I have both the Tilta and SmallRig, and choose the right one based on the setup. Tilta for mouting on gimbal because I can remove right half of the cage and allow sliding into the RS2 base plate from both directions, and because of the compatibility of Tilta's low-profile 15mm rod adapter when mounting DJI follow focus. SmallRig for handheld and rigging because of the "pinkie"ergonomic, HDMI clamp use-ability, both 1/4" and 3/8" mounting points, slanted cold shoe for more space for the microphone when having a top handle, and being able to use the Tilta top nato rail instead.
9:31 I cant attach my FX3 to my Gimbal because the arca swiss plate is attached kinda from the wrong side!!! You can't slide it in the Gimbal from that side because the Gimbal arm blocks it...
A flat cold use its basically useless when you have the top handle on. Wireless go II RX is to wide and bulky devices clash with the preamp. I have the tilta cage and is a bit of a disaster also. I can use the cold shoe because is flat, the hdmi clamp is tiny, only one of my thin hmdi cables fits, the provided nato rail for when you don't use the handle has the tilta logo blocking my smalrig handle when I place it forward, the leather handle is imposible to put back if you ever remove it. etc. Not a happly, I think I would trade is for the small rig
Can you give me a link where to find SMALLRIG Cage Kit for Sony FX30 FX3, Classic Black Bright Surface, with XLR Handle Extension Rig, Wrist Strap and SMALLRIG Light Cage Grip compatible with the kit? Thank you
I agree with @samiebuka, a flat cold shoe is useless as most accessories hit the Sony top handle when it’s installed, I’ve just bought this cage and the angled cold shoe is genius. The Falcam version I’ve been using until now has a flat shoe mount, which is basically unusable. The distressed look is personal preference, I like it but they should offer a choice just like Tilta do! Great review by the way.
You have 1 point wrong: A case must look old and scratchy. I love it, as it shows that you have used the cage. Its lke a vintage look :-) . Hence I would never advise to renew it or paint it. Let it look old and scratchy to add some history to it.
my cage is from amazon, still smallrig, and it does not have the wear look

4:53 couldn't you mount a handle on the nato rail and the Monitor on top. That way you have a well balanced setup

10:32 you show it but that's not going to work check it out
@@JS-rh6cs You slide the camera into the long plate first before sliding the whole thing onto the gimbal.
@@frankfeng2701 yeah but thats just not the point of the cage.... its a miss design
Same here, no worn look and got the cage 5 months ago...
Do you know the part number number for just the top plate/nato rail? To buy separately from the cage?

does this scratch your camera?

Quck question, can you mount the cage to a gimbal vertically?
DJI has a vertical mount accessory that works seamlessly.

Thank you so much for sharing your experience and supporting the video!
Just got the cage… has not scratches whatsoever maybe you got a defective cage weird tho

But if people dont like the distressed look...why buy it haha
According to other videos, it didn’t say it had a distressed or rugged look when it was first on the website
Because of functionality & comfortably
