after stage 1 of course.

    I choose to purchase the Continental GT 650. I own a 1980 CSR-650 Kawasaki inline four, that my wife and I made into a Cafe style bike. My new Conti GT, outshines my Kawi in aesthetics dept. My Kawi has clubman bars, a custom style Cafe Racer seat, that my wife and I created from the existing metal swing up seat pan, also a MAC 4INT 1 EXHAUST. I fabricated the cowl, whilst my wife covered the cowl in marine grade fabric, machine sewn by her to follow the lines of the cowl. I used expandable foam I shaped into a cowl. This bike really does tip in amazingly well, but is very uncomfortable for extended rides. In contrast My Conti-650 seems perfect for extended rides with my height and weight, and I notice very little discomfort at all. Coming from a motorcycle background, began riding and racing at the age of 13, I am now 66, and digging my new Conti-650 thoroughly. Only 166 miles on the clock so far, so no where broken in yet. Seems Royal Enfield did a superb job designing the Cafe Style Continental-G.T. Wouldn't trade this bike for any other bike or money, a "TRUE MODERN" Classic in every since of the words! 🏁🏁

    Good video. Excellent quality too. You must have a pretty decent camera. I'm definitely in the Interceptor camp. What kind of heat comes off the engine? I have a 1996 Heritage Classic and after a few miles, the oil tank under my right ass cheek starts getting pretty toasty! HD is a pretty bike, but certainly throws off some heat!

      I seen tests on India in middle of summer between a Interceptor & water cooled Triumph around town the Interceptor was gruntier at lower speeds due to tourqe delivery starting at 2000rpm & ran 5°cooler than the water cooled Triumph surprisingly.The Interceptor used more gas but that's due to the low tourqe as Triumph tourqe don't start until 3300-3500rpm depending on 900-1200cc Trumpy meaning you'll be doing 80kmh before tourqe kicks in that's another reason R.E 650 so appealing because you'll having fun the whole time because of real world tourqe being used 80% of the time not 25% like big engined bikes.The video was called Interceptor vs Triumph (in India)

    I am just today back from a good solid test ride on an Interceptor 2022.
    Wow.., i thought it was just a Chug along cheapo..
    It goes from THUD THUD.. to WHIIIIIIZ BRAAAARP..
    All of which translates to serious REAL WORLD SPEED!
    The SOLID feel in corners is so satisfying and encouraging..
    I don't know how long it would take or IF I ever WOULD push it too far?
    It seems perfectly balanced for Swift and Hilarious Road Riding!
    The Gear Box Pisses on any Sportsbike I have ridden before... (after a 12-15 year break)..
    Definitely better than my YZF1000r Thunderace on the road..
    Faster than My mates ZZR600 in most conditions?
    Only thing I would criticize is the Divey Front Fork.., but only when coming to a HALT!...
    More than made up for by Royal Enfields MIRRORS?
    BLACK MAGIC JUJU?
    If I bought a Ducati.. I would immediately get Royal Enfield Mirrors for it... AMAZING THINGS...?

    Another UA-camr claims that the GT has a firmer suspension setup, but I am dubious; otherwise, you'd expect RE to tout it. I think the hair-splitting about the ergonomics of the GT vs. the Int is a bit overblown: The GT's pegs and bars are a good bit less extreme than "true" rear sets and clip-ons, e.g. FireBlade, Tuono...). Definitely road test both first!

    • @roadblastmedia
      @roadblastmedia  2 роки тому

      They have the exact same suspension the GT might feel firmer as there is more weight over the front, plus these videos help people make their decision sometimes you need to split hairs looking at these two if you cant make up your mind they still both feel quite different

    Hi man ! Thinking of getting the Interceptor (sorry; hate the GT) but most reviews say brakes are weak, and that's a huge turnoff. One youtuber even swapped the brake pump for a Brembo, and the pads for sintered ones, the OEM shocks for aftermarket ones, and different springs and oil for the front fork, only to ''make the bike handle and brake decently enough''. How true is that ? Is the sus really that unstable while cornering, and the brakes so weak you have to squeeze the lever with all of your strenght ? A lot of fellas complained about the saddle foam being too soft too. One thing I would do is keep the stock pipes, which everyone seems to remove. I think they look amazing, sound amazing, and are QUIET, and that's worth the extra, what, 20 pounds ? Why on Earth most people want louder pipes is totally beyond me. The bike is as relaxed and vintage-looking as my 60-year old needs to return to motorcle riding (not a novice, but never liked crotch rockets, not even as a teen) By the way, cheers from Buenos Aires ! Good channel you got going mate !

    • @roadblastmedia
      @roadblastmedia  2 роки тому +3

      Hows it mate the brakes would be considered weak against high powered bikes but these brakes are more than ample for the amount of power these put down i find them more than good enough, have never had a moment where i needed them to be stronger. The suspension is also ample for the type of bike it is its not a bike youre going to be dragging your knee through every corner and i think thats where alot of reviewers get it wrong it does what its meant to do, a classic looking bike that can keep up with the modern market! In saying that you can still smash through some corners no worries at all! I have kept up with yamahas and other more sporty bikes no worries through the corners. As for the exhausts its an each to their own situation i lost 14kg putting the full system on mine and gained a bit of power and a nice exhaust note but thats my personal preferance and the standard exhausts are still very cool and i liked the note they made you could also hear the air intake better and the whine which some people really like so do what you will with customisation they are truely a canvas to reflect the rider! Cheers for the comment mate!

    Great bike but the lack of power is a bit of an issue if it were your only bike. You can even see it in the video; if I twisted the throttle that much on my 19 Goldwing I would be in the scrub!

      @@roadblastmedia I had a FJR1300 before and got rid of it as it is too fast in the open and too heavy around town. Great bike just too much everything. Plus getting too old to pick it up off the ground.
      The current model DCT Wing, especially without the touring seat like mine, is sublime. Hums along at the speed limit with the cruise. Doesn't scream GO FASTER YOU WUSS!! like the FJR. Alternatively it is so smooth and flickable around town due to the low centre of gravity and massive low down torque it leave the Yam for dead and the reverse gear is fantastic. It is like riding the storm trouper speeder in Star Wars.
      Plus when you drop it, it only goes to 45 degrees and is easy to pick up.
      Check my youtube vids, I have one showing the $150 turntable I use in the garage. Makes the beast as easy to handle as a PeeWee.
      It was a toss up between the Wing and an Interceptor and the height was the swinging vote as I hate backing up a bike where I can't flat foot. Doesn't matter on the Wing and it is slightly lower.
      Also the Wing has great road presence without being obnxious like other big bikes. Less likely to get T boned by a Corolla than on a RE.

    I ordered a '22 GT Continental with the Mr Clean tank end of 2021, but then in January I lost my license for 12 months.
    I had also ordered all the extras, single seat, fly screen, end mirrors and louder cans.
    Fortunately I was able to get my $2.5k deposit back from the dealership just prior to its arrival, as there was no point in it sitting in the garage for 12 months not being used, but I'm gutted, a lesson learned the hard way.
    I'm 55 and do get a bit of back fatigue, so maybe the Interceptor would be better for me for those longer trips around NZ, although I do love that GT cafè racer style look! 😎

    Beautiful bikes but grossly underpowered. A 47hp 650 twin is ridiculous. Yamaha's 321cc twin makes 42hp. Buy a bicycle and invest the difference until RE ups their game.

    • @roadblastmedia

      They have more than enough power for what they are. Theyre a proper classic bike with a couple mordern features to be sold in todays market price is very competative and with a few small mods you can have them up over 200kmph. They make all their power very low in the rev range so they feel alot quicker than what they are. I own a 125hp triumph Daytona 675 and i would rather ride my 650 any day of the week easily the most fun ive had on two wheels so far. Power isnt everything mate its the way the bike behaves is what makes it so special

      Thats because theyre restricted to be A2 compliant i put a full exhaust system on my GT and a full open air filter it dropped 14kg and was able to go over 200kmph all the mods cost me about 400usd, fit and finish is great considering price plus theyre meant to be a replica classic bike so theyre not meant to be super fast or great handlers just like a harley davidson very similar goal although these handle better than most harleys you cant get classic good looks and awesome performace those two never really go together
